[So she hasn't actually used these to make an announcement of her own since she first got here. She doesn't think Luffy even knew many people, he wasn't here long enough, but. You know. Just in case.

Besides she has another question which she's just gonna focus on.]

If anyone met Luffy, I'm pretty sure he's gone home, or... wherever people go when they vanish. I guess he didn't meet with approval or something. [So flat. To be honest, if she was sure he was going home instead of back to wherever he'd been stuck, she'd just be relieved. But there's nothing she can do about it either way.]

He left me a gift, though. Ah. [She holds up her palm and opens it to show a small scattering of seeds.] I grew up on an orchard back home, and these are... well. They're from my favourite fruit. So I'd like to grow it, but that's really kind of difficult in space. You need a lot of soil for a mikan tree to grow in, y'know? So if anyone has any advice or shortcuts or magical interventions, let me know. I can try a few different ways. Asteffiel, I don't... can you work from seeds? So that's one option.

I don't even know if I'll be here long enough to watch them grow, but it'll give me something to do.

Then she'll just say hell with it and go shopping - she takes the distraction option and hit up the nearby waystation. She hasn't had a chance to shop yet, and it's great therapy. No. In our time, you packed barrels of limes for an ocean voyage. And overpacked them at that. It's too easy to spend more time at sea than you really intended to.

And fruit goes bad eventually, even if you do try to be prepared. That is why we had mostly protein on Serenity- kept properly it took a while to spoil. Fresh food was carefully purchased so it did not go to waste, when we could afford it.

Sounds like a less risky but also less tasty trip. Do you have the kinds of things that this fleet stocks?

The protein Atroma provides us is an improvement, actually- it has flavor, for one.

Oho. So coming here was an upgrade for you in culinary tastes, then. I wish I could say the same.

I do wish that we had better food access here, either way- whenever the sponsors send me something it tends to be terribly unhealthy. Or just as bland as the protein.

That's a shame. Is the terribly unhealthy stuff at least delicious?

Sometimes. They sent me some cereal that was fairly good, if a little sugary. And occasionally they do deliver on healthier things and send a crate of tea.

Ahh... tea. That's something I missed in Adstring, too.

Though to be honest, I think it'd be nice to be sent a crate of fruit juice. [Or just fruit. She'd take fruit!]

Oh definitely. I love fruit-- I just figured it'd be more likely to get the juiced option.

Adstring is short for Adstringendum-- it's the place I was stuck in before I came here. You've probably heard a lot about those kinds of places.

Maybe for Christmas or your birthday. You never know- our supposed fans do love us and want us to be happy.

I have... apparently I was in one of them, a place called Cair Paradisa, though I have no memory of it. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to go straight from one to the other without a stop at home.

From what I've heard of the place, I think not remembering it might be better for you.

...I wonder about that. Sometimes I'm really frustrated, and then I wonder if maybe it'd be worse if I had to get used to missing them all over again.

I agree with that, most definitely. My sister came and went more than once there... I'd hate to have the weight of that on my shoulders.

That is true. At least you didn't get a taste of being home just to have that cruelly yanked from you again.

[You've sort of got that weight anyway, she thinks. Just knowing the people you care about were somewhere else can be hard.]

Well, I'll go home eventually. Turns out the week I get back is a really fun one.

In the grander scheme of things, not much. But we invited a friend to come with us from Adstring and he's on board for that week-- watching him sail for the first time should be hilarious.

He turned up here a few days ago. That's how I know.

Oh, that does sound fun. I imagine I would be just as amusing on a sailing ship mysekf.

Probably. Space doesn't tend to rock its ships around. Would you ever like to try sailing?

I would if we ever get the opportunity to. Might as well expand my horizons as much as I can while on this unwanted detour, right?

It'll be interesting to see how you go with sea legs.

Probably not well. The ships I am used to have artificial gravity and stabilizers, so unless there is serious turbulence, you don't feel much movement.

Yeeaah, try not to handle anything delicate on your first trip.

I will at least try to keep a bag to be discreetly sick into if it comes to that.

On a sea ship, you don't have to. Believe me, newcomers half folded over the rail and vomiting into the ocean is a pretty traditional sight by now.
