a) cityscape
[ if you, too, are in the city, you'll see a tiny girl bouncing around poking at everything. miyuki is excitable and energetic, ducking in and out of shops. she's trying everything on, examining everything, taking pictures with her communicator... you might find that she bumps into you, clumsy as she is. don't worry, she'll help you right back up with a "sorry, sorry!" and excuse her as she brushes you off.

the only time she actually calms down is at a tiny little cafe. the hot chocolate isn't as good as akane would make it, but... it warms her up anyway. she's got a cheap little book and she actually seems like a bookworm, curled up like this and watching people pass by. yeah she elected to visit a building made completely of ice, itchy sweater and all. ]

b) outside

[ did you know that snow angels are really easy to make?

that might be why you see a line of them coming out of the city. miyuki's running around flopping in the snow as she does snow angels, though she does pause to try and make a snowman.

it's pretty lopsided. miyuki is not an artist, she will assure you of that.

... but there's no nose. hm. ]

Mr. Snowman needs a nose... but what could I use...?

[ it might be better if she doesn't toddle into the forest... ]

[she can toddle all she wants, until suddenly... POW, she gets hit in the shoulder with a snowball.]

[ wagh!

she stops for a moment, blinking at her shoulder and then squinting off into the distance... ]

Who's there?

[after a moment, a less-seriously-aimed snowball comes arcing lazily through the air. it's easy to tell where it's coming from, though. a familiar skullfaced guy is hanging out on a tree branch, somewhat camouflaged around the dark branches and the white snow.

he's also bare-handedly scooping up more snow off his branch to smush into more ammunition.]

[ investigation time!

after a bit of peering around, miyuki decides to look up--oh, there he is! ]

Skelly-san! [ ... hm. ] You like the snow? I wouldn't have expected that...

[now that she can see him, he waves with one hand. and then lobs another snowball at her with the other.]

[ she shrieks with surprise before beaming. ]

Now you've done it! [ she darts behind a tree to gather some snow herself, pelting it at h... im...

wow, that sure is a horrible throw. ] Ah, oops...

[he watches the throw go up... and then down. did it even make it anywhere near his branch? he continues crouching there and... shakes his head.]

[Nel is also toddling off toward the edge of the forest--but for much more shady dealings in his case. and hopefully whoever he's supposed to be meeting is a patient person, because he gets totally distracted when he sees his little crewmate playing in the snow along the way.

he changes course and heads her way instead, totally perplexed as he peers at the lump of snow that she's building.]

Hey! [his arms are folded tight around his shivering torso, but he lifts one briefly so he can wave as he approaches.] ...What are you doing?

--oof!

[ she nearly trips into her snowman as she tries to pack more snow onto the lower layer. ]

I'm making a snowman! But it's missing a nose...

A snow-man? What for?

[he wanders closer, kind of... squinting at the snow lump. he's never seen a snowman before, so... maybe they're supposed to look like this?]

Fun, of course! [ she bounds over, taking his hand and leading him around so he can see the snowman straight on. ] He's not finished... don't you think he'd look better with a hat, too?

[oh, um! he's surprised when she takes his hand, but lets himself toddle after wherever she's leading him. ...looking at the snowman from this angle really doesn't clarify anything else for him, though.]

I don't get it. ...What do you do with them?

[he's still stuck on snowman basics. he hasn't advanced to trying to imagine a hat on it yet.]

[Hange is scoping out the city herself, although she hasn't bought anything yet. She's gonna wait a bit and see more of what there is to see.

When she gets bumped into, Hange steadies the girl, laughing.]

Take it easy there - oh, my...

[it took a second for that brilliant pink hair to fully register...]

--ah? [ oh, she's... she seems preoccupied? ] Is something wrong?

[Hange is already staring with intent interest.]

Your hair! It's remarkable! I've never seen a shade like that... is it natural? Is it common where you're from?

My... hair...

Um... it's... [ she pulls at a strand. ] it's the same color my mom's hair is...

Really? And what color was her mother's hair?

[He's still not sure what he thinks about all of this. A TV show, really? Well, at least things are staying interesting. This snowy planet isn't exactly his ideal choice for a vacation spot, but it seems like there's plenty to do. Pausing in front of a tall shop window, he stares at the clothing display a moment. His Black Coat is warm enough, but it might be nice to get a scarf, just for a little flair, right? He doesn't usually have the opportunity to dress up the uniform, after all. He pulls out his communicator to see if he can check how many of those credit things he's got.

[Before he can make a decision, however, he's crashed into and stumbles forward with an oof sound. Catching himself before he pitches to the ground, he turns in time to see a young girl with very pink hair stagger backward from the impact. He makes a bit of a face, then straightens up and arches his back, hands on his hips.]

You should watch where you're going, kid, you'll put your eye out or something.

[Well, his elbows are pretty sharp and pointy, after all.]

[ she gives a light start when she sees him. wow, his hair's as bright as akane's! ]

Oh, I'm okay! [ she gets up, brushing herself off. ] Who're you? I haven't seen you around... [ sticking her hand out. ] I'm Miyuki!

[Well, at least she's okay. He really isn't in the business of hurting kids. He looks at her hand a moment, then decides there's no harm in an introduction and shakes it firmly.]

I only got here a couple days ago. I'm Axel--got it memorized?

[ she laughs and then taps her temple. ]

I definitely won't forget! [ her hand falls away and she leans in a little. ] My first few days were pretty weird, but it's kind of nice here.

[He grins a bit when she taps her temple--just the way he usually does--and then folds his arms, looking thoughtful.]

'Weird' is a good word for it. I'm still not sure I really get it. I was supposed to be heading back to check in with my boss [--not that he'd ever call Saïx that to his face--] and I wound up here instead. [A shake of his head.] Boss is gonna kill me if he finds out I've been playing around on a television show, but this is definitely more fun than doing reports.

But you didn't choose to be here!

[ that's a scary thought, actually. ]

Ah, it'd be really bad if I got in trouble... I'm supposed to be in school! M-maybe they'll understand?
