[Snow is fine. It happened in New Beijing from time to time- though this is considerably cleaner than New Beijing, which is also fine. She's not even bothered by the fact that the locals aren't very friendly. She'll just smile and wave and be cutesy, while also finding the best places to go shopping. The fact that she has no money isn't important.

She's trying on a jacket (probably too thin to protect against the elements, but that doesn't really matter for her), turning to the nearest person.] What do you think?

[ She looks behind her, over her left shoulder and then her right, before turning back to face the woman in front of her, asking: ]

[ Maybe she'd expected someone else to be there when she'd turned around to show off. ]

Hm... [Iko looks outside, and then looks at the fabric again. Hm. It probably is on the the thinner side... why are they even selling things like this here, then?] Oh well. I don't really have money right now anyway.

[She pulls the coat off, and immediately goes for another.] What do you think of this one?

The color is nice...it looks a little heavier too, which is good.

( Ella glances up from her examination of a nearby clothing rack, blinking in momentary surprise. )

[Hm. You know, it's kind of cool, how people just keep assuming she's human. She doesn't know whether to correct people or not.

( There's a lot of different possibilities, but Ella would have to admit most those species she knows do feel the elements to some degree. )

These? ( she glances over the coats. ) No, I haven't. I was admiring the fabric on a few. They feel very warm, which makes sense, given this city. Not to mention the whole of the world.

( Ice all over is another new experience. The buildings made out of nothing but are a kind of fascination on their own. )

Since I won't be buying one either, it didn't seem like I should.

( But! But! ... Oh... that's pretty............ Ella opens her mouth to protest, but her heart isn't in it. She comes over, looking at the one Iko's holding up. )

It's in a nicer color than what we're given to wear. ( By the... ship... reality show. Details. She reaches out to touch one sleeve, her ungloved hand rubbing fingers over the material. ) I'm amazed at how soft it is...

( It's not this itchy wool stuff they have, everything is soft in comparison. )

Ella manages not to look around furtively when she finally consents, pushing one arm through the sleeve and pulling the coat on over her shoulders to thread her other arm through. She's right, it does feel warm, and it feels a little... like she's doing something daring for no good reason. She grins, buttoning the buttons, before stepping away and giving a small spin. )

I had no idea it'd feel this light!

[Iko squeals cheerfully and claps.] It looks great! The color is fantastic on you!

[Hey, she hasn't been pouring over fashion sites for 5 years for something!] Does it feel good on?

( Does it? Yes, actually - whoever designed it made it form fitting in such a way that she feels nice and snug, but not restricted. There' a long breath in, then a long breath out as she nods her head, shrugging her shoulders up toward her ears to just enjoy this moment a little longer.

Once that's done, Ella starts unbuttoning it, looking a little sad, but mostly content. )

[Oh, right. That little detail. Iko sobers up a little too as Ella takes it off, but overall she still thinks it was a good idea.]

The show always goes on. Even as a pilot, the most range I can get is about two days away from the main ship of the fleet. It's all so strange all around.
