riku runs a hand through his hair slowly, ending with him rubbing the back of his neck. ]

Little ones. Not enough to be dangerous--like... magic models. My Master taught me how, in case I need to explain stuff to people.

Really? You can do that kind of stuff?!

It does sound pretty cool.

[ as riku's shoulders hunch, his face slooowly turns bright red, hands in his pockets. ]

I-it's not that impressive.

Of course it is! I never heard of anyone who could make their own illusions.

[ did anyone else forget that they're supposed to be on the job? because Lloyd sure did. ]

Is it like summoning?

[He gives a sigh at Lloyd; nevermind being distracted from the job as well]

Oh c'mon- unless these illusions are living creatures, I doubt it's summoning.

[ now see, Lloyd was about to argue that he thought it was LIKE summoning not that it WAS summoning (Riku didn't mention making any sort of pacts so he knows it's not summoning DUH) until Riku spoke up. ]

Uh...I think it shouldn't be far now. They said due west- [a beat] This is west right?

[ riku stops, closing his eyes and tipping his chin down as he focuses. they aren't too far from the city... are they headed west away from it? with a quiet grunt, he opens an eye and peers around them. ]

We're more northwest, but we're on the right track.

[idealistic]

[ ...now see, he knew about the cardinal direction bit (navigating through forests ye). but as long as they aren't far - or didn't end up missing it completely. ]

You think we should turn a little to the left here? Head more to the west?

I...guess?

[HE'S FROM THE CITY DON'T ASK HIM THESE THINGS. Why don't these trees have street signs jeez]

[ this is weird. riku has never felt this kind of disturbance from his darkness before--he frowns and opens his eyes, pressing his hand against the side of his head. since when did it become even a little harder to sense things?

... well, this is their job, so he'll let them figure it out. at least they know where they are, now. he doesn't want to overstay his welcome. ]

C'mon.

[ TIME TO PLAY LEADER AGAIN, THEN. he gestures to the left before making his way due west. it's harder in the snow, but if he could find anything resembling a cleared path, this'll make their lives easier-- actually... ]

I wonder if we can see it from here.

[YAY LEADERSHIP. Kaneis follows along, giving a slight glance at Riku pressing his hand on his head- but making no comment on it. You okay man?]

[But he'll address Lloyd]

Probably not with these trees, but... [Right. That reminds him that he could try listening. So he pauses and tries to pay attention to the sound going on around him. And sure enough, after a moment of trying to filter the sounds- he can hear the faint sounds of bear growls and what sounds like heavy footsteps against stone - much too heavy to be human.] ...I think I hear 'em. Unless there's other mines with bears around, we should be there soon.

[Will he bother to explain how he can hear this to the human in the group? NAAAAH]

riku didn't explain how he knows they're a little more north than west so he'll let it slide. ... for now. he'll bring it up later.

good thing he can tell those bears are there with his sense, too. ]

They're close by--looks like the mines are pretty big.

[ ... now to be on the lookout. ]

[ casually mentioning this to the sole human, nbd. in Lloyd's defense, he assumed that Kaneis told him about the angel stuff, soooo.

he gestures somewhere over to his left, excitement already bubbling within him. what do the mines look like, he wonders, especially since Riku is saying they're big...! ]

C'mon! [ picking up the pace, HURRY UP YOU SLOWPOKES ]

[HAHAHA right Lloyd. Sure. Like that'll ever be a safe assumption to make.]

[But oh there's Lloyd getting excited again. It's been awhile since he's been on a job with Lloyd, but he can still remember this part. He picks up his own pace]

I'm coming, I'm coming. [SHEESH]

riku ambles along, keeping his distance from the two of them. being backup means... well, not being in the fray. better to fill in where he's needed than to break into a fight with no clear idea how the other two worked together.

it probably means he'll play healer. lloyd seems the type to tank with his face. ]

[ the both of you, he's calling the both of you slowpokes

Lloyd's already pretty far ahead, following the sounds of claws against rock as they gradually grow louder and louder. it isn't long before he comes across a manmade cavern, and he looks behind him to see if Kaneis and Riku are nearby before drawing his swords.

they feel almost unnatural in his hands, but Lloyd just guess it's because these aren't his usual swords. ]

[For his griping, it's honestly not that hard for him not to lose Lloyd. Sure, the guy was faster than him, but he was pretty used to running after those white ribbon...whatever they were supposed to be- Kaneis still wasn't sure.]

[Either way, he's there at the manmade entrance not too long after Lloyd. He draws his own sword. It's crapily made, the balance is all wrong on them- but it still feels good to have some sort of blade in his hand. He hated being unarmed.]

[He glances to see if the final person in their party didnt' get lost in the woods. Since you know, that'd suck]

[ he's pretty silent as he picks up the rear--he makes almost no sound and he's scoping out the area before he closes his eyes to ping his internal radar. alright.

with both of them stopped by the entrance, riku makes sure he's a few yards back--comfortable enough to get to any cover or make any tactical moves.

he's a little too used to sora being gung-ho so he expects lloyd to just rush forward. what shonen doesn't, after all. he does give kaneis a nod, though. ]

[ as he waits for the other two to catch up, he listens in the cave to gauge exactly how much of a fight they're in for. there's quite a number of bears, but nothing he's sure that the three of them together can't take care of. maybe after killing off a bear or two he can shake off this unease he's feeling from holding these shoddy swords.

Lloyd's raring to go and kick some monster butt, but unlike other shonen heroes, he waits. teamwork is key, no matter what; this was something that Lloyd was made aware of. it was how he was able to go as far as he did in his battle prowess, after all.

he turns back to his other two teammates. ] You guys ready?

[wilder]

[He's also doing the same listening, mostly to assess a possible strategy and oh yeah- about how much he can slack on this fight. With Lloyd here, and Riku seems pretty sure- moderate output should probably be sufficient. Good. He rather not break out into sweat.]

As ready as I'll ever be. Lightning should be good enough for these guys, right?

[Since....he'd imagine earth magic might cause a cave-in.]

[ expecting lloyd to just barge in, riku actually stumbles a bit when he looks back and calls for them.

huh? he blinks once before catching himself and shaking his head to clear it. ]
