You humans are the race closest to the dirt and the beasts, you know. It makes you special.

[and he... really kind of does sound as though he means it as a compliment.]
aberrant_type: (diagnosis: big stick up butt)

[personal profile] aberrant_type 2014-12-31 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
[He'd have to get much closer to her than he is for those words to have any sting, whether he means them for a compliment or not - and Tek being Tek, he will never get that close to her.

As such, it's more or less easy to just let Tek wash off her. She's met his type so many times before.]

Well... I can't say that circumstances at home lend me much basis for comparison, so I suppose I'll take your word for it.
heresyandlace: (trust me)

[personal profile] heresyandlace 2015-01-01 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[it's something that he likes talking about anyway, and only to humans that he holds at least a strong tolerance or light fondness for. so he just continues, since there isn't anything else more interesting about their rather vacant woodland surroundings.]

Well, it's true. The other races were all created to be closer to the gods, and none of them have whatever it is that humans do.
aberrant_type: (noble.)

[personal profile] aberrant_type 2015-01-01 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[A strong tolerance or light fondness, huh? So which is it?

She listens but keeps going, not really looking at him but looking around. Such a freezing world, evergreens blanketed with snow around them, or deciduous trees scraping black branches against the sky as blank as a new parchment.

Does the season ever change? What would it be like in six months...]

Why bother with the difference?
heresyandlace: (smile like a snake)

[personal profile] heresyandlace 2015-01-02 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Between the races? Every god had their own clever idea of what to make. They all broke off and threw in different parts of themselves, used different ingredients, tweaked the recipe to suit their tastes.

Only one of them decided to dig really deep into the grimy stuff that makes up the insides of the mortal plane, however... and thus was the human race.

Brutal and vital and completely mad.

[he says with both disgust and fondness.]
aberrant_type: (tell me more!)

[personal profile] aberrant_type 2015-01-02 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
[She laughs again in the throat, a noise that ought to be familiar by now - it's how she's laughed at him sometimes before.

Some people have applied words like that to her, in varying combinations at various times. This aberrant-type human can't deny that sometimes they're a little true, but knows just as well they're not all there is...]

What a list of qualities! You make humans sound so... scary.
heresyandlace: (aren't you a treat)

[personal profile] heresyandlace 2015-01-02 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Some creatures find them terrifying. And some find them delicious.

And it's all for the same sorts of reasons.

[and there is the point that he's been circling for a while now.]
aberrant_type: (lens flared.)

[personal profile] aberrant_type 2015-01-02 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
So if humans were made with detritus -

[She stops, abruptly, eagle eyes catching something. A shadow a darker shade of dirty off-white moves through the trees in the distance. She only caught it because it was moving; Hange stops in the snow and stares after the polar bear, which is lumbering away from them. After a moment she takes her gun off her shoulders and stands poised, but otherwise does nothing, watching the bear move away from them, more eager to escape the human...oids than take a gander at eating them.

Maybe it's Tek's aura, or maybe it just knows that humans aren't good prey.]

... if humans were made out of cosmic detritus... what was your kind made out of? [Not looking at him as she speaks; just gazing after the bear.]
heresyandlace: (sits like a whore)

[personal profile] heresyandlace 2015-01-02 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
[his eyes flick to follow hers, otherwise remaining as still--simply lacking any busy, extra, mammalian movement--as before.]

Not so much detritus as... the deepest dust. The foundation. The stuff farthest from the gods.

[and he can't help but be just a little disappointed when the bear makes its pointed exit.]

And we are made of grand godbeings that have been split a few times--brought a few notches lower since our original creation--and lots of elemental energies.
aberrant_type: (why is her forehead huge)

[personal profile] aberrant_type 2015-01-02 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Fascinating...

[Her voice drops to a murmur. She doesn't move, still and patient herself, until the bear is out of sight.

Then she turns away and keeps on. Not disappointed, not much of an emotional reaction after all; she's just out walking.]

Oh, by the by, we figured out what caused that little illness most everyone caught.
heresyandlace: (trust me)

[personal profile] heresyandlace 2015-01-02 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, did you?

[returning to a casual stroll as if nothing had happened. though, he is quietly keeping one spare thread of attention pinned to the bear's living presence, and scanning around for any other living creature of interest. it helps pass the time.]

If you say that his name is Henry, I'm going to scream.
aberrant_type: (friendly-like!)

[personal profile] aberrant_type 2015-01-02 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, Henry! [Said... fondly.]

No, no, nope. Not him at all. Actually, our bodies were filled with very very tiny robots that were sucking our energy out. The source seems to have been the stones that got passed out at the first planet. So, you see, when you spit it up, your body was doing the right thing for you!
heresyandlace: (not EXACTLY what I had in mind)

[personal profile] heresyandlace 2015-01-02 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[...haaa, he's going to need a minute to get over his sudden look of disgust and alarm, as he mentally chokes on several different points.]
aberrant_type: (wut r u doing)

[personal profile] aberrant_type 2015-01-02 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[She glances at him, takes a moment, then reaches over and thumps him on the shoulder.]

Easy, there.
heresyandlace: (a fickle thing)

[personal profile] heresyandlace 2015-01-03 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
[still staring at her in thin horror]

...You can't be serious about that.
aberrant_type: (her wisdom stat is actually 11)

[personal profile] aberrant_type 2015-01-03 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I'm completely serious.

[Crunch crunch crunch, goes the snowcrust; branches rattle in the breeze. Besides that, the only noise is them talking.]

Think about it. What were the conditions on that planet like?

heresyandlace: (a fickle thing)

[personal profile] heresyandlace 2015-01-04 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
Terrible. But I don't see what that has to do with...

[and he just kind of gestures vaguely at the air because the concept of tiny robots in their systems is so alien to him, he can't really explain it back in context.]
aberrant_type: (wind-scoured&sun-burned)

[personal profile] aberrant_type 2015-01-04 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
All right... so if after visiting that planet, we ended up with little robots sucking our energy out. Where do you suppose it would be going?
heresyandlace: (you can fuck off now)

[personal profile] heresyandlace 2015-01-04 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[hang on, he's still stuck on something.]

...Little robots?
aberrant_type: (8T)

[personal profile] aberrant_type 2015-01-04 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Teeny tiny little machines. Robots.

Yes.
heresyandlace: (a fickle thing)

[personal profile] heresyandlace 2015-01-05 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Because of red stones?
aberrant_type: (awkwaaard.)

[personal profile] aberrant_type 2015-01-05 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Uh-huh. It seems like they were the source of 'em.

[are you stupid tek what is the problem here]
heresyandlace: (you can fuck off now)

[personal profile] heresyandlace 2015-01-08 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
[...he looks vaguely sick...]

How can a stone do that? ...Are they still dangerous?
aberrant_type: (friendly-like!)

[personal profile] aberrant_type 2015-01-08 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
You're not still sick, right?

[She looks at least somewhat sympathetic. He was her patient, after all; perhaps it's a holdover from that.]

I expect either you fought it off somehow, or your augment helped you deal with the invasion. But you probably shouldn't eat it again. Why did you do that?
heresyandlace: (you can fuck off now)

[personal profile] heresyandlace 2015-01-08 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
[ugggh, a heaves a longsuffering groan.]

It was made of such a good material...
