goldenglasses: Maker on LJ (You keep talking but I'm not listening)
[personal profile] goldenglasses
Who: Vash and the world
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Yes if on/visiting the Twin Roses
When: Backdated to August 18th

[Vash's knew a pattern when he saw one. He set his communicator off to the side to make sure he didn't bump it in his scramble to deal with whatever insane item the Atroma was going to throw at him for his birthday this year. Still close enough to call for help if it was needed, but he was not going to have an accidental broadcast this year!

Which is why when his communicator starts to broadcast on it's own this year there's a clear view of Vash and Kitty already kissing each other in the Twin Roses's cargo bay. The two captains of the ship don't notice at all that their private moment is being broadcasted out to the whole fleet. Vash almost doesn't even notice when a small colorful bouncy ball suddenly falls out of the sky and bounces off of his spiky head.

It's enough to give him a bit of a pause. The second time one falls onto his head he knows it's not just a fluke.]
Wha- [Looking up Vash takes just enough time to dorkishly scream and throw himself over Kitty as cascade of bright and colorful bouncy balls suddenly come raining down into the cargo bay.

The best thing about your girlfriend casual partner being a mutant means that Kitty phases the pair safely as the balls start to bounce and ricochet around the room. A banner that reads: HAPPY 136TH BIRTHDAY drifts down among the chaos. Soon after a bouncy ball with the Floot Loop logo smashes into the communicator and it tumbles to the floor. Turning off in the process.

But don't you worry! Vash will be back a bit later on his own looking grumpily into the camera as he shows the colorful mess on the floor of the cargo bay. Kitty and the banner now gone.]
Anyone want a free bouncy ball or hundred? Come clean them off my floor and they're yours.

[Why no. He has no clue that all that got broadcast! Want to clue the birthday boy in?]

(OOC: I am back from my sudden hiatus! Vash will be the one mostly answering on this post, but if you really want Kitty to respond please say so! Sorry for suddenly needing to vanish for about a month. I will be getting back to everyone who has tagged Vash and Manji [personal profile] canofmanji in August, but feel free to drop any threads. No hard feelings!)

Who: Cyril Lavellan
Broadcast: OPEN
Action: The Space Bar
When: After he wakes up.

[Network]

[Cyril has been asleep for the last few weeks and when he finally comes to he feels an odd sense of resignment over this whole thing. He really should be angrier, he thinks, but all he can really do is sigh, shake his head, and get really drunk.]

Well, I'm in a mood for a drink. If anyone wants to join me, I'll be at the Space Bar.

[Action]

[And that is exactly where he is after he makes this announcement. He seems pretty relaxed as he orders something strong and works to finish it off. He really doesn't want to seem contemplative or mopey, but he can't quite shake the realization that Atroma could literally do anything to him and he'd be powerless to stop them.

He hates not being able to control every little thing about his own body.

That's why he looks especially well tonight. His make up is even more on point than normal, his hair is perfectly placed, his clothes chosen to complement his form the best way he can, and everything about his body language is so tightly performative - purposely portraying the image of someone without a care in the world.

These are the things he does control. He controls how much alcohol he puts in his system and allows the fuzz to take away the edge of the sharp fear in his chest. He controls how much he smiles and jokes with those around him. He needs to believe that he maintains some level of control, because being reminded that the chip in his head means Atroma can play with him like a little toy makes an uneasiness settle over him he would very much like to ignore for now.

Who: Riona and you
Broadcast: Yes
Action: On the Blue Fish, if wanted
When: Today

[Riona has had to make some difficult network posts in her time here. And it's not the first time she's announced a departure. But this one weighs the heaviest on her, in some ways even more so than when Leliana left, or when the Starks departed. Because this does not affect just her, but so many others. Not to mention the position it's now left her in.

She had her cry, curled up in the empty captain's room. Her room, now. It doesn't feel right. This shouldn't be hers, but such are the rules, and such is Atroma's whim. For all the blows they've delivered against her, this is one of the worst by far. But she keeps her face composed and her body still, even as her hands tremble in her lap, fingers wound tightly together as she stares at the camera.]

Good evening, fleet. This is Riona speaking. Perhaps some of you may have already noticed, but... Sokka has gone home. His quarters are empty, and his name has been struck from the communication list. My sudden promotion to captain this morning solidified it. [The title still feels funny on her tongue. It's like she's an imposter. But she'd give anything to give the title back, if she could.] I haven't made it a habit to announce every departure I know of, but he was here for so long and knew so many... it didn't seem right not to say anything. He was one of the, if not the longest standing captain. He'd been here since very early on in this "cycle". He's been a constant presence and a good friend to many, myself included, and the fleet is lesser without him. Though I am glad he was finally able to return home after so long.

[There's so much more she could say: how much she would miss him, the matter of the items and forge he left behind, the usual ranting about how awful Atroma is... but frankly she's exhausted, and she needs to address the Blue Fish's crew, so she ends the public broadcast with:] Thank you for listening.

Your fearful trip is done (private message to the Blue Fish crew) )
