[On New Year's Day, the crew on board the Windrose and those nearby may notice the chill as the doors to the cargo bay are left open, and their captain making quite a bit of noise as she inspects their newly expanded home away from home. This is likely to go on for a while. Feel free to come investigate, chat among yourselves, complain about the cold, etc!]

What brings you to the Windrose?

I just brought some food by for the crew. It's in the kitchen. This ship doesn't have a cook assigned, and Natasha caught a lot of fish with me the other day.

It seems like they leave some interesting holes in the crew rosters of these ships.

[It's not exactly fresh, having been so heavily prepared, but it's certainly more actual-food textured than the protein cubes and gels.]

Yeah ... you really have to wonder if there's an actual person behind the assignments, or maybe it's just a machine picking randomly.

With how mysterious these Atroma are, I could believe either.

[Glitches in the picking? Sure. Some kind of strange ratings grab? Also depressingly possible.]

Have you ever seen them? The Atroma, that is.

I don't think anyone has. I think the most anyone's done is maybe talked to them, though I haven't personally.

[No one's mentioned anyone interacting with the Atroma to Leia before now. She perks up a little.]

Is there a way to get ahold of them? I wouldn't mind giving them a piece of my mind.

Not that I know of ... I think sometimes they just talk to us, if what I heard is right. [He rubs at the back of his neck.] I turned in some paperwork to transfer ships, though - I'm guessing that went to them. I don't know if that would help you with getting a message to them, but it might be worth trying.

That's not a bad idea. [By which I mean, LEIA'S TOTALLY TRYING THAT.] Better than waiting around for someone to take an interest, anyway.

I think you'd be waiting a long time for that to happen. They don't really seem too involved with what we do.

That's the sense I'm getting. [Dryly.] I guess involving themselves in the action leaves them a little too open to critique.

[He shrugs, like it's not an idea that bothers him much, but it does, in fact - it's something that hits a little too close to home, after what he's seen of the Midnight Channel. Still, he covers for it with a calm smile.]
