[ Obi-Wan is no stranger to waking up to unknown locations, but this seemed odd . . . even for him. He gropes for his lightsaber . . . which is gone, obviously. He huffs, before straightening himself and brushing his hair back. Communications . . . communications . . . ah, there it is.

A video feed. Somewhat archaic, but it'll do. He doubts anyone from the Republic will be nearby, but perhaps the locals will offer some aid. Obi-Wan clears his throat before speaking. It's time for his other skill set to come in use. ]

Greetings. My name is General Kenobi. To whom do I have the pleasure of addressing? And I don't suppose there is someone willing to answer my questions? Because I have a great deal many of them.

You're used to all this space stuff, huh.

I have to spend a lot of my time on ships, though I can't say I enjoy it.

Really?

I prefer my feet on solid ground, thank you. I'm a decent pilot, but I abhor flying. Unfortunately, that's where I usually am, most of the time.

That's too bad.

Why do you do it, then?

It was required of me. Personal biases can't be allowed when I am needed.

[ It was that simple. Whatever his complaints, his doubts or fears . . . they mean very little. ]

Under threat of what?

[ she can't envision it being a free will thing ]

[ His brow furrows lightly. ]

We are fighting a war. Did Ahsoka not mention that?

Oh. Yeah. She did.

As a Jedi, I do my part to end it as soon as possible and bring peace.

[ It sounds like rote, like a line from a passage. ]

How's that working for you?

[ He's faintly amused again. ]

As well as any war would, I imagine.

Why is the war being fought?

[ That's a trickier question to answer. He knows why, but it has layers of history and politics involved. ]

Ideological differences, to . . . some degree. Though, we suspect, it has to do with an opposing order named the Sith.

"Evil Sith lords?"

[ recalling an earlier conversation ]

That's . . . one way of putting it.

[ He can tell who came up with that turn of phrase. ]

The Sith are the Jedi's opposite. They support violence, war, death. They thrive on it.

They would put it that way?

They would leave behind a galaxy of fear and anger. And it would only make them stronger.

Some people just want control.

Among other things, yes. But they take control. Your fears, doubts . . . your very emotions become tools for the Sith to use against you.

That is the real danger.

So you try to not have any emotions?

That's not it. The Jedi have mastery over their emotions. To deny them is what invites destruction.

Yeah?

Pretending anger doesn't exist would be counter productive. Inviting anger in and letting it rule your decisions would also prove to be fruitless.

The Jedi . . . at least to me, have the middle ground.

[ Even Obi-Wan Kenobi has had moments of great rage, anger, fear . . . loss. But they pass him by, as all things do. ]

[ shrugs. she's unconvinced and will probably talk to ahsoka about it later ]

Seems like sometimes that's not enough. The middle ground.
