[ Obi-Wan is no stranger to waking up to unknown locations, but this seemed odd . . . even for him. He gropes for his lightsaber . . . which is gone, obviously. He huffs, before straightening himself and brushing his hair back. Communications . . . communications . . . ah, there it is.

A video feed. Somewhat archaic, but it'll do. He doubts anyone from the Republic will be nearby, but perhaps the locals will offer some aid. Obi-Wan clears his throat before speaking. It's time for his other skill set to come in use. ]

Greetings. My name is General Kenobi. To whom do I have the pleasure of addressing? And I don't suppose there is someone willing to answer my questions? Because I have a great deal many of them.

What has it taught you, General?

. . . A manner of peace that eluded me when I was younger.

[ For Obi-Wan, getting over Qui-Gon's death seemed insurmountable. Not to mention, he was suddenly a Jed Master, with his own Padawan. Recovery of self seemed dim, at the time. ]

That may be the difference between the two, then. You speak of it as though it is a destiny that guides you -- Hamon, however, is merely a tool.

[ It might be superfluous in the context of how the Fleet behaves, but it also reminds her of when she was younger and married to a military man. She doesn't mind it.

Still, he doesn't seem to be all that opposed to just using his regular name, so ... ]

If that's what you'd prefer. You'll be given a different title of sorts once you're sent to a ship, as I'm sure you've gleaned.

I certainly prefer my given name to a title.

[ And general would not be the one he would choose. ]

Yes, though I'm not sure how important my role actually is.

And why is that?

[ All the roles on the ships seem fairly important, after all ]

I've never been fond of flying, and yet for some reason, I seem to be assigned as a pilot.

From what I gather, being assigned a position you know very little about seems to be quite normal here.

So it is . . . normal then?

[ How would people, who have never been on a ship, suddenly develop these talents? Unless it was all augmented. That would explain a lot. ]

The part they have implanted in all of us supposedly contains any information they might need to effectively do their job. So I suppose it does not really matter what their experience in the past may have been.

[ Yes, but is that all they did? Recent history with implants gnaws at him. ]

Supposedly. I don't suppose we'll ever get the chance to study them.

I've read that trying to remove them causes intense pain and loss of consciousness. It seems unlikely.

But no one can remove it for others?

[ He'll have to ask Anakin. They won't lose much if their augments were removed. They already possessed the necessary skills. ]

I don't believe I've heard of someone attempting it.

[ So, you know, attempt at your own risk ]
