Winter || OTA

[reconstitution]

[ If you can happen to find Winter aboard the Heron with all the ships still being planet side, well done. While he can be found, his presence is very few and far between.

a. He may be found in the kitchen where it's just a little brighter, playing solitaire with himself, though his eyes very quickly move to the door at any sort of sound.

b. At various times throughout the day, Winter could be found in the cargo bay, breaking in the new recreation upgrade. The treadmill gets pretty frequent use, but there's also a punching bag (and it's even been reinforced to handle super soldier hi-jinx. Thanks, Atroma??) that he can be found giving the ol' one-two.

c. You may be able to catch him monitoring the halls, because there are new passengers, the ship is changed, and he's a paranoid guy.

d. And perhaps, if you are very lucky indeed, Winter can be found curled in an isolated corner, reading a book. ]

[She doesn't even try to be silent as she enters the kitchen. Everyone always seems to be able to tell when she's entered a room here anyway.

Instead, she just waves when she comes in, making sure to smile.]

Soooo. What are you playing there?

[ It's very easy to tell whenever Leanne is mobile. She sounds similar to an entire army clomping into the kitchen. He's relieved, honestly. Winter is able to at least prepare himself for when she does enter the room.

He looks down to the game and the deck of cards in his hand, back to her face. ]

Solitaire.

[One game she's never had the patience to learn.

She moves a little closer, eyes narrowed in thought.]

You don't get bored playing it?

[--Okay, maybe that wasn't the right thing to ask.]

[ What he doesn't say is that it helps with the errant thoughts. While he's comfortable enough around most of the crew now, he still doesn't go too much out of his way to socialize with them. ]

I guess it would be... [It's partly said to herself and she shakes her head, before looking back up at Winter.] You've gotta really concentrate if you're gonna win this game.

[ He's not going to elaborate upon that at all. Helps with what? Dealing with the crippling idleness of space? Helps with taxes? BEES?? ]

I guess so. And I guess... [She huffs out a laugh.] It's not really a bad thing to do when we're on the ship. It's not like our jobs take that much time.

[ He really hasn't used his augment's skill yet, and wonders if that will eventually bite him in the ass. Knowing his luck, it probably will. ]

[It strikes Vima that she doesn't know their ship's medic too well, which she ought to fix, because she needs all the doctor friends she can get she ought to be more familiar with her shipmates.

She's not exactly sure what he's doing in the halls here, though, so she just... watches him for a minute or so before speaking up.]

[ Don't worry, Vima, he's not much help when it comes to actually using his augment.. It's been 6 months and he still hasn't used it. That med bay probably stays dark most of the time.

He gets the feeling of being watched, and quickly spots the reason for it, looking her up and down. ]

Keeping an eye out.

[She waits a moment to see if he'll elaborate before asking the obvious question.]

Anything that doesn't belong.

[ It's really not about finding something, honestly. More about making sure that everything and everyone are in their proper place. If something is found, well, he can take care of it.

It's about the only thing that he feels useful around the ship for. There's not really much call for lab support.. ]

[That's a vague answer... course, Vima still thinks the first item in that category is themselves.]

You mean intruders, and that kind of thing? I suppose that's a plausible concern.

Anything can happen- the Atroma have proven that enough.

[ And he doesn't trust them as far as he could throw them. ]

True enough. [all that spacetime junk is enough without the other things they add on.] Do you think it's more than one entity, then?

[ Winter has at least seen Hinata around the ship before this occasion, so he's accustomed to the little guy's presence. Honestly, most of the crew is either asleep or in their rooms, so being approached is out of the ordinary.

He starts to deny the offering, but reasons that of all the people on the ship, Hinata is less threatening than the space rodents. He takes the offered jerky with a nod. ]

[he does grin really wide, though, when his offering is accepted. and when he talks, he even manages to stay quiet!]
