Who: Chara
Broadcast: Text
Action: Red Fish, if you dare.
When: during the day (as in not at 12:30 in the morning when I am posting this)

Just throwing an idea out here. If anyone can find medicine that actually works on these ridiculous space colds (and lets me have some), I will knit that person as many ugly sweaters as they want. I promise, astronaut's honor, or whatever they say out here.

[ Of course, those on the Red Fish also have to deal with this colossal trainwreck of an adolescent in person. More or less. They're kind of cooped up in their sweet counselor office, having created a makeshift nest of blankets and pillows (one from the bed they would normally use, the rest from the couch in said office), though they are occasionally willing to leave the office. Mostly just for food, though if anyone is in the kitchen at these times, they will get to deal with this kid kind of giving them shifty eyes the entire time.

Enjoy your meal! ]

Hello, this is Dr. Crusher, one of the medics aboard the Blue Fish. I have a good supply of the Surrit's medication and I can vouch from personal experience that it does work - though maybe not quite as quickly as any of us would like. I'm more than happy to bring you some. Payment isn't necessary.

[Oh dear, having to explain this again.]

When it comes to the well being of my patients, I do. No one should have to pay for treatment.

[Eh, it happens when you're the only one from a future socialist utopia.]

I know that's how it works in a lot of worlds, but not in mine. Believe me, I'm not in this for money or anything other than trying to help people.

If you are feeling up to it. If not, I can make a house call.

All right. If you're sure, I'll be in the clinic.

[Whenever Chara gets to the Blue Fish's sickbay, Beverly will be at the microscope, studying something in a petri dish very closely. But when she hears Chara come in, she'll straighten up to greet them.]

Hello, I'm Dr. Crusher. You must be the person I spoke to earlier, about the cold medication?

[Beverly smiles warmly. Ma'am is just fine.]

Come in, come in, have a seat!

[She gestures towards one of the chairs, rather than the exam table, hoping that will make them feel not quite so anxious.]

I never caught your name earlier.

[Alas, Beverly is 100% human - albeit one who is completely unfazed by other species.]

Absolutely.

[Even if it wasn't okay, she'd find a work around.]

Though, I will need to do a quick examination, just to make sure it's only the cold and nothing else, and to make sure I'm giving you the correct dosage. Is there anything I ought to know first? Allergies, major illness in the past, anything like that?

[It's not a full medical history, not like she would like but well... she's been here long enough to know that upsets some people who aren't used to this sort of thing. The tricorder will pick up a lot in any case.]

[She nods. Again, not all that surprising to her.]

That's alright... we'll just take it one step at a time, okay? If you have any questions at any time, it's perfectly fine to ask.

You’re fine as you are.

[She picks up the tricorder from a nearby desk.]

This is what I’m going to use to scan you. It’ll record all your vital signs - blood pressure, temperature, heart rate - and will take less than a minute. If you like, I can demonstrate it on myself first?

It's no trouble at all!

[She detaches a small, cylindrical scanner from the device, then turns the rest of the tricorder towards Chara so they can see the screen (which looks something like this). As Beverly runs the handheld scanner over her body, vitals will start popping up on the screen, along with such things as her approximate age (late 40s), height (5'8"), and weight (???). As she promised, it takes hardly any time at all.]

Not at all. Trust me, I want this to be as painless as possible for people.

So, are you ready?

[Beverly proceeds with the scan which, as it did with her, takes no time at all. She smiles reassuringly when she finishes.]

No surprises here, just a few typical cold symptoms. No fever, even, which is good. Though if you do find you're getting too hot or too cold over the next few days, let me know.

[And it's a good thing she checked their weight, so she can give a smaller dose. She goes to the medicine cabinet and deposits a week's worth of the Surrit medication into a small container, which she then gives to Chara.]

Take one of these pills each day after your first meal. If the cold doesn't clear up in a week, I can give you some more, but so far I haven't seen any problems with it.
