[... if they're here. Kanan is showing a rare amount of discretion by saying nothing else. His observations from other new arrivals has given him the intel he needs - it's a holodrama with secret recording devices hidden everywhere. It wasn't your run of the mill Imperial gig. So for now, he was going to avoid drawing attention to himself.

In the meantime, he's on the Marsiva exploring. Rather than stand gaping out the windows at space, he's trying to get a sense of the size of the ship he's on. Unfortunately it's not always easy going in a straight line among twisting and turning hallways and trying to hold numbers in his head is not easy. It would be a shame if he lost his count.]

[ The Ghost? Must be one of Hera Syndulla's comrades. ]

I'm afraid the Ghost is not in range, though one of your crew is here. Hera Syndulla, correct?

[... that voice. At first, he can't place it. But then he has only to think of the holocron and the last time it was played by Ezra. Then he has only to think of a young Caleb Dume pestering a Jedi Master over questions about the Jedi beacon.

He's wary, if only because the last Jedi Master he looked for was a corpse on ice being used to lure in other Jedi.]

Not at all. I'm sure you two will be able to catch up in no time. In the meanwhile, I'm here for questions, if you like.

[ Obi-Wan, you've barely been here. ]

[Are you really Obi-Wan? What really happened?]

Well, I heard that we're all in the stars of some live holodrama. So how much of a cut do we get as performers?

[beardstrokes]

It depends. How good are you at performing? I imagine, the most tense and dramatic the situation is, the more we benefit from it.

[ Obi-Wan probably has enough money by now. He's brought nothing but drama with him. ]

[neverknight]

Well I wouldn't call myself a star, but I've been known to pull off a few good performances in my time. [He did a few numbers as stormtroopers. When it came to his audience - he killed.] Different life, different choices - I could have been big.

[Maybe even a Jedi Master.]

[beardstrokes]

[ He straightens slightly, folding his arms. ]

My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi. And whom do I have the pleasure of talking to?

[Well, if there wasn't any doubt before...]

Kanan Jarrus. Freelance... whatever it is I do. [Which really is just about anything he has to do.] You're the same Obi-Wan from the Clone Wars?

[beardstrokes]

The one and the same.

[ Recognition no longer surprises him, at this point. ]

That seems like a very unclear job description.

Well you know, some days I'm a pilot, other days I'm a gunner, then other days I'm dodging Imperial goons. You just never really know when you wake up in the morning.

[beardstrokes]

[ Imperial . . . Ah, yes, the new corrupt Empire. His expression flickers, but briefly. ]

No. I imagine the galaxy is . . . chaotic right now.

[ A diplomatic answer, though not a decent one. ]

[neverknight]

Only if it's a day ending in 'y'. But that's just what I've been doing. What about you?

[beardstrokes]

I'm still fighting the Clone Wars, I'm afraid. I can't say the end is in sight.

[ Because it isn't, and apparently they fail miserably. ]

But I'm sure you're aware of that.

I-- What. What?

[Well maybe it was a little strange now that Obi-Wan looked more or less the same as when Kanan was a kid, but a small video feed wasn't enough to lead him to concluding anything like this. At least not unless there was some remote part of the galaxy where Kenobi had become some crazed Jedi stuck across enemy lines fighting battle droids for the last fifteen years, but that seemed incredibly unlikely given his holocron message.]

[beardstrokes]

[ His surprise is startling. ]

I am still fighting in the Clone Wars. Was that part unclear?

[neverknight]

The war is over. It's been over.

[So maybe he had picked up on this business about holodramas and the Atroma, but he somehow missed this aspect of things.]

[beardstrokes]

So I have heard from your associate, but I can assure, the war is far from over for me.

[ Ah, so it was a timeline issue. He should have guessed. ]

[neverknight]

... is that really healthy, though?

[At least with Rex and the other clones, they might be sticking to their old unit, but at least they were... well, riding around in a clunker hunting giant worm-creatures. But that somehow seemed better.]

[beardstrokes]

I'm not speaking from a metaphorical sense. I'm saying it quite literally. I come from a time period prior to yours.

[neverknight]

I see. [Time travel? Some sort of stasis? Or something unique to the Atroma? He's not sure just now. But it suddenly makes everything that much more complicated. This isn't Obi-Wan a fellow survivor of the Jedi purge.

No, this was Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi who was an authority of the Jedi Way, which was something Kanan hadn't been doing for a very long time now.]

So... you don't know anything. Do you?

[beardstrokes]

[ He quirks an eyebrow, his expression slightly tinged with exasperation and exhaustion. It hasn't been that long since Hera's explanation. ]

I know enough. Whether I know everything is debatable, but I doubt I will. Hera did impress upon me . . . what lead to the state of the galaxy currently.

[neverknight]

Not surprising. Things like that... Well, they make people like us.

[Both of them had their stories of what they were and what it was like before the Empire. But that was like another lifetime ago. He can only wonder what Obi-Wan must think of this knowledge.]

[beardstrokes]

[ People like us. He sucks in a deep breath, searching for his inner calm. The Jedi are gone. His family is gone. ]

What they make us out to be is hardly the sum of our parts.

[neverknight]

Maybe not, but the two of us have made do with all our parts in tact. [A Jedi, though. A real Jedi. If Ezra was here...]

I don't know how much she told you, but I can try to clear anything up, if you even want to hear about it.

[beardstrokes]

No.

[ It sounds a little sharp, and he winces. Then he softens his tone. ]

Not yet. In due time, I will ask and know in turn. The Force will guide me.
