[Blake has been trying to explore the Marsiva as much as she can, spending a few days watching the network and generally learning as much as she can. It took a while to adjust to the idea of being kidnapped like this, and not being in imminent peril. She doesn't like this, or trust it. But she should play along for now, so she opens up a video to the network.]

Hello. My name is Blake. I understand the basics of what's going on, so I only have a few questions. Is it possible to get our weapons back here, or construct new ones?

Well, you probably won't be able to get your weapon back any time soon, but you came at a good time. I mean, the planet we're stopped at seems to have a big hunting industry, so there should be some weapons around for sale once you get transferred off the Marsiva.

[I mean, obviously hunting is what you're going to use it for, right?]

Ah, you might have to borrow some money or do some part time jobs to make some money, though. And we should be getting out of range within a week, so you might be pushing it kind of close.

I can work fast if I have to. If there's a workshop here, I can probably make something for myself.

How long does this fleet normally stay at planets?

Well, even though I say "stopped at", it's more like "is in range of stopping at"... Well, it's about a month either way. Still, with the Marsiva's current speed, the last day should be Monday.

[So earning enough for a weapon in just a weekend doesn't seem likely, not to mention the time it would take to build a replica of Gambol Shroud...]

What kind of jobs are there here?

Hmm... There should be a few courier jobs, at least...

...That's weird. I can't seem to find any information on job opportunities around here for some reason. Sorry, it seems like this planet's a bad place for jobs. Even the random docking stations in the middle of nowhere had more jobs than this place.

...It seems like almost all the ways to make money here involve hunting. There should be some jobs available, but they don't seem to let non-citizens take any jobs involving salt, and that's... almost everything around here.

I think someone managed to make some money by buying some salt and making crafts out of it, but it's hard to tell what level of quality's needed to make money on that.

So I can't get a weapon unless I get money, I can't get money unless I hunt, and I can't hunt unless I get a weapon.

That's... how it goes at first, I'm afraid. You should periodically have money added to your account, but that still takes time that we don't really have any more. You might need to wait until we reach our next destination to get a weapon, by the looks of things.

If you end up on a ship with a security officer, getting a weapon's no problem. Or make friends with one from another ship, that works too.

What kind of weapons do they have?

Mostly guns, as far as I know. Though apparently some people have found swords. Beyond that, I'm not sure.

Well, there's lots of smart people here. Maybe you can find an innovative craftsman who can make you something similar to what you're used to.

I haven't seen her in a while, actually. [ Doesn't even know what ship she was assigned to, so he couldn't even check. ] Unless she got eaten by snow monsters or something, which someone would probably have heard about, I have no idea where she's gone.

Well, I haven't heard the sounds of indignation in a while, either. I'm not sure where she's gone off to. Atroma might have put her back home.

[ He sort of shrugs. ] What kind of augment did you get? [ An augment usually tells him more about the person, these days. And it's just like a netnavi to be more worried about the little data box than anything else at first. ]
