[ As promised, in a few days time, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan make their way to the markets. They dress warmly, Obi-Wan procuring a thick cloak for himself. It's hard to feel like a Jedi Master without one.

He watches as Ahsoka flits from stall to stall as he lingers behind her, to correct her on her "bargaining" technique. In a way, they resemble a teenager, saddled with a wiser all-knowing uncle. He strokes his beard in light amusement. This is probably what he needed right now, a reassessment of his priorities, the here and now. ]

[Ahsoka chuckles.]

Oh, probably.

[But that's not important right now. Ahsoka diverts her attention to the stew, taking a spoonful and blowing on it for a second, cautious not to burn herself. Then she puts it in her mouth.]

[resnipstance]

[Her face brightens instantly, the second she puts it in her mouth.]

Mm!

[Wait. Don't talk while your mouth is full, Ahsoka. She chews and swallows.]

Wow! That's delicious! [Immediately spooning herself another mouthful.]

[She immediately puffs up in pride.]

I'm glad you like it. It's my favorite, so I like to think I've gotten pretty good at making it.

[resnipstance]

It definitely shows!

[She digs in enthusiastically. In between bites:]

Mmm! We never get anything like this on our ship!

Well, now you know where to get good food from.

And being able to hunt my own ingredients around here doesn't hurt.

Tell me about it.

As much as I don't like the cold, I am not looking forward to going into space again.

[she trails off and pauses.]

... Do you ever wonder what would happen if we just didn't get back on the ships...?

[resnipstance]

Of course.

There're only two possibilities, right? First, they just-- magically teleport us back on, like how they got everyone on the Marsiva. I mean. If they can pluck us out from across a galaxy, what's one planet?

Or second, that they just leave us here. And then we're stuck here. On this rock. Forever.

We're stuck, on a planet with access to spacefaring technology, where we can make ridiculous amounts of money very quickly.

If we want to get to the Atroma, we're going to have to start breaking rules.

[resnipstance]

I don't disagree with you, but... you realise they're probably recording everything we say, right?

There's no point in coming up with a plan if they already know what the plan is.

[Ahsoka gives Nightingale a look then, and she hopes that Nightingale gets the gist of it: "I agree with you, but we need a way to talk that isn't going to be overheard."]

... You realize they have tech implanted into our brains?

I don't think there's anything we can do they won't know about. So we just have to have a plan they can't do anything about even if they know.

In that case... why not test first if they can read our minds?

... Were you around when we were on the Marsiva and they ran the heart games?

Going inside symbolic representations of people's minds and heart. Seeing a bunch of their memories.

You don't know that they can read our minds all the time.

You think about stuff the Atroma wouldn't like us to do, well in advance of doing them. Then start doing them. See if there's any you can get away with.
