[ As promised, in a few days time, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan make their way to the markets. They dress warmly, Obi-Wan procuring a thick cloak for himself. It's hard to feel like a Jedi Master without one.

He watches as Ahsoka flits from stall to stall as he lingers behind her, to correct her on her "bargaining" technique. In a way, they resemble a teenager, saddled with a wiser all-knowing uncle. He strokes his beard in light amusement. This is probably what he needed right now, a reassessment of his priorities, the here and now. ]

Right. That's what - [ That's what Kanan has been trying to teach Ezra, she almost says. And maybe he's trying to teach himself, too, a little. ]

That makes a certain kind of sense, I guess. I mean, in a tight situation, you have to stay calm if you want to make the right choices. Still, it's got to be tough.

[ The Empire does so much to make her angry. ]

It's tough not to just lash out sometimes, even when you know it won't actually solve anything.

It is difficult, but it has to be done. Jedi have more power than anyone else. A single Jedi can tip the scales to many conflicts, even the galaxy itself.

[ His voice is firm. ]

It doesn't matter how badly you've been hurt. The minute you succumb, you're a danger to everyone.

Mm, and we all know how easy it is for power to corrupt.

[ She sees it every day, in the Imperial agents. ]

But you also can't stop people from feeling things. Especially children. That kind of control takes a lot of work, I imagine.

[ Especially for someone like Ezra, who's lost so much. ]

[ He sighs. He keeps hearing this and he's debating whether it's worth making an announcement about the Jedi.

Jedi do not renounce feelings. Or say you should not feel them. Anger, love, even hate are normal experiences and should be experienced. What they shouldn't do is fester until all you know is anger and hate.

[ Hera smiles faintly. ]

You sound like you get that a lot. A common misconception?

Exceedingly common. Especially now, when people know so little of the Jedi.

Well, it can be easy to misinterpret. Especially if you're a kid, I imagine. Everything is just so intense when you're a teenager.

That only really applies to those not Temple-raised. That's why we start young.

Are they all orphans, then?

[ Steady look. ]

[ He frowns. ]

No, at least not in the way you mean. They're children raised by the Jedi at an early age. We have a way of sensing Force-sensitive children.

[ She waves a hand vaguely. ]

The Force leads you to them, I assume?

[ Like how Kanan just knew Ezra was sensitive, without having to see him do anything. ]

Yes, I suppose you can say that.

[ He eyes her. ]

It seems to me you're comparing this knowledge of the Jedi to someone else's experiences.

What? [ Oops. She gives him her most innocent look. ] I'm just curious. I've never talked to an actual Jedi before.

[ Which is technically true! ]

And I qualify as such?

[ She's not lying, but there's definitely something more involved here. ]

[ Is there something you're not telling her, Obi-Wan???? ]

[ Hmm. Lately, he hasn't been feeling like the most consummate Jedi. ]

I suppose to most, I must seem like a paragon.

Hah! Well, I don't know about that. I mean - I'm sure you're a fine example of a Jedi! But you're the closest thing to an expert I've ever met.

[ A galaxy without Jedi. It's disheartening to hear. ]

[ She makes a face. ] Even talking about the Jedi can get you arrested for sedition or treason.

I'm not surprised. The Sith have won a victory that will last for a long time. I suppose, in a way, it is balance.
