Who: Koala and you!
Broadcast: From the Marsiva
Action: SS Huntress later on.
When: January 9th.
A.) VIDEO BROADCAST
Ah -- I was asleep! I don't remember being tired; maybe I slept badly the night before.
[The higher pitch of a child's voice — one that looks about eight or nine by the size of her, though she's a bit older than that — pops up on the broadcast; Koala herself is clearly a bit confused, a little troubled by her sudden lack of recollection over the last few hours. Last she remembers, she had... been on the deck of... Yes, she had been sailing with the Sun Pirates as usual, and Hatchan was teasing her by having her guess where something was in one of his many hands.
.... What is this, though?
She stares at the room around her, polished and not at all a pirate ship.
Her heart skips a beat. Her cheeks hurt a little, the corners of her mouth twisting.]
... Hello?
Did — Did we dock?
[Did they leave her behind? Did Fisher Tiger grow tired of her? Perhaps he had realized he did not like her cry, the way she wailed what felt like so long ago. Maybe he resented it more than she realized. She's thankful for her life if that's the case, glad that she was not cut down for being a nuisance, but... but now... how will she get to her mother now?]
Where... is the crew...?
[The silence is very scary, but not the scariest she's faced. She plants her bare feet on the floor, curling her hands in her yellow dress. It's the only one she owns, and she's not sure she likes it even now, but they gave it to her and she expects to honor that. Her slave clothes were a bit torn anyway. She regrets not waking with shoes, but it's a nice floor. It's very clean, very much the place of richer families.
Is... Could she be... back in...
She shakes faintly at the thought, mortified for a moment until she sees the strange device. For some reason, she thinks maybe she knows how to use it? But where would such a thought exist from? She's used to far different ways to talk...
If this is — in fact a new... owner. Then she needs to be prepared to do whatever she must. Hopefully she's allowed to speak. She gives a creepily wide smile, eyes round and full of faked anticipation and contentedness. When she speaks, it's high and eager, ready to work. And that smile does not waver for even a moment.]
Hello! I'm sorry — Where will I be stationed?
I'll get to it right away!
[Telling them you're good at your job is not smart. They may think you're gloating about your skills. That could earn unwanted attention. Best to stick with simply explaining your compliance and moving along to do the next task. Don't panic! Everything will be okay! Yes! You will survive! Just keep smiling.]
B.) ACTION — SS HUNTRESS
[Later on when the shuffle is processed, Koala boards her ship good and proper — she's nervous, so nervous, but she has to remind herself that it will all be alright as long as she does whatever it is that's needed of her. She can clean, she can make things look proper! How nice is this ship, anyway? She'll get right to it! Because of this, one can find her scrubbing the chairs and counter tops down, or carefully mopping the halls. Be careful not to slip! That would be tragic. It's not like we have any caution: wet floor signs. Also, we promise she's not from Children of the Corn, but sometimes when you turn around where you're at? She's right there, beaming up at you with that wide-set smile. She's got prune-y hands wringing a cleaned rag and a little dust on her yellow dress.]
I've polished the kitchen counters! Does anything need to be cleaned?

B
Did you . . . clean all of this?
no subject
Y-yes! I did. I've been keeping myself very active! Sir!
[She's not sure what he'd prefer to be labeled, but 'sir' is usually pretty safe.]
no subject
You've done an excellent job. But perhaps it's time for a break.
no subject
... A break?
[is this a test]
I'm still very energized. I can do much more!
[Just so you know! I'm totally not tired! Not even a yawn in sight.]

Marhi had intended on a snack, but now she has this to contend with. So what greets Koala is a blue lady, quite short, with fluffy tuxedo black-and-white ears and a tail. She smiles in a carefully friendly manner, not showing any of her longer fangs.
She finds nothing unusual about the cleaning, only the smile. ]
I believe that is all that might be cleaned and then more. It is a well done job.
no subject
It's not a fishman. But she's learned some are good — yes, she would say so. They're not all so bad. Arlong used to hit her sometimes, but Jinbei and Hatchan, they were kinder. More caring than she ever anticipated a fishman to be. She hopes that this woman is as nice as the Sun Pirates could be. After all, she speaks very kindly.
... Did she just compliment her? She flusters just a bit.]
There's nothing else you'd like me to do?
I can learn new things! I've made drinks sometimes. I can carry things for you.
no subject
An unusual idea, given Marhi's normally quite invested in being seen exactly as threatening as she is, but crying children are not her forte. Children aren't her forte at all, unless they need to learn how to wave weapons around. If only Ranmaia were here to sing something...
She holds out a battle-callused hand politely. ]
If you are a new member of the crew, first we should make introductions. I am Marhi Ohsi, or Metallic Gold Magpie - use whichever you like better.

A hdu post while I'm napping
...hmm.]
I'm afraid you don't have much crew there, kiddo. It's kind of complicated.
B-) that's what you get for napping like a human
It's pretty out there, even for Koala. But it sure is too fancy to brush off.]
....There aren't any ships?
It's okay — I can work for whoever needs it!
RUDE
Ah-- there are plenty of ships, though! You'll get sent to one soon, but people there will be very welcoming. Have you... been on a ship like this before? Or an ocean one?

[Greed is not surprised at all to see her come up to him. If anything, he seems pleased in that kind of psychotic serial killer way he has about him at times. But it's okay, he's friendly! He gives her a pat on the head.]
Atta girl! You must be the new cabin girl. My name's Greed and I'm the captain of this vessel. [... one of the captains. But let's ignore that detail.]
no subject
Good, Koala. Keep up the good work.]
Yes! Hello, Mr. Greed!
I was assigned to your ship. I can do whatever needs to be done, like cleaning or washing clothes — or fixing beds or retrieving things for you.
[She does have a rather unsettlingly wide smile, clearly not very natural.
And it won't go away, so deal with it.]
Is there anything you need?
no subject
Oh, I need everything. But seeing as you're a half-pint runt, we can stick with the cleaning for now. [He kneels down to get a good look at her. She's a scrawny little brat, but that's fine.] It just so happens there's a mess of laundry that needs doing. The bathroom floors have gotten sticky, the cockpit could use some spit and polish, and I'd be lying if I said my boots didn't lack their usual shine.
[Another headpat. Yeah, this will be alright.]
What's your name, kid?

[action]
it's in reading that he gets the feeling he's being watched, and he blinks, lowering the book to promptly be greeted by a wide-eyed beaming child is about a foot away from his face. ]
Wha --
[ there's a jolt, and han drops his book with a hissed string of curses in what's probably not actually english. ]
Don't do that -- who are you? -- why are you cleaning everything?
[ pause ]
Are you supposed to be cleaning everything?
[ is that an augment, who the fuck brought a small child on board, is this greed's fault ]
[action]
The man is a little intimidating. She reminds herself to endear to him enough that he doesn't kick her into space or hurt her -- even if Greed told her he wouldn't let anyone hurt her. He could abandon her and tell them she tripped out the eject hatch!
If there's such a thing!]
Yes! I'm sorry, sir! I hope I didn't startle you too badly, I'm sorry! I'm Koala, and I'm -- I am the cabin girl, and I am under ownership of the Captain and the others aboard the ship!
I'll do whatever you need of me!
Do you have boots to be shined?
[She says it as she drops to her knees to examine his shoes, of course.
smile smile smile]
[action]
No.
[ dryly, and han turns his chair slightly, so koala doesn't actually start shining his shoes. thank you very much. ]

Were you given an assignment when you arrived? Communications, or maintenance, or something like that?
[smile smile smile
It's a wide and slightly creepy one, like she's forcefully holding it in place.]
I... I think I'm maintenance! I don't know why I know, but I think that's me.
no subject
[And a little pause, as she tries to figure out just how to ask the obvious question.] Are you all right? You look a little... [Manic.] Lost.

Though you have an augment, you are not required to follow through on it if you do not wish to.

It's alright! I don't mind. I'm a very good worker, and I swear I'll keep up on whatever anyone needs me to do. It's really no trouble, none at all! I'll do whatever you need me to.
