[Vima is a regular visitor to this particular Fish... so she is surprised to turn up in her shuttle and find it locked.]

Huh?

[She could page Dr. Crusher, but first she'll try using the Force... but it's a little too fiddly.

So she'll just try hacking into it. She's never studied computer slicing but hey, there's a first time for everything, right?]

[Beverly saw Vima's shuttle coming in from the bridge, so she goes ahead and goes to the docking bay to let her in. There's a video screen on the inside of the door, to show her who is on the other side. Given the current atmosphere on the Blue Fish, she checks the screen, just to make sure it really is Vima.

However, once she verifies that it is indeed her, Beverly's curiosity gets the best of her... so, with an amused look on her face, she waits to see what Vima does.]

[Vima is discovering she has basically no skill points in Computer Use, and she's getting more frustrated--for a fleeting moment she wishes for her lightsaber, but then, she'd never use it on someone's door unless it was an emergency...

and then she pays some attention to what else she's feeling and realizing: oh, hey. Beverly is here.]

Hey, Doc, what's with the seal?

My, breaking and entering is really becoming a habit of yours isn’t it?

[Her tone is light and joking - she just couldn’t let resist a little teasing. In this case, it’s also a sign of forgiveness for what happened in the calibrations. After all, Vima didn’t really hurt anything and she’s extremely fond of the young Jedi, nosiness and all.

After Beverly punches in the appropriate code, the door slides open, letting Vima in.]

Sorry, I meant to call you after Sokka installed the locks. I’m afraid you’re going to have to let me know when you’re coming for a visit from now on so I can let you in.

I don't seem to make a point of knocking on doors. In general.

[Dr. Crusher's ship--and the inside of her head--is just the latest, after Ulic and the mining pods. She hops on through the door, though she does have some concern.]

What's the matter? Did you have a break-in?

[dancingmd]

No, there's... it's much worse than that, I'm afraid. One of the new arrivals might be a danger to several members of the crew. She's from their world and has tried to kill them before.

[Or will try to kill them, in her future, their past. No need to complicate things though.]

[Vima lets out a hiss. She doesn't like the sound of that... she remembers when Master Thon was attacked by his apprentice. He was one of the few who survived.]

Trust Atroma to raise the stakes. What's her name?

[The answer doesn't come immediately, because of that hiss. She hopes Vima isn't getting any Jedi ideas here.]

Azula. She's Zuko's sister.

[YOU SAY JEDI IDEAS LIKE IT'S A PERFECTLY JUSTIFIED CONCERN BAD THING, WOW.

but Vima does note the pause before the answer.]

His sister? Wow... that's messed up.

And it's not some 'I got caught up working for evil people without realizing it' situation?

[which happened with a couple of not-Jedi siblings in the Great Hyperspace wars, though how you join conquering Sith Lords without figuring it out is beyond Vima.]

[Beverly shakes her head emphatically.] No, it's not. Zuko is doing what he can to mitigate the situtation and we're supporting him. For right now, the less she knows about him, about us, about their situation at home, the better.

That sounds sensible. I'll keep my eye out, too. [though part of Vima is also curious, she's not about to make any plans to have tea with Azula.

That's one heck of a way to start the week.

[Vima.

Beverly sighs.]

You're telling me.

[Small smile.]

But I'm sure we'll get through it. This is a good crew.

Yeah. You guys all seem pretty tight-knit. [Vima attributes this primarily to Crusher's influence.] She'll have a hard time trying anything.

Have you been okay? I know how much you care about your crew here.

[dancingmd]

[No doubt Beverly has some role to play in that, but if you were to ask her, she’d attribute the loyalty and dedication of the crew mostly to Sokka.]

I’m all right… mostly I’m just worried about Zuko.

[tobeajedi]

[Vima nods. Perfectly understandable.]

That has to be really hard on him. I'm sure he knows that you have an open door, though, right? Although I don't know if that means he'll walk in of his own accord.

He knows.

[She made sure of that, at the very least.]

But you're right... I can't make him talk to me if he doesn't want to.

Yeah. Sometimes people aren't good at asking for what they need... still, he has enough people that he'll have to really work to be isolated, if that what he's going to try for.

[dancingmd]

I'm not too worried about that... Sokka and Katara and Toph all know him well, they won't let him isolate himself too much.

[tobeajedi]

Good. [Vima knows from experience that trying to cope in isolation can be a recipe for disaster.] And if things go wrong, well, he's got a good doctor to fix him up.

[dancingmd]

[Beverly gives Vima a small tight smile.] I just hope things don't get to that point. I'm grateful that I haven't had to do much more than tend to a few bruises and sniffles with my crewmates, and I'd like to keep it that way.
