I just got some more presents from our wonderful sponsors. Should I open the crate or just send it directly out the airlock? I guess I should open it, if only to engender some more good will.

[The sarcasm in her voice is obvious. Nonetheless, Jennifer takes the time to pry off the lid, carefully examining and setting out each item, the distaste evident on her face the further she goes. It's all cheese-related in some way- except there's no actual edible cheese involved. Scented soaps, candles, a novelty foam hat shaped like a wedge of cheese... even a plush toy cow.]

Oh, boy, they must have seen the basket Atroma gave me after they let us off the Marsiva... [This was said more to herself than anyone else, but then she addresses everyone again.] So, uh, does anybody want any cheese-scented soap? I'm sure it's... it's quite pleasant if you like cheese that much.

Nice. Do you travel a lot for work?

In a sense. I traveled to another galaxy, in point of fact, though I couldn't tell anyone at home exactly where I was or what I was doing. I worked for the U.S. military, so it was hush hush and I had a list of nondisclosure agreements 10 miles long. I figured that doesn't matter as much here, though, so I talk about it more freely.

. . . so. What you're telling me is you have a little more professional experience with this kind of thing than most.

[He gives a lopsided grin, still taking in the full implications of that. Secretly exploring other galaxies with the US government. Not exactly rounds at the hospital, huh.]

Yeah. I mean, I was stationed at a base where I was the head medic so I didn't go offworld as much as my scientist and soldier teammates, but I'm no stranger to interplanetary travel.

Well that's handy. So does the augment give you any new, special knowledge you didn't have before? Any- I don't know, space doctor levels of insight?

If it has, I haven't discovered any new knowledge yet. Which makes it a bit useless.
