I think it's time I retire from teaching for a while.

I don't suppose anyone knows a decent way to pass the time?

[ When Stefan announced the prayer room, a quiet place for meditation, Obi-Wan had been thrilled. While he enjoyed and cared for the Huntress, quiet is not something they are known for. After talking to Anakin, he knew he was in dire need of quiet and inner peace

He does not regret ( he can not regret )

And yet.

In a way he had envisioned as a child, it had always been Master and Padawan, together. Even when separate, they fought together, learned together, believed in each other. But Qui-Gon died all too soon, and for so long, Obi-Wan threw his hands up against tradition. When Yoda told him to be Anakin's master, he chose to be Anakin's friend. He did not caution against attachment, only warned where it might lead.

He breathes heavily, his legs folded on the mat. It's not working. The Force is still too quiet, too alien at this moment. It doesn't understand his sorrow.

Obi-Wan chuckles, opening his eyes and pushing his hair back. It should be used to that by now.

Looking down at his hands, he's quiet when he speaks. ]

Please help me.

A General should be with his men at all times. If he cannot undertake the risks, then he should not be appointed as one.

Such belief is not always common among the top brass in my experience, I'm afraid.

No, I imagine it's not standard military protocol.

As a Jedi called to war, it's unimaginable to me to not risk my life when others are risking theirs.

A rare and admirable quality. Our lot could have used some of that during the last one.

Perhaps.

But ours is still going on.

Some credit should be given to people who managed to end a war. It's not an easy task.

More like a thousand little impossible tasks all stacked up against one another.

And everyone realized the cost.

My apologies for discussing something so personal.

I imagine that's the tricky thing with matters like these -- a war can be both intensely personal, and horrifically global.

I'm open to suggestions for a topic change.

I never did have much time for the arts, though I have a healthy appreciation for them.

Shouldn't be difficult to begin, so long as you've got the credits. The station below has all sorts of odds and ends up for sale.

I don't suppose you have a recommendation for an instrument?

It's a bit presumptuous on a first meeting but I feel you would have good judgement.

I've not got much of a musical bone in my body, I'm afraid. But good sense suggests you ought to pick something portable. And compact. We're not getting any roomier on these ships.

Have you lot got guitars where you come from?

I'm afraid not.

We have various kinds of lutes, horns . . . A lot of flutes that can be played through the nose, but I'll pass on those. I don't have the hot air for it.

You might as well call them lute-ish, in that case. Wide-bodied, but easily carried. Strummed. Quite folksy and beautiful in the right hands.

I doubt my hands are the right ones then.

You can't look to learn something and then balk the moment you're told it might take some doing. Believe you me, a beginner's guitar strums are far more easily lived with in close quarters than a great many other instruments.
