I think it's time I retire from teaching for a while.

[ When Stefan announced the prayer room, a quiet place for meditation, Obi-Wan had been thrilled. While he enjoyed and cared for the Huntress, quiet is not something they are known for. After talking to Anakin, he knew he was in dire need of quiet and inner peace

He does not regret ( he can not regret )

And yet.

In a way he had envisioned as a child, it had always been Master and Padawan, together. Even when separate, they fought together, learned together, believed in each other. But Qui-Gon died all too soon, and for so long, Obi-Wan threw his hands up against tradition. When Yoda told him to be Anakin's master, he chose to be Anakin's friend. He did not caution against attachment, only warned where it might lead.

He breathes heavily, his legs folded on the mat. It's not working. The Force is still too quiet, too alien at this moment. It doesn't understand his sorrow.

Obi-Wan chuckles, opening his eyes and pushing his hair back. It should be used to that by now.

Looking down at his hands, he's quiet when he speaks. ]

I did tell you I was boring. It's hardly my fault you chose not to listen.

I'll consider it. The Huntress is a lovely ship, but rarely quiet.

There's a library on there, too. That tends to be quiet. Otherwise, not so much on the quiet front.

That's something that's very weird, honestly. By now Atroma would have just made a couple new SS ships.

They have frozen the credit line to us. Perhaps they're suffering from financial difficulties of their own. An expedition of this size and continually growing. . . either they're not all in accord or something has happened that we cannot account for.

Well, that's a worrying thought. Makes sense, though. Who knows, maybe they'll be cancelled and we can all get out of here.

...Or rot here forever too, I guess. That's a possibility.

No space journey could last forever. I'm sure there is an end in sight. We simply do not know what it is.

Could be years before we reach that end.

Perhaps. But I do not think it will.

Even in a wide galaxy, you can run out of places to go to.

Not necessarily. I suppose the possibility exists, but it seems rather limited. Many other options, I'm sure, are open to us and will prevail the longer we go on until we manage to overthrow the Atroma.

We can't allow that to happen. It's stating the obvious, but it is true, nevertheless.

They did? What did they say?

Not much. It was when we were all stuck on the Marsvia during what they called Calibrations. Basically we were forced to sleep every night and then we wandered through everyone else's mindspace. It was pretty trippy.

They talked to us twice during that. Answered questions in about as a vague and frustrating manner they could manage.

So they're not ready for people to know more about themselves. Usually, when people are in a position of power, it's hard to get them to stop talking about themselves.

Why so much secrecy?
