I think it's time I retire from teaching for a while.

I don't suppose anyone knows a decent way to pass the time?

[ When Stefan announced the prayer room, a quiet place for meditation, Obi-Wan had been thrilled. While he enjoyed and cared for the Huntress, quiet is not something they are known for. After talking to Anakin, he knew he was in dire need of quiet and inner peace

He does not regret ( he can not regret )

And yet.

In a way he had envisioned as a child, it had always been Master and Padawan, together. Even when separate, they fought together, learned together, believed in each other. But Qui-Gon died all too soon, and for so long, Obi-Wan threw his hands up against tradition. When Yoda told him to be Anakin's master, he chose to be Anakin's friend. He did not caution against attachment, only warned where it might lead.

He breathes heavily, his legs folded on the mat. It's not working. The Force is still too quiet, too alien at this moment. It doesn't understand his sorrow.

Obi-Wan chuckles, opening his eyes and pushing his hair back. It should be used to that by now.

Looking down at his hands, he's quiet when he speaks. ]

Please help me.

So do you follow a certain faith?

Shintoism.

[ she pauses, though, because that might not be recognizable to everyone. stefan had recognized it, but -- ]

It's less... organized, and more... spiritual, and trusting in nature, and spirits, and the balance of both. I'm a priestess.

That sounds pleasing, actually.

[ Obi-Wan would never let go of the Code or the Rules, but he has been known to bend them. Still, he never enjoyed bending them. He was not above the rules. ]

Do you have any duties you must perform?

I take care of everything in the temple, and communicate with the spirits there to ensure that they're happy.

[ it's a simplified explanation, but one that usually makes the most sense to those not accustomed to japan ]

We get a lot of visitors -- some tourists, some people paying respects... so I'm the person that greets them all, and makes sure that they respect the land.

Do you miss it?

[ Jedi do not have attachments. At least, that is their creed. But right now, he misses the temple. He misses Yoda and Mace and their ability to make sense of the chaos.

Right now, he's failing. ]

I do. I miss it a lot.

But I believe in fate -- I'm meant to be here, for some reason or another. Home will be waiting for me when I get out of this place, whenever that will be.

[ Meant to be here? Yes. He can agree with that. ]

Then let's hope it'll happen on your terms.

I admire your confidence. Lately, mine seems to be flagging.

[ and it's not a simple matter of faith. ]

I wouldn't have that confidence if I hadn't succeeded before.

[ simply enough -- and it's true. they broke out of adstringendum. they'll break out of here too. ]

Is that why you're here -- meditating on confidence?

From a certain point of view.

[ He leans back, positioning his arms behind him. ]

I suppose I'm searching for answers. For me, the Force is a guiding light. I tend to let it work through me. But lately, my certainty in many things has been shaken and as such, the Force has been sending mixed messages.

[ Or ignoring him. ]

[ . . . well, that logic sounds slightly familiar. ]

Maybe it isn't ready to show you what you need to hear.

[ her premonitions often work that way. muddy, murky, until she's ready or meant to hear it. ]

Maybe. It would not surprise me. The Force has never been one for clear-cut visions and it moves in mysterious ways.
