[It starts recording without her realizing it. She's exploring her new surroundings cautiously. She places a hand on one of the cots and then pushes it through as if the cot weren't there at all. She removes her arm and both it and the cot are unharmed. Just testing her powers, don't mind her. She got worried when she realized her claws were missing.

Then she gets a better look at her communicator. It's a different model than she's used to.]

Is this another prison?

[It wouldn't be the first time the AIs sent them to a new facility. A space prison is as fitting as anything else, but there's usually some kind of message about it. This feels different.]

Is anyone from the Defense Force around? [Pause.] Or the X-Men. [She couldn't really be home though could she? In space?] Or anyone. Preferably someone with a light. [She can't find her lighter, but she still has a pack of cigarettes on her.]

(OOC: So, the coloring they used in AoA often makes her hair look reddish or blond, but I doubt the post-apocalyptic reality was really where she was going to start dying it. If you have known a Kitty Pryde, please just assume she looks like her—possibly younger or older. Shorter hair though. <3)

Rogue? [Gambit mentioned she was here. She looks different than she expected though. Still decidedly Rogue but maybe a little younger. Definitely different hair and just something in the eyes. It all just boils down to being not her Rogue, but that's not really a surprise anymore.]

That haircut works better for you. [Not that this Rogue knows what it's in comparison to.]

There are a lot of differences to take in, and it's always difficult to see one of your closest friends so entirely different. 'Another prison', check; unknown 'Defense Force' that sounds kind of dire, but then most of these team names tend to; and something about her eyes...]

Is this a first for you? Seeing someone from another reality? Gambit made it sound common. [As if she's completely fine with seeing friends who don't know who she really is all the time. Well, maybe not all the time, but the Logan who barely recognized her definitely hurt. At least this Rogue is expecting a version of her.]

Not hardly. But it's different every time. [She isn't about to say: it's different when it's your best friend because that is all kinds of unfair pressure on whoever this person is with Kitty's face and name and powers.

So. She shakes her head a little and starts in:] Still never know how ta start, 'nice ta meet ya' seems a little understated, but just startin' ta compare an' contrast seems... intrusive.

[She nods.] Mm, less intrusive if I do it? I'm from a world where Apocalypse has control of North America and he's irradiated a lot of what's outside of it and culled most of the cities within it. Mass human genocide and genetic repurposing. X-Men are led by Magneto. You're his wife and I was married to Piotr.

Anything on the same page? [As much as shared experiences are nice, given her story she wouldn't be that sad if the answer was no.]

[Okay, there's a lot there that is very important and totally relevant and she swears she will get to it but--]

Magneto's wife?

[There is suddenly the sound of laughing through her com from another party. No words, just laughter.]

[Oh, bring it.]

Ya got somethin' ta say ta me, Cajun?

Me? Non, non, cherie, nothin' at all. [He still may be laughing as he said those words.]

Well...

[Rogue crosses her arms and taps her fingers against her bicep.

Here that? That's the sound of your doom. Waiting. Waaaaiiiiting.]

Just wonderin' if gotta start averagin' out the age of ya choice of men. [Oh, this was too funny... a little disturbing as well, but too funny.] How old Loki again? That will bump the numbers up a bit.

[Oh, he was hilarious.]

Pretty sure takin' off your shoes won't help with countin' that high.

[Laugh it up, buddy, at least she's gettin' some AS OPPOSED TO.]

[Yeah, you're not getting out of it that easy.] Or should we be lookin' for some of that joint support supplements somewhere on the station here? Would hate for someone to break a hip, would ruin the mood.

[There was still some laughter turning to chuckling over the line, before it eventually trailed off to a happy sigh.

How? [Not even -- the personality thing and the AGE thing but the--] I mean, how am I anyone's wife? I've never heard of any version of me that has -- [control. -- you know what, screw it, she doesn't need to censor herself with Kitty Pryde.] control.

[Kitty's eyes soften at that. She should have scaled back. Not just because she knows Magneto usually plays the bad guys in the stories from other worlds, but because she should have thought about what that could mean for Rogue if there's still no one she can touch safely.] You don't have control. Not exactly. It's something about you both having magnetic abilities that cancels it out. [Probably shouldn't be assuming Rogue absorbed Polaris' powers permanently should she?]

Oh. [Of course.

She doesn't know why that feels like disappointment. She's been working on control, has better control now of the psyches in her mind than she ever dreamed, but she still can't do that most basic of human interaction - touch. She should be happy with the progress she's made. It isn't even her that Kitty is talking about, but somehow, every version of her that she hears of who doesn't have control feels like a door slammed in her face, a punch to the gut.

[But enough about her - no, seriously, enough about that. Even if it will be knocking around like some kind of spiked ping-pong ball, she doesn't need to deal with another self's angst.] Ya married Piotr?

Right. [Absorbed abilities like that would be more likely to change person to person. The only other Rogue she'd met didn't have any at all that were permanent. But Kitty's thinking less of the specifics and just watching Rogue. Feeling tugs of regret already.]

No official ceremony, but it was hard to do anything official-like anymore. [Piotr is kind of a bittersweet topic now, but she is the one who brought him up and she is curious.] Is he on your team?

[Rogue shook her head.] Not when I'm from. I know he's a good guy, but I don't know him well.

[Magneto had him over a barrel, she knew that. She'd also heard from, well, Kitty, that he'd joined them in their last fight against Apocalypse. But she didn't know much more.]

He had his moments.

What about Summers? Evil or good? [As if anything is that clear cut. But she's met both kinds so she's curious.]

Scott? Or Alex? [Or...] Well, either way, they're both on Team 'Let's Not Take Over the World'.

[Because, yeah, Rogue was not really comfortable apply the words 'good' or 'evil' to people. Actions, certainly. But not people.] Yours?

[She was thinking Scott but only because he's the one other people tend to bring up.] They'd be on the other team. They work under Sinister for Apocalypse. [Kitty never really got filled in on Scott helping Jean out.]

[That was...hard to picture.]

Were they mind-whammyed?

[Scott was one of the main reasons why Rogue had even joined the X-Men to begin with - he had such an incredible heart, such deep loyalty... But Magneto had briefly turned both Scott and Alex with his mind-machine and goodness knew Apocalypse could lay down a mind-whammy.]

[She hadn't really thought about it before, but...] It's possible. That happened to Piotr's brother. And there's no shortage of them experimenting on people to increase their powers. [And if they play with bodies, why not minds too?]
