[It starts recording without her realizing it. She's exploring her new surroundings cautiously. She places a hand on one of the cots and then pushes it through as if the cot weren't there at all. She removes her arm and both it and the cot are unharmed. Just testing her powers, don't mind her. She got worried when she realized her claws were missing.

Then she gets a better look at her communicator. It's a different model than she's used to.]

Is this another prison?

[It wouldn't be the first time the AIs sent them to a new facility. A space prison is as fitting as anything else, but there's usually some kind of message about it. This feels different.]

Is anyone from the Defense Force around? [Pause.] Or the X-Men. [She couldn't really be home though could she? In space?] Or anyone. Preferably someone with a light. [She can't find her lighter, but she still has a pack of cigarettes on her.]

(OOC: So, the coloring they used in AoA often makes her hair look reddish or blond, but I doubt the post-apocalyptic reality was really where she was going to start dying it. If you have known a Kitty Pryde, please just assume she looks like her—possibly younger or older. Shorter hair though. <3)

[Kitty tilts her head, thoughtfully.] People die? [You don't see the body count Kitty has without it coming to mind.]

Well it's probably got a twisted sense of humor.

[Chloe actually just sighs and slumps a little.]

Somethin' like that. I...mm.

[chloe manages a thin smile.]

Never mind.

Okay. Up to you. [It's not like the deal was for her lighter and her deepest, darkest secrets.] You're here now. That's what matters.

[Chloe's smile was genuinely grateful.] Thanks.

And yeah I am. And Max is here too. Was planning to find a way to take her on a fancy-ass super roadtrip.

[She knocks on the window.]

I'd say it lets you off the hook and gets you some bonus points. [Also, why is her cigarette done? This is sad.]

[That is a tragedy. Chloe's been getting really good at nursing her cigarettes, so she's got about half left.]

Hopefully. She's been here for like, half a fuckin' year or something. [Chloe was still trying to understand that.] And I haven't seen her yet, since she's out there somewhere...

[She draws in a slow breath.]

But who knows. At least I'm pretty sure she doesn't have a boyfriend yet or somethin', right?

[And...puff puff.]

Oh. [Six months can be a pretty long time especially in a place like this.]

Was she your girlfriend?

No. ...Maybe? Fuck I don't know. There was a kiss. Capital K kiss, even. Except...

[She's pretty sure Max doesn't know about it. Just the little k kiss. The blue haired girl sits up a bit and sighs.]

Man. I don't know. I guess it doesn't matter. I'll just be happy to see her either way.

Jesus, you are. Maybe it's just all this fucking time stuck on this ship mostly alone has me leaking out my feelings like a five year old who scraped her knee.

Downtime can be like that especially if you're not used to it and you have a lot of things to work through that you haven't had time for. [Story of her life at the prison really. She went from watching her students dying and shrugging off condolences to crying over a break up of all things. It's not that it was a greater loss. It's just suddenly she was able to cry for all of it and stopping was kind of hard without a world to get back to saving.]

[The teen just makes an unhappy 'ugh' sound and hangs her her head for a long few moments.]

Well!

[She finally kind of half-exhales the word as she lifts her head.]

Could'a been worse. Could'a accidentally let that shit slip to Max, right?

Yeah, you wouldn't want to get your feelings all over someone you care about. [Little eyebrow raise.]

[Chloe just kind of rolls her eyes and sighs.]

It's not...it's complicated.

It's cool. I get complicated. I'm actually not even sure what the alternative is anymore.

[She just grins.]

Simple would be hella boring anyway, right? Complicated is way more fun.

[Though not in this case, since complicated may mean she just doesn't say anything...]

That's always been my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.

[Smiling back. But wow, she's had some complicated relationships herself.]

[Chloe grins.]

I wish I could use that excuse. I'm like, 90% sure I'm the complicated problem in my relationships.

I think that's the danger of being the only common denominator. On the plus side, everyone might feel that way?

I don't know. I know a couple people who seem crazy happy in their relationships.

Us, huh? [She did implicitly admit to that, didn't she?] I've been crazy happy before. Emphasis might have been on the wrong word though.

[Chloe looks distant, sorting through some feelings, and she finally finishes her cigarette.]

I'm not sure I've ever been crazy happy. I mean like...maybe close? I don't know. I found out some shit that's probably coloring everything from Rachel wrong anyway.

What were you wrong about and what were you right about? [Because the vague makes it hard to keep track.]

[She could almost offer you another cigarette for that one, because she knows feeling like that sucks. She doesn't actually offer the cigarette though. Only five left!]

Second isn't so bad if the first is family.
