[It starts recording without her realizing it. She's exploring her new surroundings cautiously. She places a hand on one of the cots and then pushes it through as if the cot weren't there at all. She removes her arm and both it and the cot are unharmed. Just testing her powers, don't mind her. She got worried when she realized her claws were missing.

Then she gets a better look at her communicator. It's a different model than she's used to.]

Is this another prison?

[It wouldn't be the first time the AIs sent them to a new facility. A space prison is as fitting as anything else, but there's usually some kind of message about it. This feels different.]

Is anyone from the Defense Force around? [Pause.] Or the X-Men. [She couldn't really be home though could she? In space?] Or anyone. Preferably someone with a light. [She can't find her lighter, but she still has a pack of cigarettes on her.]

(OOC: So, the coloring they used in AoA often makes her hair look reddish or blond, but I doubt the post-apocalyptic reality was really where she was going to start dying it. If you have known a Kitty Pryde, please just assume she looks like her—possibly younger or older. Shorter hair though. <3)

[He just nods at the bit about Remy. Rogue seems to trust him as well, and somehow so far he has seemed to be... not as bad as he thought he was. So far.]

Geez, when do you ask about birthday parties? No, there isn't much in the way of threats. I heard that the fleet was hit by some mysterious enemy ships a while back, but I don't know much about that... and it's been pretty much smooth sailing for us for a long time now.

[Enemy ships. Good to know. But his comment does leave her feeling a little embarrassed. She hasn't seen Kurt in a long time. Okay, she hasn't seen this Kurt ever, but all the more reason to get to know him rather than interrogate him.]

You missed my birthday by twenty days. Did you have one coming up? [Not that she doesn't know his birthday, but she's spent the last year or so living without actual dates or calendars. And she knows people get brought in from different times so it's not like actual time matches up well.]

My bad. [He sheepishly shrugs.]

Well, mine's already passed! [At least by the fleet's calendar. Kurt never thought to account for the time difference.] More than two months ago!

That's okay. You can still get me something. [Teasing smile just for you, blue.]

[He tries to tease right back.]

How about some birthday punches?

You can try. [Playful challenging.]

[Kurt will pretend that he's capable of even playfully challenging her.]

Maybe I will! I have to make up for lost time, after all!

You can't even get to this ship can you, teleporter?

...Okay, you got me there. Giant inescapable spaceships are a little out of my range.

Guess we'll have to call a rain check for whenever you get shuffled.

I'm very excited to be treated like a deck of cards.

[He chuckles.]

Then let's hope you bring home the jackpot!

Is your ship supposed to be the jackpot this case?

Wellll, it could be. If a jackpot could have a joker in it!

[She laughs.] You...are nothing like I expected. [Still feels like home somehow. Maybe more like Morph than Kurt.]

[He laughs back, even if he's a little confused. But he manages to voice his uncertainty in a hopeful tone.]

In... a good way?

What do you think? [Smirking.]

You're smiling, so... so I'm guessing it's probably not in a bad way?

Unless it's trap. [A bit more amused looking.] Nah, it's a good thing. [Not that there's anything wrong with her Kurt at least to her way of thinking. She'd be the one feeling out of place around him if he showed up. She knows she's changed in the last year.]

[He teasingly waggles a finger at the mention of a trap.]

Hey, it's too early to catch onto my schemes!

[Then he smiles fondly, and goes on more seriously.]

But... I'm glad to hear that. Here's hoping I don't disappoint? [Then he pauses a little before he goes on.]

It's... it's a good thing for me, too. You don't have to be the same Kitty I know. You're - you're an awesome Kitty on your own. [He still does miss 'his' Kitty dearly. But this one has so much of her personality with her own unique qualities - he definitely can't say he dislikes getting to know her.]

[See, all that right there is why he's so easy to like. It does strange warm things to her heart, but also worries her.]

You barely know me. [She's pretty sure she's going to be the one to disappoint. Normally, she just expects to be disliked and then it's a happy surprise when she isn't, but in this case she already doesn't want to expect that.]

But I am pretty awesome. [Trying to cut back on the seriousness.]

I think I got the basics down at least. [He's trying to prepare himself for any mental curveballs. He doesn't really know what to expect. But he already doesn't feel ready to give up on this Kitty easily, or at all.]

Okay, let's not get too ahead of ourselves, Miss Awesome! We don't want our egos to get too big - the spaceships can only fit so much, you know?

Hey, you started it. I can't help if you know a great thing when you see it. [This is easier than really getting into things. Just playful banter. It never hurt anyone! As long as she remembers not to use last names.]

I do have a good eye for that kind of stuff.

[Playful banter indeed. Even without knowing - and probably denying the possibility of - what exactly Kitty's world is like, it's just more comfortable for him, especially with a version of Kitty.]

I started this awesome praise train. I guess I'd better see it through to its station too!

I won't stop you if you want to say more things about how great I am. Doesn't seem like I have a lot else going on right now.

[You probably don't want to know about her world. Maybe she could tell you about the prison instead. It was a nicer place.]

Yeah, there isn't much at all. While you wait to be shuffled, your first trial is to survive the boredom. I guess my flattery is your only hope! I like what you've been doing with your hair?
