Chocolate-flavored Dessert Cream on the House

[The bunks are filling up, but the new faces just keep appearing!

Are you a travel-weary passenger having trouble keeping your crew roster straight? Perhaps you are a fresh new recruit, finding themselves dumped into a new (and much less shiny) home. Or, maybe you've been around for a little bit and just haven't bothered meeting the other weirdos on this ship yet--what is their problem, anyway?

Well, this is the place for you!

All new passengers from the last few Shuffles, especially those who haven't met their crews yet, are welcome to post starter-comments here to invite those living on and visiting your ship to come and interact. Newbies could be just arriving on the ship, busying around where others can find them, or you can offering multiple options for interaction--however you'd like to set up your thread is fine. Just make sure to include the name of your ship in the header, so your crewmates can easily find you!

Everyone else-- go meet those newbies! Whether they are new to your own crew, or on ships you frequently visit, now is a great time to bump into them.]

[That looks hideously disgusting and therefore amazing.

Katie squints at it from the doorway and then pads across the room to join him at the table.]
Pass me a spoon?

[Nine year old girls fear no horrifying messes. She made these in her kitchen at home all the time. Granted, she never really ate it afterward, but...]

[It is amazing, right?! Kaworu's legitimately proud of it, even as he tweaks the flavor here and there, experimenting with different amounts of different proteins to find more flavors he's never experienced before. In the world he came from, the facilities provided similar substitute proteins — but probably a little worse — though Kaworu chose not to eat them all that often. The alleged hospitality offered to him in Nerv's ragged headquarters was just another piece on the board of a cosmic game of chess. (Kaworu's really bad at chess.) So, since he didn't have to eat, he usually just decided not to.

Not so, here. Stuff is new and exciting, at least in this respect, and he's very happy to share it, too. As requested, Kaworu takes an extra spoon and passes it Katie's way, and he pushes the plate toward her so that she can reach.]

Have as much as you like. [He's never interacted with a child this young. Or is she two children? Kaworu peers at her, smiling but tentative as he seeks some understanding... She feels like Lilin, and then she doesn't. Kaworu knows that sometimes, there are two children in a womb. Is that what's happening with the mix of these souls?

But he doesn't want to be unpleasant. He knows what it's like to be treated as an anomaly. His curiosity, then, stays inside his throat and eyes.]

[She smiles brightly at him and then peers down at the disgusting mass as if trying to work out the most strategic place to take a bite that won't poison her at the same time.

Oh well, YOLO. She closes her eyes and picks a place at random. That way she doesn't have to pretend she can't see the other person in the kitchen for a moment.]
Did you put everything in here? I hope you're not allergic. You're new, aren't you? I'm Dorothy! I'm here to counsel everyone. I'm very good at it--

[She shoves the spoon in her mouth. And hunches a bit because ye gods, that tastes worse than it looks. Awesome.]
paraclete: (do i disappoint you?)

[personal profile] paraclete 2016-02-14 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, Kaworu certainly likes her smile. Her questions are nice, too. Kaworu's never been questioned about so much in such a pleasant way. So he's very patient when he answers: ] I did put everything in. I don't have any allergies. Yeah, I'm new. And it's really nice to meet you, Dorothy. [He hopes he's doing this properly. He's only used to adults and a few teenagers. But he decides that he likes Dorothy very much, that children are very nice. There's a fierce feeling inside of him: he wants her to be well.]

Well? How do you like it?
flickerflash: (do you promise?)

Best thing I've ever tasted. {She says with her mouth still half full, waving the spoon about. Possibly her eyes are watering a little, but she's determined to help him eat this thing.] Is this a family recipe? My mum makes weird things sometimes. Dad calls it her hippy phase.

What's your name? [And finally swallow.] You're really pale. Are you sick? [She does run out of questions eventually, I promise.]

[The best thing she's ever tasted? The best thing? Kaworu looks surprised, like he's wholesome and innocent to little white lies, before he's absolutely beaming. He's got a revised list of his greatest accomplishments, including:

1. Being Shinji Ikari's friend.
2. Making the best thing a young girl as ever tasted.

Honestly, he's so happy.]

I can make you more of it, if you'd like. I figured out how to make it myself; I can also teach you.

[Her questions really don't bother him. He pretty much loves her already, anyway. She's delightful.]

My name is Kaworu. And, I'm not sick. I only look this way because of my genetics.

[Still completely joyful, he sticks another spoonful into his own mouth, and seems to genuinely enjoy it.]
flickerflash: (how about a no)

[personal profile] flickerflash 2016-02-16 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
[He looks so happy Katie determines she's going to suck it up and eat this thing no matter when he makes it for her, and maybe it'll be one of those acquired taste things her mother keeps going on about. Besides, that tiny bit she just had definitely tasted purely like bacon, so it's not all bad. She can play guess-the-protein.]

It's nice to meet you, Kaworu! [Odd name. But not the oddest.] I'm glad you're not sick, then. And you should give it a name, if you made it up yourself! Something that suits it.

[...she wonders if he really does genuinely like it or he just doesn't have anything to compare it to. Maybe he's pale because he was kept in a basement and fed mushrooms a lot, who knows. (She doesn't really understand what genetics means, no.)]
