Are you a travel-weary passenger having trouble keeping your crew roster straight? Perhaps you are a fresh new recruit, finding themselves dumped into a new (and much less shiny) home. Or, maybe you've been around for a little bit and just haven't bothered meeting the other weirdos on this ship yet--what is their problem, anyway?

Well, this is the place for you!

All new passengers from the last few Shuffles, especially those who haven't met their crews yet, are welcome to post starter-comments here to invite those living on and visiting your ship to come and interact. Newbies could be just arriving on the ship, busying around where others can find them, or you can offering multiple options for interaction--however you'd like to set up your thread is fine. Just make sure to include the name of your ship in the header, so your crewmates can easily find you!

Everyone else-- go meet those newbies! Whether they are new to your own crew, or on ships you frequently visit, now is a great time to bump into them.]

[The talking to himself thing is something he's prone to himself, so that bout of rambling goes largely without comment from him, though the details are interesting in their own right, and filed away for later]

It isn't as if we traipse around in complete darkness. There are lamps. And the station has plenty of light - albeit artificial. There's room to breathe.

But I didn't just mean the station. If you are here long enough, we should encounter and actual planet with actual sun soon enough. I can't vouch for the quality of said planet, but it's something...

It's not the same! Even firelight is nicer than this... this...

[ He's not even sure how to describe it, "washed out" isn't really in his vocabulary. Cold, maybe. He associates light - sunlight, candlelight, whatever - with warmth. There's none of that here. ]

Land would be nice. Dirt, and everything.

Well, dirt wouldn't be the first thing I'd expect you to be pining for, but yes.

I wouldn't have thought so either, but all this metal makes me miss the mud.

Well...be careful of what you wish for. [His smile is somewhat rueful. In his experience, good things often came with a price, though the Fleet seemed marginally less punishing in that regard. So far.]

[He's not sure how that's possible, unless the man suffers from a critical lack of imagination. Plausible, given the conversation so far.]

Did you have another career prior to your coronation? Mercernary? Soldier, perhaps?

If you hadn't noticed, I am inquisitive by nature. [He flashes a toothy grin at Alistair - the kind of expression people give when they are completely aware they're being insufferable.]

The follow-up question shouldn't come as a surprise, then, when I ask: what is a Grey Warden?

We kill darkspawn, evil things that come out of the ground.

[ He rattles that off like he's done it about a hundred times by now. ]

...clearly you've never had to teach anything to anyone. I assume darkspawn are some kind of monster?

I did explain. They're evil things that come out of the ground. There's really not much more to tell. They're ugly, and evil, and destory everything they touch.

Good enough reason to fight, I suppose. [Which doesn't really explain much, still, but it's a point he's decided to accede to Alistair]

What I am trying to ask, is have you tried learning anything other than hitting things with sharp sticks?

I do have an education, you know. I can read and write, I know maths and history and geography and theology. Why?

Because you seem rather fixated on the fighting part of your skillset and I was attempting to suggest another one your might pursue while we're here. Something to take your mind off all the metal?

[He could be helpful without being aggravating, but Alistair makes it too easy]

But there...which of those do you enjoy the most? What interests you?

I don't know? I haven't given it much thought.
