[The bunks are filling up, but the new faces just keep appearing!

Are you a travel-weary passenger having trouble keeping your crew roster straight? Perhaps you are a fresh new recruit, finding themselves dumped into a new (and much less shiny) home. Or, maybe you've been around for a little bit and just haven't bothered meeting the other weirdos on this ship yet--what is their problem, anyway?

Well, this is the place for you!

All new passengers from the last few Shuffles, especially those who haven't met their crews yet, are welcome to post starter-comments here to invite those living on and visiting your ship to come and interact. Newbies could be just arriving on the ship, busying around where others can find them, or you can offering multiple options for interaction--however you'd like to set up your thread is fine. Just make sure to include the name of your ship in the header, so your crewmates can easily find you!

Everyone else-- go meet those newbies! Whether they are new to your own crew, or on ships you frequently visit, now is a great time to bump into them.]

[It's noticeable, at least to her, Coil's new looming ways. He's usually more of a lurker type. But she's not going to judge. (Not unless it gets really weird.)]

[She finds herself signing along with her talking. She practices like this, so it's just how it comes out.]

[he appreciates the signing, though he absolutely isn't showing it at the moment. if he didn't need his hands to communicate with, his arms would probably be folded across his chest.

and that question is apparently a vastly open-ended one, as he only responds with the questioning sign for 'about?']

[he forms the sign for 'much,' because... yeah. he has a lot on his mind. but, if she wants to go right for the biggest thing he wants to discuss, that's fine by him.

he spells out C-A-R-G-O.]

[A small, half knowing half wry smile flits across her face at his first answer. She suspects there's always a lot going on in his head. A lot that he can't ever express, more that he wouldn't if he could.

But onto more pressing matters.]

The cargo.

[She's learned the motions to ask for the sign to be shown, if there is one. It helps her to streamline conversations when new words pop up.]

[he relents and shows her the sign before he continues, but it's made up of several 'syllables,' so spelling it was probably quicker.

and with that settled, he signs 'some mine' and 'open.']

[She...doesn't disagree, but she's been weighing this topic a while.]

It could be dangerous. If it was just you and me... but there's a lot of people we're responsible for.

[It's not a no, (and boy does she not have all the signs for that long complex thought) but it's definitely a good place for him to present his point of view at least.]

[first of all, he nods. he knows perfectly well that it's dangerous.

'Atroma is dangerous,' he both agrees and counters.

'not trusting them,' and 'I need to see.']

Well I don't trust them either. The question is will this make it worse or better in the long run?

[So many broken up ideas in her signing. He should take pity on her someday and maybe teach her how to do this better.

She sighs, runs a hand through her hair.]

Tell me the truth, if I say no will you do it anyway?

[as serious and unblinking as he's been since before the meeting even started, this is apparently what gets his expression to lighten.

Sye knows by now that the subtle shift in his face is Coil's equivalent of a smile. and he nods.

[Another sigh, and a quiet chuckle while she shakes her head slightly.]

Yeah, I knew that. Okay, lets go break into a sealed crate and do...whatever it is you plan to do.
