[Aww everyone look at this cute hippie girl with her sweet southern drawl not having a mental breakdown like the last time most of you would have seen her. She's also got a more festive get up on: a shiny gold bodice fits over her flowing black dress, bright purple and green scarves drape around her shoulders, and a jaunty top hat sits on her head. Grinning from ear to ear, she addresses the fleet:]

Hey y'all this is Misty! I don't know how much or what folks here know about Earth holidays and all that, but today's a big one where I come from: Mardi Gras. It's like... this big feast day right before a period of fastin' in preparation for Easter. It won't be the same without the parades and the costumes and the food - ain't got no gumbo in space apparently - but I found this sweet club called that plays some pretty good jazz and I sure would appreciate some company if y'all are interested in a little fun!

[After giving the location of the club and what time she'll meet you there, she picks up a glass full of what looks like beer and tilts it in the direction of her audience.]

Oh yeah? [There was a moment that Remy took to consider what she meant by that, the potions. Could be a version of science, maybe an alchemy, which wouldn't be too great a leap to take with the era some of their ship mates were from. Yet she did seem interested in spirits and asked about magic so maybe this was along another lines.] So ya practice... wicca? [It was a bit of a guess, not going too much on the topic and hopefully wouldn't be insulting if he got the term wrong.]

[She snorts.]

Nah, I'm a real witch.

[Was that so? Well better to try and keep on the good side of this all.] Ah, apologizes chere, can't say I know too much of that to give the proper terms, sorry 'bout that.

In fact, donno too much of it at all, bar movies 'nd tv, which gotta guess that don't even scratch the surface of it all.

Aw, don't worry about it. The rules and names are all so weird anyway, dependin' on what universe you're from. Maybe someplace else those Wicca girls are real witches. Not in my world though. They think they know, but they ain't got a clue about what it's really like.

Yeah, got those as well back home, dependin' on the current trends 'nd the like. Gotta 'ssume there be real witches 'nd... warlocks? [Was that the right title for male practitioners?] Out there. Big 'nough world, 'nd if voodoo works I gotta 'ssume that magic or, [A wave of his hand as Remy tried to think up a better term, but coming up with nothing.] Whatever the correct term be, gotta be real also. Just, haven't run 'cross it m'self it seems.

[She turns her focus on his drink, concentrating real hard. The telekinesis comes easier to her when she's angry or scared, but she is getting better. The glass raises in the air and not even a drop of liquid spills... that is until she gets too excited and drops it too quickly.]

Shit, sorry 'bout that. I'll get you another one.

[Sheepish smile.]

Not my best magic, I admit.

[The sudden collapse of the drink bubble only caused a raised brow from Remy, the events before only a smile rather than any negative reaction, and as the spilled liquid threatened to seep over the edge of the table towards his legs he just brushed a palm over it to push it back away.]

That pretty good chere, 'nd for not bein' ya best ya did have some good form there. It be telekinesis or some other manipulation?

[Oh good, he's not mad. She nods eagerly.]

Yeah, telekinesis! I only just learned I could do it. Ain't many witches around any more and took me a long time before I found anyone like me.

Had a good friend from the last place I was in who was telekinetic, but that more to do with our DNA than 'ny trainin' like ya have. [And it was only fair that he shared since she did, reaching out to touch a finger to his now empty glass and putting a charge through it until it glowed, very careful not to push the charge too far. It was more just to show he had a power, not make it explode.] 'nd it varies from person to person what we can do.

Wow!

[Misty lowers her head to watch the glowing glass more closely.]

That's so cool!

[She looks back up at him and grins.]

I can't believe my luck, meetin' a Louisiana boy and he's got powers to boot! What else can you do?

[Drawing the charge back into him and leaving the glass to stay where it sat on the table, not picking it up just yet from how hot the charge had made it, Remy shot a smile over at Misty.] Ah, Lady Luck works in wonderful 'nd mysterious ways, 'nd she's always been rather kind to me.

M' powers ain't just a light show, stuff I touch explodes when I put that energy 'nto it. From my world 'm known as a mutant, we all get our own powers 'nd can range from telekinetics like ya, to mind readin', fire control, shape shiftin', lot of things.

Oh! You must be from Kitty's world then! She said she was a mutant too!

Not quite. There is a Kitty Pryde from the world 'm from, but the one we got here be from an different but kinda the same universe to mine. It's... well above m' level of understandin', I just go along with it. [Remy added a shrug to the end of that.]

Yeah, I don't understand all that stuff either. [She returns his shrug with one of her own.] But that's the way it is, right? Even if we don't get it.

So it seems, kinda get past the point of wonderin' 'nd just goin' with it. Easier that way, less worry 'bout all this merde goin' on 'round us. 'nd really, 've been in worse places than this all, it ain't half bad. Certainly meetin' 'nterestin' people. [Remy shot a smile in her direction as he said that.]

[She smiles back, blushing just a little. Is he flirting? Maybe? She's not very good at this kind of thing.]

That's for sure. And no one 'round here seems to be scared of my powers or want them for anything.

[Maybe, it all depended on how she reacted and Remy was happy to let this all play out either way, either as a friendly meet up to celebrate a much special day, or as something more.] Yeah, found that m'self. It's nice not to have to face the kind of fear 'nd anger 'nd hate my kind can get back home. Then again, so many worlds, so many options, never know what others call normal.

Still trying to get used to it, if I'm being honest.

[Which. When does Misty ever lie? She ain't very good at it even when she tries.]

I was scared shitless when I first showed up.

[Remy cast a sympathetic smile in Misty's direction as she admitted to that.] I think for the most we in pretty good company, hell, ya might even run 'cross 'nother magic user like yaself 'long the way to train with if ya wanna. 'nd if ya do find people givin' ya trouble I know a few who be more than happy to have ya back if ya need it, people who know what it's like to be in the place of bein' judged on powers.

Ain't alone in this cherie, even if I don't fully understand how ya side of it works.

[You ain't alone. That's something she's been wanting to hear her whole life... only to find it in space. This is what the Coven should have been but never was. Not for her anyway.]

You have no idea how grateful I am to you for that.

[Remy's expression softened at that confession, it all too easy to remember what it had felt like to be alone.] Maybe not completely, but I know what it was like for me, [He reached over the table to take one of her hands and giving it a light squeeze.] But also know that once ya find a place ya belong all that stuff in the past suddenly ain't 'mportant.

It does still hurt now 'nd then, but it more a nightmare or an echo, ain't the real thing.

[She returns the squeeze and smiles a little sadly.]

I hope to God you're right about that. For me.

Me too chere, me too. Ya know, if ya ever get stuck 'nd I ain't 'round, look up a fille by the name of Rogue, can't miss her, bright white streak at the front of her hair, always wearin' gloves. She'll have ya back if ya need her, though bein' a friend of mine might count against ya. [Remy grinned and shot her a wink to show he was joking about that last part.]

Oh yeah! She paid for my drink!

[That so? Shame that she chickened out on showing up for this herself, but Remy understood why. Rogue did not do crowds, for obvious reasons.] Yeah, she good people.

Ya know, she brought me m' first drink when I first got to the previous place we got stuck together in.
