[Aww everyone look at this cute hippie girl with her sweet southern drawl not having a mental breakdown like the last time most of you would have seen her. She's also got a more festive get up on: a shiny gold bodice fits over her flowing black dress, bright purple and green scarves drape around her shoulders, and a jaunty top hat sits on her head. Grinning from ear to ear, she addresses the fleet:]

Hey y'all this is Misty! I don't know how much or what folks here know about Earth holidays and all that, but today's a big one where I come from: Mardi Gras. It's like... this big feast day right before a period of fastin' in preparation for Easter. It won't be the same without the parades and the costumes and the food - ain't got no gumbo in space apparently - but I found this sweet club called that plays some pretty good jazz and I sure would appreciate some company if y'all are interested in a little fun!

[After giving the location of the club and what time she'll meet you there, she picks up a glass full of what looks like beer and tilts it in the direction of her audience.]

[By the time the video comes through, Misty’s already at the club, an electro-jazz fusion band playing in the background. A short green alien pokes their head into the corner of the screen, trying to see who their new friend is talking to. Misty laughs.]

Real friendly! These people sure know how to have fun ‘round here! Care to join us?

[A wry twist of her lips.] Doesn't really make it anymore my scene. But don't let that stop ya, go have a drink on me.

[Misty laughs.] No, I don't need a ball or nothin'. It's just part of how my magic works.

[Now those two words caught his attention, more so because Remy was shocked he had completely forgotten about his favorite holiday this year, so it was very nice to hear another prompting his memory about it.]

Cherie, ya just said some magical words there, [He drawled out, letting his accent play up a bit more for dramatic effect.] 'nd created a little bit of an ache in this boy's heart that he dare forget 'bout such an 'mportant day, 'nd the fact we be so far away to celebrate it. Clearly, we gotta do it justice somehow despite not being in the heart of the Big Easy.

[Oh my, how Misty lights up at the sight and sound of another Louisianan. Much as she fears going back, and as much as she believes in this second chance she’s been given, there’s always going to be a part of her that misses the swamps and the gators and the food and the music and even the heat, as damp and oppressive as it may be.

And cherie! These Cajun boys always do know how to sweet talk a girl. She smiles broadly at him.]

I haven't heard of any. Don't think they got that way out here. But Stefan's got a ... what did he call it... interfaith! He's got an interfaith space on the Iskaulit. It's real nice. I mean, I know it ain't the same without a priest and all, but we could probably still do something with it.

The Iskaulit is one of the ships in the Fleet?

[He's guessing, since he hasn't heard it mentioned yet.]

Priests are good facilitators, but I think it's your intentions that matter the most.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with jazz. What sort of music is it?

Why, it's some of the best music in the world! [Next to Fleetwood Mac, of course.] It originated right in New Orleans, where I'm from. It's got horns like trombones and saxes and the piano and singin' and it's usually real good to dance to.

I'm not much of a dancer. [Even before she was ill. Though Kagehisa would describe her as one. She pauses.]

But perhaps I'll come and listen to the music. [Let's celebrate this suddenly being healthy thing.]

I'll have to pass on your offer, but I'll see what I can do about Ash Wednesday. [pause] Um, except for the wine. I can't actually touch that, so you or someone else'll have to bring it over.

Oh, we never used wine in my church anyway. It was always grape juice. [Little frown.] I don't know how other people feel about that though. Do you think it'd be... insultin' or something if we didn't use wine?

I'm not sure. [shrug] I wouldn't lead the service, since I'm way too Muslim for that kind of thing.

That would depend on whoever would bless the bread and wine - or juice, in this case.
