So. I've heard it's February 14th. And how good of the Atroma to get me my very own monogrammed ship. Apparently it's the perfect gift for the girl who so recently had everything. [ tacky, much? kate kinda cringes every time she sees her family name on her assigned ship -- regardless of how coincidental it might be. ] Kate Bishop, reporting for duty aboard the SS Bishop. I kid you not.

[ haha, tres funny. ]

Can we change? Ships, I mean. Not that this one isn't lovely, sure. But I'm getting flashbacks to summer camp at Interlochen and my mother writing my name on all my shirt tags.

[ except she can't say for certain what's happened to the other woman recently. just -- the way you sorta know a good baseball player's name, and their team, without knowing much else. ]

I don't know what M-Day is, but then I've never lived in a world where Apocalypse left so he could show up again either. [Okay, she has, but only in the sense that it was before she was born and the guy is kind of immortal.]

Who are you? I mean other than Kate Bishop. [Because the name means nothing to her.]

[ it's safe to tell kitty, right? not that kate's ever been all that thrifty with her identity. ]

Hawkeye. [ she lifts her chin. proud. ] Ringing any bells?

[There's a pause as she considers the name. It doesn't exactly ring a bell but it might brush past one? A name on an intelligence report for an area she wasn't covering. How likely was she to remember he was a pilot for the Human High Council? Especially when she's trying to place it with a woman. Not likely enough.]

I don't think so. Do you know Namorita? She recognized me too.

[ wow. things must be really different, then. because she'd always considered clint's codename to carry some weight with it. and then there's the question of...namorita? oh, the name is familiar enough. kate had watched the same news footage as everyone else. right before the war started... ]

Not really. Not personally. [ namorita is a distant figure. another young hero, but not part of kate's team. instead: ] I'm an Avenger. Sorta.

[ kinda. ]

Like Vision. He's on my ship. [She likes him. His name starts with "the".]

The Vision's here? [ a little too hopeful. ]

Yes, he said most of the Avengers are. He only listed two as missing. [Neither of those two was Kate Bishop, sorry.] The one with wings, and I'd probably remember the other guy if I heard his name again.

[ -- well, that's news. kate takes a moment to digest. ]

That'd be a long list of Avengers present if only two were missing. [ unless the vision meant only current avengers, in which case... ] Did he say anything about the Young Avengers?

[She shrugs.] I wouldn't know. [She'd never heard of the Avengers. At least she thought she hadn't, but when Kate mentions the Young Avengers it does remind her of something she heard once at the prison.]

Wait, the Young Avengers? Were there mutants on the team?

Sure are. Three, actually.

Wiccan, Speed, and Prodigy.

[ you'll forgive her for not saying their name-names. it's the atroma she doesn't trust; not you. ]

Billy and Tommy, right? [Sorry, she's much less fussed about the secret identity thing. There was much eye rolling at Parker as he tried to keep it up at the prison. But based on their powers that sounds right and maybe they gave those names too. Prodigy isn't ringing any bells.]

I met them at the prison briefly. Billy was...enthusiastic. [She had a fanboy.]

[ concern springs fresh in her voice -- strained, and just a little unhappy. ] Yeah. They're brothers -- and my teammates. [ she swallows. ]

What prison?

It's a place like this one. Some kind of multidimensional abduction center. It seems like lots of people here have been in more than one. That one was a small town with a dome over it surrounded by water. It called itself a prison. Listed crimes. Good times.

Sure, Tommy's had a tough time of it. [ oh, it's kinda weird. talking about him. ] But what's Billy ever done to deserve any kind of sentence?

[ ooor maybe she doesn't want to know the answer to that. after all, there was the whole mess where they teamed up with magneto. ]

I didn't ask to review their crimes, but trust me, that place wasn't merit-based. [Even if she can't argue with her own list there were kids in there occasionally and people who were more innocent than she knew what to do with.]

And I was too busy being surprised over who they were related to.

[ -- the scarlet witch. kate nods. ]

Trust me. That one threw a lot of us for a buncha loops.

Yeah, our worlds didn't match up that well. They couldn't have been born there.

Different worlds. Alternate dimensions. Kinda like how 'Hawkeye' wasn't something you recognized.

Mmhm. One I share with Clint Barton. Who, idiocy aside, is something of a legacy in his own right. Kinda weird that you'd know the Scarlet Witch but not him.

[ after all, they'd been part of cap's kooky quartet together. back in the day. ]

Maybe he didn't survive to pick up the name. All the large cities were culled. And I never actually met Wanda, but she was the boss' daughter, so kind of hard not to know about her. [Enjoy that past tense and the inference of who her boss is.]
