[Bigby shrugs and settles down more in his pillows.]

Compared to most things. Snow reckons I'm probably at least a thousand years old.

...You don't know? [ That Sascha's particularly interested in. ]

[bb_wolf]

No. Wolves don't give a fuck about how many years pass. I have no idea how old I am. I can just try and work it out based on how old other Fables are. I'm one of the oldest. We know that.

[Not necessarily the oldest. But quite possibly.]

So...you were a wolf first, then a Fable? [ Is that how that worked? Fables were made? Or were they born? He's honestly not sure how much they differ from himself, but the distinction is obvious compared to a human. Humans don't turn into giant, furry wolves. ]

[bb_wolf]

Fables are just everyone from the Homelands. All the intelligent ones, anyway. I'm a wolf Fable. My mother was a wolf. My six brothers are all wolves, though I'm by far the biggest of them. I worked hard to get that big.

[pneumo]

Is the Homelands someplace all Fables come from...? [ Like a country? ]

[bb_wolf]

Yeah. It's our world. Worlds. There's lots of lands in the Homelands. Different places. Islands. Countries. Kingdoms. Forests. Jungles.

I came from a forest. It was always dark, shadowed, full of animals.

[pneumo]

I came from a forest too. The trees were so thick, that even when it was day out the ground was still okay for me to walk around on.

[bb_wolf]

And the roots made snares that tried to catch your paws- feet. Sounds like my home.

[pneumo]

Yeah! Except, I don't think we have giant wolves back home. [ But it'd be nice to think they did, certainly. ]

There was a really nice village near where I woke up that took me in.

[bb_wolf]

Ain't no other wolf-

There isn't any other wolf like me.

[He is not New Yorker, he will not speak like one.]

I lived for a while near a village. There was this old biddy lived on the outskirts I'd been sizing up for my first human meal.

[pneumo]

You eat humans?? [ GASP. Bigby. ]

[bb_wolf]

Not any more...

[Don't give him that look.]

... it's not like I ate other wolves.

[pneumo]

[ It's a little silly, because technically Sascha would do that--and then more. ]

What about wild animals and stuff though?

[bb_wolf]

[Bigby stands up slowly, stretches and starts shrugging off his shirt, tucking it into a hanging bag high up on the wall.]

Yeah. I started small, worked my way up. Lived exclusive on humans for a long time, until the Adversary's soldiers started turning up.

[pneumo]

Who's that? [ Sounds not...like someone you'd really want to run into all that much honestly. Living on humans exclusively is technically what he's "supposed to do as a vampire" once he's finished being a Newborn, but that's sort of an iffy thing at the moment. And always has been.

He'll keep watching Bigby though, curious. ]

Dunno. Just what we call him. He came out of the East. Took the lands of the mount gods, then the Green and Glittering lands. Kept marching forwards. His troops taste bad. Contaminated.

[Bigby keeps stripping. Pants come off and go into the bag.]

Get in the corner. I need space.

[pneumo]

Huh? Ohhh! Gotcha. [ Sascha stands and will quickly move over to the far corner as best he can, flattening in between the two walls. ]

I've never tasted anyone who had a bad flavour before. What was it like?

[Bigby screws up his face at the memory of it. Sickness. Sour and putrid across his tongue.

He shakes himself and shifts back out. It's a smooth and easy transformation for him, though he's forced to curl as he changes, to fit in the room.

He finishes his shift with his nose tucked near the ladder leading out.]

Like rot. Putrescence. You can climb over me to get in the middle.

[pneumo]

Okay~ [ Sascha will more than happily move to do that, crawling his way up the wolf's flank in order to at least perch himself on his back for a moment, happily surveying the room from that height. ]

Sounds gross though. Lucky they're not here!

[bb_wolf]

[The bags are clearly hung high enough to be out of his way in this form.]

I took delight in hunting them. Chasing them. Making them fear the big, bad wolf until the merest whisper of a howl sent them fleeing and flinching at shadows.

They took my forest, but I made them pay dearly for it.

[pneumo]

...I'm sorry about your forest. [ Sascha slips down Bibgy's other side so he's properly in the middle, though his hands remain up and rested against the wolf's side as he gives him a very slow pet. He's only ever know one home, and for a very short period of time before it was no longer a place he could stay because of what he was.

He's not sure if he misses it, but he'd been happy there. It's probably much worse for Bigby. ]

[bb_wolf]

[Big resents it, even now. They forced him from his forest, because however many he killed and drove off, there were always more and he couldn't outnumber an army on his own.]

It was a long time ago. Centuries. But I still miss it. We'll take it back one day.

[pneumo]

After you finish here?

[ He'll leave, and then Sascha will have to find someone else to sleep atop once he's gone. ]

[Big shrugs.]

Thing about being immortal? You don't have to rush to do things. We're preparing, slowly.
