[Luke Skywalker is sitting pensively in front of one of the wide windows on the Marsiva's Hospitality Deck. Rather than staring out into the darkness of space, he's bent over a tiny silver disk in his hands. It's open, revealing a series of wires, something mechanical and complex. Lacking any proper tools of his own, Luke is replying it with careful fingers and, occasionally, teeth.]

[Lacking any proper supplies, he's forced to improvise. At one point, he removes the glove on his right hand. There's a burn over the back, but the flesh cracks open to reveal more wires and mechanistry. Luke pulls some wires out, breaks them and inserts them into the disk. It seems to cause some of the fingers on his hand to twitch irregularly, but the disk is repaired. He presses a button, and a little blue holograph of a smiling couple appears.]

[He stares at it for a little while.]

[Finally, Luke notices that he's being recorded.] Hello, there. How long have you been on, hm? [He reaches over and turns off the feed.]

[Actually wait. A second later, Luke turns the feed back on.] I suppose if all of this is being recorded, I ought to introduce myself. I'm Luke Skywalker. It's a pleasure to meet you. [His smile kind of... twitches.] All of you.

Reality's even bigger than the universe; that sort of thing seems like it would be impossible to measure. [Hm.] And you're sure she wasn't some kind of... clone? [Use the Force, Luuke.]

Clone huh? [She looks amused. It's not an impossible thought, but not top-of-mind for her.] I'm sure. I did think shapeshifter first, but there are people here from the same sort of world she described. [Not that her own doubts hadn't been relaxed long before that.]

Oh, really? Did she know the secret handshake? [Luke lifts his hand to pantomime shaking someone else's, but it's that moment that the loose wires hanging out the back begin to spark, and his hand twitches with a faintly robotic rhythm. He frowns and begins poking at the circuitry.] It's an interesting thought, of course; it just seems so unlikely.

[She starts to laugh but the sparking distracts her.] Unlikely things can still be real. Like someone using their own hand for spare parts.

[He grins a little sheepishly.] Well, I thought, uh, I might do some repairs, and... [He shrugs, awkward.] There isn't a lot to do up here but read through the holone- network.

I swear I already put this tag through but then nothing, so if it shows up twice that's why!

There won't be a lot to do even after you leave there.

[Though she hasn't really been bored yet. Meeting people and learning about them is enough for her for awhile. But she's wired for action and that's hard to break.]

The disk must be pretty important. [Asking but not asking.]

Oh, don't say that. [He smiles weakly. This boy clearly hates being bored.]

[His smile only grows weaker at the mention of the disk.] It's... I think it's the only one of its kind, that's all.

It's good you had it with you then. [She won't pry further.] And that it wasn't a weapon. [Since those get taken away.]

HAHA im flattered.

[He huffs a little.] My weapon was also the only one of its kind. Hand-made, completely unique... I'd rather have this, though. [It's a close thing, but not as close as one might think from his wistful description of his lost saber.]

Mine too. All I got to keep was half a pack of cigarettes. [She didn't even have her lighter on her.] What was your weapon?

Oh, um, [almost awkwardly (why should she believe him?),] a lightsaber?

[She can't say she's heard of that before.] A kind of sword? [That glows in the dark?]

[t65]

[Oh, goodness.] A sword, yes. Some people call them 'laser-swords'. The blade is pure light.

[passingthrough]

[So she's not technically wrong...] Hmm, do you fight with sunglasses on?

[t65]

[He laughs, surprised.] No, they're not that bright. They're still very dangerous, of course; only Jedi can wield them safely. [Somewhat safely, cf. right hand.]

I guess that would make you a Jedi? The not selfish, not dark-side kind? [She's had a conversation about it.]

[t65]

You've heard of the dark side? [But not lightsabers?]

[passingthrough]

[You know how conversations wander.] Ahsoka mentioned it. It's not really a thing where I'm from. Although selfishness and dark deeds are.

[t65]

There's darkness everywhere. The Force just means we're at a greater risk of it overtaking us. That's what being a Jedi means, accepting that risk.

Hm, I'll have to take your word on that. It's new to me. It's just bad choices and sometimes bad options as far as I know.

Why accept the risk?

[t65]

For the chance of doing some good.

[He says it calmly and earnestly, without any hint of irony.]

[As far as reasons go, it's a pretty good one.] Have you?

[t65]

[He considers it.] I hope so.

[passingthrough]

You have some good answers, Luke Skywalker the Jedi. [There's something calm about him she likes.]

Just 'Luke' is fine. [He chuckles.] I'm glad I passed, and I didn't even know there was a test!
