Ah, hello! I'm sorry if I'm interrupting anything; please, don't mind me if I'm troubling you!

[Koala's familiar, unnatural smile has appeared! She seems to be in her black jumpsuit and white tank -- though she's taken to Han Solo's advice and bought a blue dress for herself, which appears to be hanging up in her closet next to her yellow dress. And it appears there is a clown-fish shaped child's mug on her dresser, and a strangely ice-sculpted flower in a pot behind her (thanks, phantom person). It's not much, but it's still a far cry from her plain room from her first few weeks. And not only that, but a new revelation! She has a pillow with a cat on the pillowcase! GRANTED IT'S A VERY ODD CHOICE FOR AN ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD... but hey, progress!

Still clean as hell, though. She's clearly just gotten finished with her chores, wiping her bangs out of her face. They've been growing out a little, getting in her eyes.]

I - I wasn't sure if I should say, before, but... That is, I wasn't sure if I would be punished for it, when I arrived here! But now I am trying to listen to Mr. Zuko and the others, and... and try not to think like a slave! So I will not stay quiet when I have questions! Forgive me if that is very straightforward of me.

I was wondering, um. If you have a burn, and it is not... If it's healed, but it itches badly sometimes, what... should you do?

S--sometimes it is when I am working, but it can also be when I sleep; some nights it itches so fiercely, I have trouble falling asleep!

The first time it happened, I was not allowed to say anything, but... But now, I think I can.

... I'm allowed to, right?

It's okay to ask for help for such a thing, right?

[ He arrives promptly, cool and collected. He certainly doesn't seem fussed and he believes Koala wouldn't hide it if the injury was too awful. ]

Let's take a look at it, shall we?

[She gives a nod. And then (sorry this is probably confounding for a moment, Obi-Wan), she pulls her white tanktop over her head enough that he can see her bare back; the old burn is in the shape of a sun, a clear outline of from a branding poker of sorts. It's large enough to cover her back from one side to the other. The scar tissue itself is horribly thick, mostly healed but still pink and fresh, merely a few months old.]

It — it used to be a different symbol! But then it was burned over again.

Do you think it'll be okay? Everyone said that it's a good thing, that it itches sometimes. Because that means it's healing, right?

[ He grimaces, thankful that she can't see him. Why put a tattoo on top of an old one? . . . He'll ask her later. ]

I think it should be. I'll need to put my hand on top of it. Is that all right?

[ The Force works through palm reading. ]

[She considers it for a moment. A hand touching the brand... it won't hurt, would it? Even if it did, she can't bring herself to even ask. She won't show him any weakness; she can't do such a terrible thing! Instead she nods, sure of herself.

Hopefully he can help with the itch.]

How does it work, Mr. Obi-Wan?

It lets me know what state the wound is in. With that knowledge, I can most likely numb it and prescribe the next course of action.

It won't hurt, Koala. Most likely, you won't feel a thing.

I understand, Mr. Obi-Wan, sir. Go ahead. I won't complain, even if it did hurt!

[She leans her head forward; she's more obviously scrawny from her years eating poorly, the buttons of her spine a bit more pronounced and her limbs thinner and knobby. Something for her to grow into, partly. Something for her to gain a little weight for, on the other hand.

The sun-shaped brand is warm to touch, thickly scarred.]

When I touch it, I can barely feel my hand...! Isn't that so strange?

Not at all.

[ He places his hand gently on top of the brand. The Force speaks to him, quiet murmurs under his skin. It was merely healing, a brand on top of another one. It speaks of a certain attachment . . . or point that they were trying to make.

It was also certainly beyond his abilities to fix. But he does spread a numbing sensation through the back, just enough so that the wound will not itch.

Satisfied, he pulls his hand away. ]

It should not bother you for a while. Though I would suggest stocking up on some cream in case it goes.

[She sighs in clear relief. Whatever help Obi-Wan provided, it was clearly of help — she looks over with a small smile, pulling her jumper back up and putting her hands on the ankles of her crossed legs.]

Thank you, Mr. Obi-Wan! I most definitely will!

Do you help people with injuries very often?

Sometimes. It's not my area of expertise, but I do know some of the basics. Things like headaches, concussions and other minor wounds, I can heal.

[ A necessary skill, when you're Reckless Obi-Wan and Anakin. ]

[She laughs, actually, apparently humored.]

Then you must have to heal a lot of your own headaches in this ship!

[ His lips curve into a smile. ]

No more than usual.

Then I pledge to try and not add to your normal amount of headaches!

That's very kind of you, Koala. But I can assure you, you don't give me any headaches.

[She shouldn't be surprised, what with how often she tries to stay out of the way.

But then, some people seem to get frustrated with her... She's never been sure about Obi-Wan! Perhaps because he seems to have himself together better than most...?]

[ Anakin gives him far more headaches than Koala does. ]

Sometimes, we're both unsure of each other, but I've never felt angry or annoyed.

[She squares her shoulders, shrinking a bit, though she's got a small smile.]

I... I guess so...

I feel very unsure about a lot of things. Sometimes I worry I'll never be sure.

It will take time to get used to things, I imagine. Worrying about it won't help much. Besides, you've come quite far already, haven't you?

[... Ah...]

Do you really think so?

I do.

[ And Obi-Wan wouldn't simply say it for the sake of reassuring her. He may be the master of half-truths and hyperbole, but he's not a liar. He delivers it as a simple statement. ]

And I'm sure you'll go further still.

... I hope I'll go further, too...

[She glances over, smiling.]

I want to make everyone proud of me! I know I can be very... strange. And very hard to understand, sometimes! So I would like to be more like — um. More like everyone else. Understanding how things should be.

[ More like everyone else. Obi-Wan has never considered himself as normal, but in light of that, perhaps he was.

But he was a slave once too. ]

I don't think you're strange.

[ His voice has gone soft. Anakin was a precocious child so sometimes it was easy to forget. But Obi-Wan hasn't forgotten the rare times he raised his voice, or when they struggled with each other. Orders and commands, respect and discipline . . . difficult topics to broach.

For a while, Obi-Wan thought they would never improve - that he and Anakin would never speak the same language.

They did. To some extent. ]

I do not. But mostly because I have some . . . experience in that area.
