[Guess who just shows up to breakfast one... afternoon? Loki emerges from his office, looking for all the world like a man who has just woken up from an extended nap, barely open eyes, trying to stretch his back and shoulders, the whole nine. He wanders into the kitchen, fumbles around until he makes himself something hot and dark enough that he can pretend it's coffee, and stares suspiciously into the cup before drinking.

Ugh, his mouth tastes like someone glued one of Thor's feet to it. Ugh. What possessed him to sleep like this...

(Guess who has no idea he's been missing for weeks~)]

[A bit later: Broadcast]

[Awake now, and... well, he looks amused. Which is to say as if he's planning on flaying someone alive.]

Why yes, I have returned. Hide all of the party favors, lock up your sons and daughters, cancel the pedestrian fireworks displays.

A funny thing, missing time. You'd never know it was gone until someone tells you. Has anyone else fallen victim to such thievery?

Oh. [Sounding very much like she recognizes the name now, but strangely not with the judgement that should probably follow.]

Kitty. Rogue's friend. Hi.

[He definitely catches that tone. And he does remember someone named Kitty in Luceti, though he has a feeling this isn't the same one.]

Ah. I am always pleased to meet a friend of Rogue's.

[So far she doesn't seem to be in the Tony Stark camp of wanting to make his life miserable, so that's promising.]

I trust she has been well, whilst I've been gone?

Well, she's Rogue, so she's pretty tough. Of course, she's not exactly the version I knew back home. [But friend still felt applicable even if it's new with a dash of old.]

The strongest lady I've yet known. [Well, other than Sif, perhaps. But Rogue is his and Sif is not, so obviously Rogue must be superior.]

Ah, so you are not of her reality. How different is yours, I wonder.

Can't argue with you there. [Not that she'd really rank Rogue, Storm, and Jean against each other not to mention any of the other X-Ladies herself included. It's enough to know Rogue is strong in her world or any other.]

Noticeably different. [Rogue is married for one.] Not a good place to vacation. [Or live.]

Ah. That must be a bit awkward.

Hers hasn't sounded to be without its troubles, but that does sound grim indeed.

If there's a world without troubles I'd love to hear about it. But it would probably be safer to stay away. [Because she's sure she'd end up taking some with her.]

Troubles are such a relative thing. Much the same as time.

I tend to think safety overrated.

Time is relative? [It sounds like she's about to argue the point, but she thinks of people like Jack and some of the vampires she's known and, well, maybe it is relative considering people experience it differently.] Okay, maybe it is.

An afternoon in pleasant company is the blink of an eye. A few minutes of boredom is an eternity.

[Grin.] And some of us are rather long-lived.

Right, because it becomes an eternity. It's like it all ties back together. [He gets a little smile.]

So, should I assume my friend is dating an old guy? [Considering her world's Rogue was married to Magneto she doesn't actually see that as a problem if he is of the long-lived variety.]

Utterly decrepit. [Laugh. This is familiar ground.]

Please, Kitty. I am but a few years of one thousand. Quite young among the Aesir, when one isn't long in the tooth until the fifth millennium rolls around.

And I thought I was the one with a thing for older guys. [Ten years sounds like nothing now.] Any other surprises you want to give away?

Never. I hate to waste a good surprise. You?

[That gets a soft laugh.] Something to look forward to I guess. Probably shouldn't be giving all mine away for free, but I can tell you I met a kid Loki once.

As have I. It seems the brat gets around.

He is not my larval form. We're two entirely different Lokis.

[Smiling.] That doesn't surprise me. [Is she even capable of surprise with these things anymore?] There was another me at the prison. Actually, I'm pretty sure that me was Rogue's actual Kitty. Guess the Atroma grabbed the wrong one.

I find it fascinating, how they are able to pull from such a myriad of parallel universes. I should like to tear the maths behind that apart.

Yeah? You're a big fan of algorithms? [It piques her curiosity a bit. She can be a little nerdy for knowledge.]

Maths are the language of reality. The fundamental particle of all magics.

You had me at math and lost me at magic. [Not that she doesn't believe magic exists. She's known witches and seen it in action.]

Magic is its own science. [Shrug.]

That's an interesting way to put it. [As in you have her attention.] What kind of magic do you do?

Several sorts.

My favorite is the manipulation of light, however.
