I don't think I'll be that humiliated, but I appreciate your concern. [There's that sunshiny smile again.] Is there anything else you need, or should I start telling people about the vote?

[pyroelectric]

... Yes. One last thing.

Obviously I didn't call you up here just to engage in meaningless chit-chat. If this vessel is to run smoothly, I need to know everything about the capabilities of my staff.

[Strengths... and weaknesses.]

Alright. I served in the Rebel Alliance and eventually formed and commanded Rogue Squadron. I am a Jedi Knight. [And then his voice gets a bit... cheeky.] What else do you need to know?

[pyroelectric]

I see. So you have some combat experience after all.

What does being a "Jedi" knight entail?

[t65]

A little. [#humblebrag]

[He considers this question, and for once decides not to show off.] That's a little hard to explain, Azula, but I'll try. Do you believe in fate?

[pyroelectric]

No.

[Well, that was simple.]

But you're welcome to convince me. [She waves a hand.] Go on.

[t65]

[Luke nods, and opens his hands. One is still gloved; he hasn't had time to repair it. At least it's stopped twitching, though it's lost most of its feeling at this point. He'll fix it on this station he keeps hearing about. Anyway-]

A Jedi is someone who's been trained in the way of the Force. The Force is the living energy of all things, and the easiest metaphor I've found for it is... it's a little bit like fate. Jedi master themselves, and in doing so, gain a better understanding of the Force and its place in the world around them.

[And then he returns to his straight-backed posture from before.]

But that won't mean much if you don't believe in the Force, and I don't want to waste your time.

[pyroelectric]

[Ugh, sounds like Air Nomad stuff.]

Thrilling. [Haha, no. She isn't interested in your mystical mumbo jumbo, Luke.]

Do you actually do anything, aside from contemplate your place in the universe?

[Luke takes a moment to wonder if showing off is really worth it. This girl doesn't seem like she'll be impressed by much anything, and really, should a Jedi Knight be trying to impress little girls?]

[On the other hand, he's a Skywalker.]

[Luke holds out his hand, and the chair nearest to him twists to face him, moving a few inches toward him so he can sit quietly down.] We do many things. It depends on what the Force calls us to do.

[pyroelectric]

[Now that catches her interest.]

... I see. What you did, just now-- it wasn't airbending. The movement was all wrong. How did you do it?

[t65]

I told you, Azula.

[Time to pull a classic Yoda.]

[Far from being deterred-- Azula loves a challenge as much as she hates looking stupid.]

This "energy of the universe." Right.

But surely chair has no energy. Are you saying you manipulate then the energy around the chair?

[t65]

[And that, certainly, gets Luke's interest. Good students make good teachers.]

In a sense. The chair is also made of things that were once alive. And I'm alive. Particles in the air teem with life. You're alive.

[pyroelectric]

Well of course I'm alive.

... Are you saying you could move me?

[t65]

Of course. [Like it's nothing.] But I won't, don't worry.

[pyroelectric]

... I'm not sure I believe you.

[t65]

... That I can move you, or that I won't?

[pyroelectric]

That you can actually move me.

[t65]

[Luke sighs, and closes his eyes. He relaxes in his chair and slowly begins to raise his hands. Azula should raise with them, only a few inches off her seat, if the Force is with him today.]

[pyroelectric]

[Azula tries not to let her surprise show on her face, but it's still present in the Force. Even taken by surprise and floating in the air as she is, a part of her mind is still analyzing.]

... Impressive. You have to concentrate to be able to do this? Are there limits on how much you can lift?

[t65]

[Luke lets her down very gently.]

I think I'll have to maintain some mystery. [Also, because the answer 'it depends' is always a bit of a letdown.] But I'm glad you find it interesting. Do you meditate?

[pyroelectric]

Of course. Control of oneself and clarity of mind is of the utmost importance, wouldn't you agree?
