Who: joker & YOU.
Broadcast: fleetwide.
Action: ss tourist, if you feel so inclined.
When: 2 / 24
( been a while since you've seen or heard from this one, hasn't it? well, he's been making his rounds, that's for sure, but he's about to bring something to your attention that he's almost positive no one else has bothered to make a note of. )
Okay, so I've gotten on board with the whole I'm-on-a-space-reality-show thing. That's not the problem here. ( he clears his throat. ) The problem is that we're supposed to be getting paid for this junk, right? Has anybody bothered checking their bank account lately?
( and here you will find a pause for dramatic effect. )
Anybody tried to find out why our assets are frozen? I mean, this is a serious oversight. Is there some kind of upper management or somebody in human resources I can talk to?
( joker … now is probably not the time to be asking these sorts of questions.
but if he doesn't ask them, who will? huh? )

My vote's more on aggravating, though.

well, he's got one hell of a ransom on his head if he wants to be rescued. he's worth that much. )
You been keeping busy since I last saw you? ( or out of trouble? please don't say you have, because that's not interesting at all. )
video;
[ Maybe the Atroma - whoever or whatever they are - consider themselves on some level benevolent, but she doubts many people on the fleet see it that way. ]
Mostly I've been working. What with the frozen accounts, and the fact that you need money to do just about anything on this station.

I wouldn't call where I'm from backwards, but for the sake of not starting an argument, I'll give you that one. This time. ( he's already spent more time than he'd like explaining what it's like where he's from.
at least he doesn't have alchemy. he'd think that shit is backwards. )
Define reasonable.

What kinda payment schedule are we looking at?

[ ...From Bigby who was very specific about what he was allowed to spend it on, and put hella interest on it. ]

( especially when it involves probable interest. he really ain't about that. )

( ask the one that, at any given time, barely has enough credits on his chit to pay his bar tab when the crew's on shore leave. the alliance might pay him well, but he's never been all that great with money. someone needs to teach him how to open up a savings account, or something. )
video;
And that's...bad?
video;
Has there ever been a time when debt was a good thing?
( are you new? )
video;
....I have no idea!
video;
I'm gonna go ahead and answer that for you, then. There has never been a time when debt is a good thing. It's a slipper slope, man.
video;
To what??? [ DRUGS? ]
video;
... More debt? Money problems, ah ... depending on how bad it gets or if you're married, maybe drinking problems ...
( joker what are you doing. )
It's just bad, man.
video;
I could get married?!
[ SCOOOOOORE ]

Joker- ?
[ Not even Flight Lieutenant Monreau. She's that surprised that it was bordering on transparently glad. ]

Miranda?
( what in the everloving hell is going on here! )
When the hell did you get here?
no subject
I- I'm not sure. It must be nearing two weeks? After that circus performance with randomized ship assignments I've barely had time to breath let alone think to check to crew manifests for all the ships.
Are you alright? Is it just you? [ It was worth asking - both questions were. The fleet was a joke and bad with money so of course she didn't trust them to have the facilities necessary to see to Joker's medical needs. ]
no subject
Two weeks ... shit, I should have thought to look at the manifests myself. Which ship did you get assigned to?
( he really appreciates your concern, because even though the fleet might not be equipped with their version of karin chakwas, he's been doing all right for himself so far.
which has meant a lot of not moving around as much as he would otherwise. )
M'fine, I guess, aside from being shoved into a space soap opera that I didn't sign up for. You know how that goes. ( shrug. ) Hell, I thought I was alone 'til you showed up. Maybe ... that means some of the others will, too.
no subject
Right now I'm on the Blameless. It's not ideal but... [ Deep breaths, Miranda. ] Again, we're all adjusting. The thought is certainly an encouraging one.
no subject
There are worse places we could be, you know? ( a beat. ) Like fighting the damned Reaper war.
( which is where he should be. thanks so much. )
no subject
Before we get into the business of the war back home I have to ask something. This is going to sound crazy but you said you had been here for months. [ Deep breaths. ]
I saw you only the night before I arrived. At the party - do you remember that?
no subject
and ... here we go. )
Yeah, I remember. ( a beat, and then a smarmy grin just for the hell of it. ) I remember a lot of stuff from that night. Grunt falling asleep in the shower stands out pretty well. ( and then back to serious. )
The last thing I remember, though, is being on the way back to Earth. To end it.
no subject
[ It was a wild enough night to almost forget the looming battle of continued existence. ]
Ah, there's that headache again.
[ Not the hangover - the idea that time itself was now unreliable. ]
video
Maybe they think we did something wrong? [ beat. ] Maybe they did something wrong and we're the ones who have to suffer the punishment?
video;
biscuits aren't supposed to be stick-shaped. )
I tend not to think I do anything wrong. ( major character flaw there kiddo. ) So it's gotta be something they did to mess everything up.
( beat. )
What the hell are you eating?
no subject
That wouldn't surprise me. If only we could prove it wasn't us...
[ Blink! ]
Hmm? Oh. [ She holds up the biscuit, turns it over a few times. ] I don't know, they come free with your order here. They're very good! Want one?
[ You know, like she can just shove one through the communicators for you ]
no subject
but man what he wouldn't do for a real hamburger right now. ugh. he couldn't even get a good one back home!)Proof is always in the eye of the beholder, if you ask me. I mean, I've been in some situations where cold, hard fact is right there and it still gets ignored. ( TY COUNCIL. TY. THIS IS WHY YOU WEREN'T PREPARED FOR THE REAPERS SDLKGH
ahem. )
... What, are you just gonna shove it through the screen? ( is this what smell-o-vision would have been if it hadn't failed so miserably? )
no subject
mmm that would be delicious. alas.]Ahh, true. Some people are just determined to believe what they want, no matter what.
[ Snrk! ] I wish! That would be too easy... I guess one of us will have to move~
no subject
he just wants it with horseradish. that is all he wants out of life, okay.)Which is why I'm convinced that humanity deserves its rank as one of the lower-intelligence species where I'm from. ( okay, so they really aren't ranked that lowly, but the asari are fuck-off genius-level intelligent and the turians are way more tactically inclined ... so. really. what does humanity have going for it?
shepard, basically. not much else. )
... You're gonna make the cripple move, aren't you?
( JOKER. )
no subject
Maybe somewhere in this damn universe, they'll find it. And they can both rejoice.]That can't be the only reason why! [ But note that she is not arguing~
And then, there's a paaaaauuuse... Before she suddenly makes a game-show-esque "Bzzt!" noise, and points a finger in the air! ]
Wrong~! I was actually thinking that I'm going to get them to bring me some more, and then I'm going to find you! We'll split them.
[ She just wanted to make you wonder first. Trololol. ]
no subject
hallelujah, praise the enkindlers.)Well, not the only reason. ( but hey, thanks for not arguing. it wouldn't have been one you would win, anyway. c:
... well you little troll. he knew he liked you. from the very beginning.
he sits back in his chair, smirks and shakes his head. ) I could be nice and meet you halfway. It's been a little while since I've gotten out and stretched my legs. Maybe there's another job for us somewhere ...
( oh? oho? ohoho?
you never know. )
no subject
You could be, yes. Do you want to? Another job does sound nice... and we can snack while we look.
no subject
Figure us out a place and I'll start making my way there. Snacks and job hunting - ah, that's the life.
( and it might mean getting some actual, physical money that he can use instead of just looking at his bank account forlornly. yes, forlornly. )
no subject
Here's one of the docks. That should be easy for both of us to get to, and hopefully a good place to start? I'll be waiting - with, uh, bread-things.
aaaand action!
it really doesn't take him long to catch up with her, and even though it's been a little while since they've met up like this, it's always good to see his little partner in crime. )
There you are. Where're the bread things?
( so he's. kind of hungry. walking takes a lot outta you when your shin bones are basically hollow. )
no subject
She grins as he walks up, holds out a to-go box and pops the lid of it open with her thumbs. Behold! Long, biscuit-y things. ]
Ta-da~ ♪ Have one!
[ It won't heal your hollow shins, alas, but at least it sure is tasty? ]
