[she's not behind his ship, actually.

he seeks her out, hunts her down, following a particularly tantalizing welling of sorrow. so, he's not surprised to find someone crying there, but he is surprised that it's her.

softly stepping around the side of the ship, he stops when he finds her there, and just... 'tsks' quietly under his breath.]

[she tenses up... but does not lift her head up, because she knows exactly who it is. in fact, the only thing she has in response to the sound is a soft groan of agony, because this may have just turned into the single most embarrassing moment of her life.]

Don't be like that.

[at least he could have sounded like more of a prick if he'd tried. that's something, right? not as bad as he could be.]

Did something happen?

Nothing...

[she doesn't sound very convincing. she's doggedly keeping her face down in her knees. she doesn't want Tek to see her crying like a baby, even if it's obvious. last time it was over something scary, like almost dying. this time, it's over kids stuff.]

[his arms are folded, and he settles to lean against the side of the ship. and his voice is quiet. see, he doesn't want to call anymore attention to her, and doesn't want to overpower her voice with his own. they can both be quiet, and he doesn't look like he's planning on helpfully going anywhere else anytime soon.]

Then, what's wrong?

...I miss my friends.

[it's really small, and pathetic, and muffled against her knees, but she says it.]

[oh, he... suddenly has a guess. and his voice isn't too sympathetic, because that just wouldn't be like him. but it is at least devoid of anything mocking.]

...You saw them, didn't you?

All of them.

[she gives a particularly pathetic sniffle before she shifts, reaching into her pocket for a folded-up photograph. she finally looks up--her face is a mess, her makeup is all over the place--and holds it up towards him.]

[there's another disapproving click of his tongue, and something of a wince at seeing her face, but... ugh, it almost does seem sympathetic. stop looking at him like that.

and he reaches down to take the photo, to see what this place has done to make her so upset.]

[oh it's just... a picture of her and all of her weird fairy friends, crowding together in someone's posh living room for a group photograph. most of them look Krista's age, but a couple of them are adults... probably, since they are also a big blue troll, a couple of red-skinned nockers, two sluagh, some princesses, and what appears to be a short, bipedal pig.]

That's all of us... [sniff. looking dejectedly forward.] I thought it would be better, after I left, because they're just illusions and now I've got something so I can't forget, but I'm... [SNIFF, she's getting worked up again. she pushes her face back into her knees.] I'm really fucking lonely...

I know you are.

[he's mentioned the sorrow thing before, hasn't he? he can't help but but know exactly how lonely she is. and it makes him sigh and sound tired.]

But you're also young. [he holds his hand down toward her, waits for her to notice it.]

And if I'm not going to be stuck here forever, neither are you.

[...ugh, Tek is being nice to her. how pathetic must she look right now? she looks up at his hand, wibbling pathetically, but makes extra sure to wipe all of the tears and gross makeup smudges off of her hands (sorry, pants, she'll wash you later) before she reaches up for his.]

[he hoists her up onto her feet, and then picks at her sleeve, tugging a few wrinkles out of place.]

...Ugh. You are a mess, though.

[in case she didn't know.]

Can't have you going back to your ship looking like that.

Ugh, I know... [she tries to clear her sinuses with a throaty "guh" noise.] I think my fae form would be prettier, at this point...

I don't have much... [he still really needs to replenish his collection of cosmetics so bad] ...but we'll at least get you cleaned up enough to back to your ship without them suspecting a thing.

That's what you want, isn't it?

[oh... god, she nods. that seems to get her to really pull herself together.]

I can't let them see me like this.

[see? this is why they get along. similar priorities.]

Precisely. ...Come on.

[and he'll lead the way, confident that she'll follow.

she'll be fixed up and sent on her way in no time.]
