[he probably heard what Robin's instructing him to do. but he's asking this instead anyway.]

[he nods, after a bit. he rubs his face, trying to drum up the will to move and face the fact that the rest of the world still exists.]

[oh... okay. it finally really gets through to him that Robin is there right now, and this is very much a right-now kind of thing.

it gets him up and moving. he nods but doesn't think to say anything beyond that before he shuts off the communicator and slinks his way outside.

when the cargo door comes down, he's there in bare feet, with a bedsheet still wadded around his upper body and held close. he didn't think to leave it behind.]

[he's waiting for him... even takes a step up onto the ramp before it goes down all the way, just to meet him part of the way there.

he hadn't quite had the time to worry about him until now, but... Gods is he glad to see that Nel looks all right, aside from all the crying he must have done.]

[Robin was the one who was hunted down, but Nel definitely looks like he's the one in the most trouble here.

because it's all his fault. the whole thing is his fault.

so, even though he is incredibly relieved to see Robin alive and whole... he hangs his head and goes slinking over when Robin summons him.]

[Robin takes him up into a hug. he doesn't even wait for it. he just grabs him and pulls him in close, wrapping his arms around him.]

You aren't in trouble, okay? I'm sorry this happened.

[he freezes at first reaction, but then just lets himself be squished. it pushes a miserable sound out of him as he lets his ribs compress.

it really can't be called anything but a whimper. there might have been tears along with it if he'd had enough left in him.]

[poor, poor Nel. this is going to break his heart. he holds him close and he pets his hair, for just a little bit, before he loosens up, bending down to get a better look at his face.]
