[It isn't peaceful when the man in the broadcast finally stirs awake. One moment he's merely laying there, awkwardly nude and as still as death, the next he's a flailing mass of limbs that succeeds at knocking himself to the floor. There's a grunt as he meets the floor, and what ensues is a rather odd struggle as he tries unsuccessfully to untangle himself. The best he can manage is a disorganized heap, arms caught beneath his torso and cheek pressed uncomfortably into the floor as he very adamantly voices his displeasure.]

Ordis demands to know what is going on immediately!

[There's certainly anger in his tone, but beneath it there's notes of increasingly uncontrolled alarm, which only seem to increase exponentially with each word. Strangely though, it doesn't seem as though he's quite used to the act of even speaking though, as he struggles to unpin his arms, his hands fly to his face and fingers probing about his features with almost frenetic energy. It can't be pleasant, because there's an exlimation of surprise and pain that has him jerking back and staring wide eyed and horrified down at his arms.]

What is this?!?

And they possess the ability to conduct transference then, yes?

As in, they can transport us to any vessel as they so choose? Yes. You will be beamed onto another ship as soon as they decide where to place you.

That's ridiculous. Ordis knows where he should go, not some pseudo-omnipotent outside force.

That may well be, but Atroma does not give us much of a choice.

[cephalon]

Is there a particular reason that there have been no ventures to seek out this 'Atroma'? Beyond the fact that they seem to be a relatively unknown force?

[pompous_today]

Because wherever they are, they are good at keeping themselves hidden. They can take control of the ships when they wish, and their representatives have not spoken to us in a while now. There are lots of obstacles in the way of trying to find out where and who they are.

[cephalon]

A puzzle then. Something to be worked out beyond wherever they can lay their eyes?

[pompous_today]

Precisely. Atroma has been keeping this show up for years- I find it hard to believe that nobody has never in its history succeeded in escaping.

[cephalon]

The probability of not a single organism escaping would seem to be absolutely impossible. At the best, highly unlikely. Are there records aboard ships of crew? Would it be possible to complete an inventory and try to account for the whereabouts of every passanger, past and present?

[pompous_today]

Nothing in the past cycles, I am afraid, but there are current crew rosters. Once you are assigned to a ship, you might have success by asking around to see if anyone has kept records of departed crew.

[cephalon]

Hm. An interesting pursuit indeed. Ordis thanks you for how forthcoming you are, it is very refreshing, given these- dreadful- unfortunate circumstances.

[pompous_today]

It is no trouble. I figure there is no harm in making sure information is available to as many as possible. Information is one way to combat our captors.

[cephalon]

Indeed. And combat we must, it sounds like a -delightful- proper way to manage autonomy from this 'Atroma' if at all possible.

[pompous_today]

It won't be easy- but finding a way out of this will be worth it.

[cephalon]

Exactly, that is an entirely refreshing statement. Ordis has been hearing quite a bit of 'oh this is the end you're stuck here forever' and frankly that's just- bullsh- -a downer.

I am not ready to give up yet, personally. Everyone has weaknesses, even someone like Atroma who at first seems an intermountable obstacle.

Exactly. It is all about finding those weaknesses, then- destroying- utilizing them to our advantage.
