[Hello Fleet, it's been a while since you all have seen this particular redhead's face on the network. Months, really, since she's made a public broadcast like this. She appears to be in a good mood, offering the fleet a smile, and even if her address is rather formal, her tone is warm and welcoming. Behind her is the greenhouse of the Iskaulit, with lots of tropical-looking plants and even what looks like fruit! Weird fruit! But fruit nonetheless.]

Good afternoon! For those of you who don't know me, I'm Dr. Beverly Crusher of the SS Blue Fish. I, along with Ino Yamanaka on the Three Twins, run the garden here on the Iskaulit. I've spoken with many of you who have expressed an interest in learning how to garden. In light of this, I've decided to offer classes of a sort... nothing too formal, just a weekly meeting where I can teach people the basics of taking care of plants in the environment of a starship. Though of course, if people want something more extensive, I'm more than happy to accommodate for that! But it seems best to start simple, see what people are most interested in. So, if this is something you think you'd like to be a part of or if you have any questions, you can either respond here or I'll be on the Iskaulit the rest of the afternoon should you prefer to talk in person.

Of course. Perhaps it would be best to meet in the lab of the Blue Fish? I can easily assure that we aren’t disturbed there.

[Pause.]

Or rather… all the entrances to the Blue Fish have security codes, so I’ll have to let you in. Meet me at the docking bay in say… fifteen minutes?

Sure, thank you.

[ He disconnects, and is outside the Blue Fish waiting patiently for her when she comes to let him in. (He didn't know how long it would take him to find the correct ship.) They proceed to the lab, where Ramse looks around curiously. His ship doesn't have one, after all. When she closes the door he turns back to her and extends a hand to shake as a proper greeting. ]

Doctor. I'm Ramse.

I guess you'd know that some people in the fleet have special needs?

[The Blue Fish is particularly well equipped, beyond what Atroma initially, thanks to Allen’s bookkeping and Beverly’s gardening. Both of them add to the supplies whenever they can. Most notable - and relevent to Ramse - is the equipment for the blood drive, including the locked refrigerator.]

Pleasure to meet you, Ramse.

[She gives a slow nod in response to his question. “Special needs” could mean any number of things.]

I am aware, yes.

[ He doesn't know the difference between a normal med bay and this one, but he does notice the equipment that he needs. Beverly might notice his eyes lingering there before returning to her. His tone stays polite and conversational. ]

Did you know there's a vampire on one of our ships that nobody's feeding?

[Ah.]

I was under the impression Atroma supplied supplements for the vampires on board.

And I'm under the impression they don't. He's pretty hungry.

Do you know how to ask Atroma questions? I don't... I just want to feed the poor guy.

Atroma doesn't talk to us at all. Sometimes they send a proxy, the so-called "hosts" of the show, Diamond and Beau, but they rarely respond to us, just leave announcements for the fleet.

However, I can try putting in a request for blood supplements for you. As a lab tech, I can put in requests for special medications that we aren't otherwise supplied with.

Okay... I appreciate that, but until then I'd like to feed him. I'd only be drawing my own blood.

[Yeah that's.... Not something she's comfortable with, not without knowing more. A whole lot more. And probably not without consulting Allen either since you know. Supernatural things.]

With all due respect, how well do you know this person?

Not great. I only know one person here really well, I haven't been here long. But I believe him that he's starving.

[Still sounds suspicious as hell to her. So.]

I'm not even going to consider giving you access to our equipment unless both of you agree to an examination - and I want my lab partner to be there too. He's got more experience in the... supernatural than I do. If you want to give up your blood, that is your choice, but it's my job to make sure this is done in a safe manner. For both you and him.

[ This is frustrating, doctor. ]

...what kind of examination.

I'm trying to do this safe, you realize I could have just cut myself or let him bite me, right?

I know. [And she will grant him a small smile. She's honestly not trying to be difficult, but she really does see this as part of her job.] And I'm glad you didn't. I promise, it'll just be a routine physical. I'd want to do the same for anyone who was doing any sort of blood transfusion.

I guess I haven't had a checkup in about thirty years... alright. You don't need your partner just for me, do you? We can get it over with?

You can see just me. Are you available now?

I'm available.

... what do I have to do?

[ He doesn't remember much about the doctor besides drawing blood and shining a light in his face. ]

Nothing! Just be here and my scanner will take care of the rest.

Great.

[ And he doesn't have to take anything off for her to see his scars. Awesome.

He holds still, his arms out slightly to either side. ]

Did that come with the med bay or did you bring it from home?

[Beverly flips open the tricorder and takes out the little handheld scanner attached to it. It makes a soft buzzing noise as she sweeps it over him, from head to toe.]

The tricorder? It's from home, though the labs do come with some scanners. They just aren't as advanced as this one is.

Oh, okay. So, uh... what's it telling you?

[ Is he dying?! ]

[Just give her one moment more and... there! All done. And he's not dying! Hooray! There are signs of previous malnourishment and starvation - obviously why he's taken this situation so to heart - and old injuries, but nothing that is a problem now.]

You're healthy and in good shape to be a donor, all things considered. But I still do need to see... ah, what did you say his name was?

[ Yay healthy! He blinks like he wasn't expecting that, then relaxes. ]

That's good to know... could you check for something else, though? If I'm immune to a virus, could that thing tell if I'm still a carrier?

His name's Sascha. He's on the Bloodsport.

[She nods.] It can. [Tapping a few buttons, she recalibrates the tricorder appropriately and runs it over him again.]

It looks like you're clean... One side effect of the augments though is that they cause viruses from home to go dormant, so I can't promise that this result will hold when you return home.

That's okay, as long I'm clean here it'll keep my crewmates from treating me like I have the plague.

[She frowns in disapproval.]

What exactly are they doing, if I may ask?
