Who: Beverly Crusher
Broadcast: Video
Action: Iskaulit
When: Now!

[Hello Fleet, it's been a while since you all have seen this particular redhead's face on the network. Months, really, since she's made a public broadcast like this. She appears to be in a good mood, offering the fleet a smile, and even if her address is rather formal, her tone is warm and welcoming. Behind her is the greenhouse of the Iskaulit, with lots of tropical-looking plants and even what looks like fruit! Weird fruit! But fruit nonetheless.]

Good afternoon! For those of you who don't know me, I'm Dr. Beverly Crusher of the SS Blue Fish. I, along with Ino Yamanaka on the Three Twins, run the garden here on the Iskaulit. I've spoken with many of you who have expressed an interest in learning how to garden. In light of this, I've decided to offer classes of a sort... nothing too formal, just a weekly meeting where I can teach people the basics of taking care of plants in the environment of a starship. Though of course, if people want something more extensive, I'm more than happy to accommodate for that! But it seems best to start simple, see what people are most interested in. So, if this is something you think you'd like to be a part of or if you have any questions, you can either respond here or I'll be on the Iskaulit the rest of the afternoon should you prefer to talk in person.

Thank you for your attention!

[And Crusher out!]

[ Most likely, and he knows that somewhere in the more instinctual part of his brain. It's dangerous to challenge any CMO to anything in his opinion, but then he was heavily biased thanks to McCoy. The new information did give him pause, but it wasn't enough to change his mind.

He had never been a POW, but he had suffered in his own ways, ways he preferred not to remember, and others that were still to raw. He didn't think her keeping it from him had been doing him favors. Would she ever find it a 'good' time to tell him, would his well-being ever be served by telling him? Kirk would rather know the possibility of the monsters in the dark, to better guard himself, than to go on living in ignorance. He might never have forgiven McCoy if he had done something like to him, he thought.

But Beverely was not McCoy, was she? And it wasn't hard for him to see that she was not going to give ground on this, and neither was he. Stubborn as he might be, even he could see when it was a losing battle and he would rather not sour what relationship they had. ]

We just see the situation a bit differently, then.

But we can both agree we need to be on our guard with this Atroma, right? If it's willing to commit something that close to genocide - theorized genocide anyways, I hate to think what else it finds acceptable and is capable of.

[ They could argue in circles about what was the right way to handle things. He would have said he wouldn't have appreciated her keeping such a thing from him, that he would have felt more secure understanding the true potential of the monsters that had taken them, but he had not been there and she had. It was a moot point now, and butting heads over it was, essentially, pointless.

She could get over it or not. While Kirk valued her opinion and friendship, he wasn't about to apologize for what he felt was right either. It was his stubbornness in full swing. ]

That's true. We're applying human concepts of morals and decency to something that we don't even know if its human, machine, alien, or otherwise. It's safer to assume it's capable of anything.

[ His mouth set in a hard line, his eyes doing the same. He shifted his weight, crossing his arms stiffly. ]

I really hate this part - not knowing what we can do. Not knowing anything, really.

[ He nodded. ]

Very true. Now it's just the patience part. I'm still working on that part of being a leader.

[ Well, at least he wasn't disappointing in that regard then. He didn't personally think he would ever learn much patience, honestly, but he did hope to learn not making poor decisions while being less than patient. ]

Heh, I guess I had better or go insane - or possibly drive others insane.

Yes, perhaps I should. I've been exercising, but it can only occupy so much of my time. I wouldn't mind having a project or two like back at the station.
