[Another month, another mingle. Once again, any visitors on the ship should bear in mind that there are locks installed all over the ship, so someone on board's gotta let you in. Or you can just stand there. And stare. And hope someone takes pity on you.]

[ at the heralding knock, she sets aside her work and smooths her skirts. sansa approaches the door -- stands in silence for a moment -- and then opens it. somehow, katara isn't who she expected. mild surprise is quickly masked by a polite (if distant) smile. katara has earned that much from her, at least, due to her warmth and welcome on the sledding hill. ]

Good day, [ she greets. she curtsies. and she steps aside so katara might come in, should she wish. ] M-may I help you, Lady Katara?

[ katara isn't entirely sure what the proper way to respond to the curtsy is - she doesn't really have any skirts of her own - so she just smiles a little instead and steps inside. not far: she doesn't want to intrude, especially since sansa seems a little surprised, but it felt wrong not to at least thank her. ]

This was from you, right?

[ she's holding the embroidery piece, but it's clear that her grip is gentle, careful. ]

[ she nods -- sheepish, but proud. sansa's hands are folded against her stomach. straight posture, perhaps, but there's a brightness in her expression that has been missing these past moons. ]

I -- I thought it was only right and proper to do something for you. All of you, who have been so welcoming to me and my kin.

[kyasdaughter]

[ katara smiles at that, a little surprised at the sheepishness. suddenly, she feels awfully empty-handed - she should've brought something in return. ]

It's... really pretty. Was it hard to learn?

[steeledskin]

No -- [ her answer is quick. but then sansa considers the question, and responds again: ] Or, mayhaps. Only I've learned it since I was little. I can't remember it being difficult.

[ not like it's been for arya. ]

[kyasdaughter]

[ she considers that for a moment, looking down at the work in her hand again, before glancing curiously up at sansa. ]

Could I pay you for lessons?

[ it'd be something to pass the time, at least. ]

[steeledskin]

P-pay?

[ she's startled! not least of all because she'd never considered herself so skilled that she could be someone else's teacher, and because it seems unlike a noble daughter to be paid for any sort of gentle skill. so she's quick to shake her head. ]

Please. Let me show you what I can, but I cannot accept any payment.

[kyasdaughter]

If you're sure.

[ katara is - well, a little startled when sansa is startled, just because she's not sure what the source of surprise is, but her expression smooths over almost immediately. ]

I'll teach you something in exchange, then. I'm - not sure what, yet, but we'll figure something out, right?

[ it's friendly, warm. ]
