[Another month, another mingle. Once again, any visitors on the ship should bear in mind that there are locks installed all over the ship, so someone on board's gotta let you in. Or you can just stand there. And stare. And hope someone takes pity on you.]

[Allen had had the morning off, so he hadn't been privileged to the joys that were Max. But he'll respond to his communicator fast enough]

Of course. I'm on my way.

[And sure enough he is! Which- whoa. What in the world??]

- What happened?

[dancingmd]

Ah... [She's holding an ice pack to her eye, but, wincing, she moves the pack away so he can get a better look.] I got punched in the face by a patient.

[?!]

[Yeah, you better believe he's going in for a closer look]

A patient punched you?!

[dancingmd]

[She nods.] I was pulling a bad tooth and it... triggered something, something that terrifies him I think.

Was it that guy on the network who wanted surgical pliers?

[Glancing at the eye of what he can see, he grimaces at it. He then moves over to the sink to take off his cloth gloves and wash his hands]

Mmm. Max. Ino and I caught him stealing vegetables from the gardens, which is how we found out about his tooth. He was trying to make a mash to eat because his jaw hurt too much to chew.

[She groans a little and puts the ice pack back on her eye, at least until he's ready.]

I don't know much about his world, but I get the sense that he's not used to anyone helping him with anything. He was going to try to remove the tooth himself.

Yeah....when I spoke to him, he referred to doctors as Organ Mechanics. [What a metal term huh] I think that says enough about what his world's medical system is like.

[He finishes washing his hands and puts on some surgical gloves. Grabbing some cleaning supplies, he heads back over to Beverly]

Were you able to get the tooth out, at least?

I was. Mainly I'm worried about him taking care of it properly... last thing he needs after all of this is to be dealing with a dry socket.

Hmmm....well, if he has someone close to him we know can be responsible, maybe we can have them pass on the information on how to care for it?

[And readying the cleaning solution]

Alright, please remove the icepack real quick so I can clean it.

[dancingmd]

[She obligingly removes the ice pack.]

Furiosa knows. She came with him today... indeed, is probably one of the only reasons he showed up at all.

Really...[Well hey, whatever works. He starts cleaning off the black eye, as gently as he can. Since really- who knows where Max's fists have been] I haven't spoken with her.

[dancingmd]

[She lets out a hiss of pain when Allen touches the bruise but she stays still otherwise.] They're from the same world. They're friends there, I believe. So if anyone's going to get through to him, it's her.

[He makes a nod]

Understandable. If you haven't already, I'll put her on his emergency contact forms. [Because better than anyone else honestly] And ah...if you'd like, next time I can be there when you see him. [You know, in case he throws more punches]

[dancingmd]

[Her expression goes soft at that and she tries to smile but. Ow. Okay maybe not do that for a while. In truth, she doesn't feel particularly unsafe around Max and she's experienced worse than a black eye, but it's probably not a bad idea, especially if there are times when Furiosa can't come with Max.]

That would be appreciated, even though I don't think he's any real danger to me... well, best to be safe.

[He finally finishes wiping up the eye. Pulling away, he smiles at her]

Right, of course. If he starts throwing punches again out of reflex, at least I can help restrain him.

[dancingmd]

[She nods with a sigh.]

Furiosa and Ino were there, thankfully, but I still had to sedate him. I'd rather not have to do that next time.

Well... [awkwardly admitting] Considering my best method of restraining would be using ribbons to tie him up, we might want to keep the sedatives on hand just in case.

[Because weirdly people with trauma aren't calmed down by being tied up. Weird]

Hmm, no that would probably not help calm him down very much. Whatever he was flashing back to, he was shouting at me to let go, even though I wasn't restraining him at all.

[ He gives a sigh... ]

Too bad we don't have a proper counselor on these ships....

[Ah, but that would ruin their value as entertainment now, wouldn't it?]

I don't think I've ever missed Deanna as much as I do now. I know enough to recognize the signs of PTSD, but I'm in no way qualified to provide the therapy he would need.
