all aboard the ss blamless

Who: Crew of the SS Blameless and visitors.
Broadcast: Nope
Action: SS Blameless
When: March, or until we feel like a new one.

[It's a mingle! Get out of the car!

Unique ship notes for new crew and visitors: giant, unmissable scorch marks currently line the walls of several corridors leading from the cargo hold to the bridge!

Also, thanks to Kate, we now have a SWEARS AND ATTITUDES JAR displayed prominently in the kitchen. Whenever someone's being naughty instead of nice, they're compelled to deposit a few credits (or at least an iou) into the awaiting jar.

Also also, we are all still bunking together. HAVE FUN.]

[While watching Ahsoka get ready, Luke goes full power converters:] He's almost a thousand years old! I don't really think he was coming up with new techniques.
resnipstance: neutral, talking (32)

"full power converters" i laughed

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-03-10 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
You never know! Part of the Jedi code is dedicating yourself to life-long self improvement, you know.

Now shh, I'm trying to concentrate.
t65: (dont ask c3po)

its a viable system of measurement ok.

[personal profile] t65 2016-03-10 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Luke slumps in the corner, and it could really be far more childish considering how disappointed he is with Yoda right now.]

[...So Luke makes up the difference by throwing credit chits and spare bits of scrap paper at Ahsoka a few minutes after her eyes close.]
resnipstance: facepalm (116)

it is.

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-03-10 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Ahsoka lifts one hand, levitating the things Luke tries to throw at her.

After the sixth or so item, however, she starts to lose her focus, and tumbles down on the ground gracefully with a roll. She sighs.]

No good. All the blood keeps rushing to my head!
t65: (c:)

[personal profile] t65 2016-03-10 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It did for me too. For the first week. But Yoda insisted I kept trying. [He sighs.] What do you do to center yourself, Ahsoka?
resnipstance: cute smile, relaxed, shrug (140)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-03-11 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes I meditate too. Just-- not doing handstands. You know, sitting normally.

Otherwise, sometimes I go through my lightsaber forms. Moving meditation.
t65: (current mood: :/)

[personal profile] t65 2016-03-13 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
We did a little of that. Yoda said I needed to stay still; I was too impatient. [Reckless, daring, thoughtless, you know, the usual.] Maybe that's why he had me do it, and not you.
resnipstance: fond smile (139)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-03-15 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe.

Have you tried building or fixing things? For meditation, I mean. That's what Anakin does, when he's agitated.
t65: (god hes so pasty)

[personal profile] t65 2016-03-15 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yes, but that's not... is that meditation? For Jedi- Jedi from your time? [Is that permissible? He can just hear Yoda telling him how he has to focus, how tinkering with crude implements is just another vestige of impatience and a severe lack of vision.]
resnipstance: neutral, talking (158)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-03-16 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
It's not exactly traditional, but if it works, who cares? Everyone is different. What works for one person isn't necessarily going to work for another. I think sometimes... some of the more conventional Jedi ways fail to take that into account.
t65: (wwwwwwhhh)

[personal profile] t65 2016-03-16 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
But how am I to know the traditional Jedi from the traditionalists? [Wait, actually, more importantly... Luke looks up at Ahsoka with a painfully earnest intensity:] Was my father a traditional Jedi?

resnipstance: smiling, talkative, relaxed (138)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-03-16 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Absolutely not. That's why we worked so well together.
t65: (go buy yourself a star war.)

[personal profile] t65 2016-03-16 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. [Luke isn't sure whether to be relieved or disappointed.] What about Ben?
resnipstance: cute smile, relaxed, shrug (140)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-03-16 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Obi-Wan? Obi-Wan is... I guess you could say he's the model. The pinnacle of what a Jedi traditionally should be.
t65: (oh shit)

[personal profile] t65 2016-03-16 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Luke isn't sure what to make of that.] And Yoda?
resnipstance: unsure, serious, thoughtful, judging (160)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-03-17 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Ahsoka frowns, clearly not quite so pleased.]

Yoda too. I guess.
t65: (in this scene our intrepid hero)

[personal profile] t65 2016-03-17 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
Did you two... get along? [He feels he knows Ahsoka well enough to ask at this point, and he's always itching with curiosity about how the Old Order operated.]
resnipstance: neutral, listening, considering (111)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-03-17 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Carefully, neutrally:]

... I thought we did. But I guess I was wrong.
t65: (visit exotic dagobah.)

[personal profile] t65 2016-03-17 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Luke speaks with the slow ease of the emotionally fluent,] Do you want to talk about it? We don't have to, of course. I can go back to standing on my head, if you like.
resnipstance: unsure, eyebrow raise (82)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-03-17 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
[Ahsoka purses her lips for a moment, clearly uncertain. It's the face of someone who isn't sure whether their bond is close enough for her to emotionally burden Luke with something so heavy or not.]

Oh. Um...

[Instead, she does another hand-stand, to avoid looking at Luke head-on. After a moment, she starts walking around the cargo hold on her hands, seemingly relaxed. In actuality, it's to give her something to occupy herself while thinking.]

Mm. It's just-- it's a super long story, you know? When I left the Order, it wasn't on the greatest terms, and... well. It's kind of depressing.
Edited (i forgot the bracket.) 2016-03-17 09:28 (UTC)
t65: (in this scene our intrepid hero)

[personal profile] t65 2016-03-17 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry to hear that. You seem like just the sort of Jedi I'd want to be like. [He won't press her. Instead, he watches her walk on her hands and wonders if he'll ever be that acrobatic.] Honestly, a lot of what I've heard here about the Jedi of old... confuses me.
resnipstance: smile, interested (89)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-03-17 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
[That makes her smile fondly, and she comes back down on the floor right-side-up.]

Well, why don't you tell me the parts that confuse you, and maybe I can help shed some light on it?

Though-- just to be clear, there are some aspects of the Code that still confuse me as well.
t65: (wwwwwwhhh)

[personal profile] t65 2016-03-17 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's a bad sign when you feel like you understand everything, [he says with a bit of humor,] then you stop learning. But... well, first, I don't like the idea of taking children from their parents-- their families-- so young.
resnipstance: unsure, talking, eyebrow raise, curious (137)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-03-17 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Well-- the idea is to prevent attachment.

The children aren't forcibly taken. Younglings who come to the Temple are given up by their parents willingly. It's a choice, and we would never remove that.
t65: (ha ha dying would suck right now.)

[personal profile] t65 2016-03-17 09:50 am (UTC)(link)
But- what's so wrong with attachment? [luke no] That seems like the point of being a Jedi, to me. [luke stop]
