first one to make that doctor who joke loses
Who: Everyone! All of you!
Broadcast: Maybe!
Action: Definitely!
When: Anytime during the toxic moon event!
---
[boy oh boy, isn't everyone just so excited to explore this... charming... place...?
this is a game-wide mingle and the timeframe isn't super-important, so throw in with whatever you want! play war games, go shopping for gas masks, get lost in the wilderness, hide up in the Iskaulit and refuse to set foot on the moon, anything goes.
here's the main event info post for reference! have fun!]

[ It's not exactly a description he would use to describe something beautiful, but beauty was in the eyes of the beholder, no? ]
Maybe one day I'll get to see these sandworms of yours. From a distance though, perhaps. I've had to many run ins with things that are big and with lots of teeth. You'd think I was exuding some sort of pheromone that said 'eat me'.
no subject
[ A little teasing. ] It's best that you see one from the air, never from the ground. Though I suppose I could manage it. Fremen used to ride sandworms into the desert.
no subject
Does that mean you'd give me a birds eye view tour of your city then while we look for them?
no subject
I suppose I could. Though Arrakis may not seem that impressive to you.
no subject
You would be surprised. Everything is impressive, I think, in its own way. Sometimes the impressive part is just subtle and hidden.
no subject
Nothing on Arrakis is subtle, save for the politics.
no subject
Good thing I don't plan on getting involved in that. Politics is not my strong suit, I'll admit.
no subject
[ Again, mere teasing than his usual mocking tone. ]
no subject
I'll have you know I can be quite convincing when I want to be, and I am quite the orator.
[ He clucked his tongue and moved another piece on the board. ]
Check.
no subject
[ He grins, sharp teeth and all. ] Nicely done. Most people don't lead with pawns.
no subject
Also something I have nearly had happen to me.
[ He's still a touch miffed at Spock for that encounter. ]
Most people follow precedents and rules. I like to go the path less traveled.
no subject
[ He resets the board. ]
Though I hesitate to say politics has rules.
no subject
[ He raised a brow. ]
Did I mention something about that to you?
[ He wasn't sure he had... ]
And no, I do mean literally. The one that always stands out is the giant red crab monster.
[ He waits patiently for him to do so. ]
They supposedly have rules, but let's be real - they're more like guidelines, no?
no subject
Everything is a guideline in the unknown. Even more so when cultures collide. Where do you stop? What is the limit to change, when explorers play God? Guideline is certainly a good word for it.
[ He leans back a bit. ] That being said, you should have your own rules.
no subject
He nodded at the Knight, but led with a pawn again all the same. ]
I do. Star Fleet has theirs, and I have mine. In the end, I think, it comes down to what can you live with.
no subject
And mistakes? Can you live with those?
no subject
[ They had short lives, yes, but they burned brightly, and if you had any sense you lived the fullest that you could. Short did not mean unfulfilled or meaningless. ]
You don't have a choice, do you? You either have to, or you let them destroy you. And I've made my fair share. But I won't let them define me, either.
no subject
There is always a choice. Even that is a choice. I hope that in the end . . . everyone gets their ability to choose.
no subject
Heh - I meant, you don't have a choice when it comes to the consequences of your actions and your mistakes. Choices lead to that, and the ones you make - you have to live with what comes next, with what you set in motion. You can't escape them, not forever, and sometimes it's not just you but others that have to live with those consequences too.
We all can choose. Living with the choice is the hard thing.
[ He moved a knight now, blue eyes watching the board with a sudden fierce intensity. ]
no subject
It seems we've wandered into personal territory.
no subject
[ He blinked and looked up and laughed softly. ]
Yeah, guess we have. Sorry about that. I try and keep a hold of it, but sometimes... just slips out, I guess.
no subject
no subject
No?
[ He cocked his head at him slightly, moving his bishop out. ]
Maybe not. I've been told I'm far to expressive and easy to read.
no subject
[ He shrugs loosely. ]
Perhaps the ability to be read is one to be treasured, instead of being looked down on. Sometimes . . . that is the way it should be. People should know each other.
no subject
Hmm, agreed. Personally, I think it makes it easier for the crew to read me. Which is both good and bad. I'm the captain, you know. Some things the crew shouldn't see.
[ Like when he had no idea what to do anymore or when he was beyond scared. No, the crew shouldn't see those things in their captain. ]
Do you want people to know you better back home, Leto?
