[One of Vash's eyes opens and a cheeky grin spreads across his face.] Encore, huh? Alright!

[He twitches and gurgles. Rolling around on the ground.] Ouch! Ah! They got me captain! The world! It's growing cold and dark! Make sure you avenge me! AVENGE ME!!

[Then suddenly all the energy he was rolling about with stops in an instant as his arms fall to the ground in 'death'.]

[ they'd gathered a little crowd: a willing little audience, some of whom had been participants in the same game they'd just interrupted with their hijinks. and one of them (a young kid barely into his teenage years) took it upon himself to avenge the red-coated dramatist. the first shot skims kate's arm, smudging it blue. the next lands squarely in the middle of her rib cage. she is, after all, the villain of the story.

laughing, she sinks to her knees. ] Consider yourself officially avenged.

Good! My children would be proud! You know, if I had any. [Vash jumps to his feet effortlessly without using his arms to bow to the crowd.] Thank you! Thank you! I'll be here all week! And I couldn't have done it without my lovely, but "evil" [He even does the air quotes.] assistant and brave hero co-star!

[ladybro]

[ she throws up a hand -- presumably, so he can help her get back to her feet. it's not that she needs the help. but sometimes it's nice, you know? and it'll make the inevitable paired bow all the slicker. ]

I prefer 'misunderstood' but -- sure. Let's go with evil.

[goldenglasses]

[Vash is more than happy to take her hand and help pull Kate to her feet.] I think we could work the misunderstood angle just fine.

[ladybro]

[ she anchors her hands around his wrist and pulls up out of the mud and paint. ] I was never loved as a child, [ she answers mawkishly. false and dramatic. ]

[goldenglasses]

[Vash is quick to respond by throwing the back of his hand to his forehead.] Oh the inhumanity! She only needed to be shown what love is like!

[ laughing, she takes a bow of her own -- fingers still gripped around his wrist. in the aftermath, she transitions smoothly to a handshake. ]

Hi. Kate Bishop.

[Vash grins and grasps Kate's hand in return of the shake.] Vash the Stampede. It's a great honour to be shot by such a charismatic and misunderstood villain.

And it's a pleasure to have shot such an obliging and stage-worthy hero.

It's easy when you're "murdered" by such a good shot! [Was he hard to hit or even see? No. Is he going to flatter a lady? Hell yes.]

Guns aren't normally my thing. But I suppose it's still all about aiming, right?

Aiming and having fun. So if guns aren't normally your things, what is? And please say men in red coats and a great hair style!

Bows and arrows, actually. But -- if you squint, they might as well be the same thing.

Are you kidding? Bows and arrows are cooler. You need really good arm strength to use those don't you? With a gun it's just point and shoot. [Says the best marksman in his universe.]

[ladybro]

[ oh, kate takes this opportunity to flex her drawing arm. there is muscle, there -- in her biceps, and along her shoulders. on a good day, she shares the title of greatest marksman in her universe with her mentor. ]

Guns have their own tricks. I can shoot one of those, too. But I prefer my arrows. A little more humane, sometimes. If you can believe it.

You really think so? [Said not in the tone of someone who doesn't believe what Kate is saying, but rather someone excited to find someone like minded.] At least you don't mean faster death kind of humane, right?

I don't kill. [ kate is firm, but not contrarian. she doesn't set out assuming that others do kill. ] It's kinda outside the job description.

[ that's not to say she's an angel -- she's blinded people, before. she's shot an arrow through a man's wrist. but lines have to be drawn somewhere. and kate bishop does not kill. ]

Really? [There is no scepticism in his voice. Just the excitement of finding someone like minded.] I think that's great! After all, no one has the right to take the life of another.

And -- it's just not something you can brush off, y'know? Especially if you're trying even just a little bit to be a good guy. There are lines you just can't cross.

[Vash nods along as she speaks.] I couldn't agree with you more. There's always another way out of any/i> situation without killing as long as you keep your eyes open.
