[boy oh boy, isn't everyone just so excited to explore this... charming... place...?

this is a game-wide mingle and the timeframe isn't super-important, so throw in with whatever you want! play war games, go shopping for gas masks, get lost in the wilderness, hide up in the Iskaulit and refuse to set foot on the moon, anything goes.

[The casual touch startles her. Because it always does when people just...touch her voluntarily. She doesn't mind. Quite the opposite. It's just still something she's never going to expect from others.]

Am I? Well, not a lot of sun in space.

[Even she can hear the lameness of that excuse. And it's always been hard for her to be deceitful to people she considers friends.]

I'm all right, Arthur.

[He strokes the side of his thumb over her cheek and stops scanning her for more symptoms to look back at her.]

Are you sure? Because you're sweating, too.

[He gives her an apologetic smile.] I'm not trying to pry. I'm just concerned.

[Well, if that doesn't just crumble her lame defenses. Now she just feels bad for deflecting. He's trying to be nice to her.]

I don't like the masks. I can hold off the effects of the air for a while. I just...couldn't breathe with that thing on my face.

[He sighs, letting his hand fall.]

I know. They're annoying as hell.

[After a quick look around, he grabs a stool from the stand and scoots it over to her.]

At least sit for a little bit?

Arthur, I'm fine. [Lie.]

[She smiles gamely, shaking her head a little.

Not a lot mind. That way lies dizziness. Poison is not fun.]

This is nothing. Really.

[He presses his lips together and nods, then gestures at his unfinished work.] What do you think? Too obnoxious?

[Yes please, change of subject.

She gives her attention to the pretty panting he's done and shakes her head.]

No, it's lovely. Bright. Alive and healthy. It's a good choice.

[His lips quirk up a little, pleased with her praise.]

Good. Thank you.

[He gestures at the painting again.] You wanna help? There's not much left to do, but I could use the extra hands.

[Unwell or not, the offer gets a look of excited delight.]

Yes! I do. I mean, I'd love to. Please.

[Give her a brush already!]

[He chuckles and reaches down into the cup with brushes in it, then holds it out for her.]

I'm working on the vine still, but I think it needs something else. Maybe you can come up with something.

I'm sure I can do something complimentary.

[She has a brush in her hand quick as a blink. And she just dives right in.

She paints a butterfly coming to rest on one of Arthur's flowers, a bird perching on a thicker part of the vine, hints of a rabbit hiding in tall grass. She spends time on each one, so it's not just a quick sketch suggestion of things. No she puts details in. If one looks close enough, they'll see the delicate veins of the butterfly's wings, the glint of sunlight on the bird's wing.

And she couldn't be happier just at the moment. She might cough here and there, but still, she hums softly while she works.]

[Arthur starts out putting details on his leaves, working steadily. And then he notices Syeira's work, glancing at her now and then. Her detail's exquisite, and he eventually gives up and watches her paint. She looks so serene, so happy and light.

He thinks maybe this is what makes them good together. The flowers were great, the animals are wonderful, but together they're fantastic. She's beauty and kindness, but she's also secrets and more, and he suddenly can't quite believe she might be his friend. He might be staring a bit too long, a soft smile on his face as he watches her paint. Although there's a bit of green paint hanging out on his cheek.]

[She's lost in her work, not noticing his attention for a long while. At least he's not the only one with paint on himself. She's been using the back of her hands to blend colors, to get brighter hues and subtler shades. She keeps coming back to the butterfly, adding more secrets to its details.

When she finally turns her head and sees him watching her, she smiles, blushes because he seems to have been watching her a long while.]

I'm sorry, was I ignoring you?

Ah- no, I...

[He ducks his head shyly, so she can't see the echoing blush on his cheeks.]

Sorry.

[He grabs the cloth on the floor to wipes his hands off again, his hands nervous and quick.]

You're really good.

[Double meaning, really. Good at painting, a good person.]

[The blush deepens and the smile widens, as she tucks her hair behind her pointed ear, bashfully.]

Thank you.

[She can stand to be complimented for all of two seconds before she has to divert it.]

I just worked off of what you'd already created.

[He looks up then, shaking his head with an amused look.] You put some life into it. Imagination.

[He considers offering her credits for helping, but it would just bring attention to the fact that the store owner's not paying him, since he'd be paying her from his account. He scoots over to her side, chuckling as he takes her hands in his. His hands are soft, not calloused very much at all. He begins wiping at the paint on the back of her hands.]

I could have gotten you something to mix your paint on, silly.

[Her hands, in contrast, are quite calloused from years of musical training and swordplay.

She blinks as he takes them in his and starts wiping at the paint spots. Mostly he's making smears of colors, blues, greens, a dab of purple.]

My hands work just fine. And it lets me know when the color's becoming too dry.

[He smirks.] You just like getting messy, [he teases her. He sighs helplessly at her hands.] I think I'm just turning you into a Kandinksy.

[She nods in good humor.]

Caught me. Any excuse to take a shower.

[Wait for it.]

What's a Kandinksy?

[Don't think of Sye in the shower, don't think of Sye in the shower, don't think -

Dangit.

He flusters a little bit before clearing his throat.] A, uh... Kandinsky was a man. An abstract artist. His work had a lot of shapes and colors. Just... reminded me of it.

[He looks up at her then.] Will you draw me if I draw you? [He's been thinking about asking her that ever since his earlier art post.]

[He would be disappointed by the reality. She bathes with her tunic shirt on. Because it's a public place.

His request makes her chuckle.]

Actually, you're already on my wall. I can make you another if you'd like.

[He blinks at her in surprise.] I am?

[His ears are getting red afslkj.] Yeah, I'd like that. If you don't mind. Can I see the first one, too?

Of course. I draw all my friends. When we get back to the Red Fish, I'll show you, and then make one for you.

[A lump forms in his throat. He looks down and swallows around it.]

I'm glad we're friends, [is all he can force out, his face bright red and his eyes avoiding hers. He hates this reaction, wants to crawl in a hole and die. But it's been a long time since someone's called him a friend and meant it.]

Me too.

[Her expression calms, softens, and she squeezes his hands. She's not sure what caused this reaction in him, but she wants to help. If she can.]

Arthur, are you all right?
