[boy oh boy, isn't everyone just so excited to explore this... charming... place...?

this is a game-wide mingle and the timeframe isn't super-important, so throw in with whatever you want! play war games, go shopping for gas masks, get lost in the wilderness, hide up in the Iskaulit and refuse to set foot on the moon, anything goes.

Can't have that. [ Haruka's eyes track the game, trying to figure out the rules. Oh, okay. They have to run there, and then - get the ball (is that a ball?) over there, and -

Ouch, it's a contact sport. She manages not to wince. ]

[Chloe winces at the hit as well, though she's grinning at the same time.]

No clue how this game works but I think the brown team is winning.

What would you call the other color? [ From how much dirt everybody tracks in from outside, there's a lot of brown around here, period. ]

[Chloe took a drag off her cigarette as she considered the other team.]

That works. [ Michiru would know. If Michiru would deign to label colors like this.

Haruka's brows twitch as half of one time collides with half of the other. They can't claim it's an elegant sport. ]

[Chloe's an artist, with all the fun pretension about colors and shit that goes with it.]

Don't feel bad though, I've been watching for like an hour and I still don't have a fuckin' clue what the rules are.

Do you think they do? [ Haruka nods to the players. Her cynicism, it overflows. ]

[She shrugs.]

Maybe? I think they're having enough fun it doesn't matter.

Someone should.

[ She's frankly amazed anyone could bear to have fun after doing this to a perfectly good moon. But she also knows she can't be rational about things like screwed-up moons with no wind. ]

[Well the people playing the game probably weren't directly responsible.]

Gotta find whatever fun you can, right?

[ It's the idea of the thing. ] I don't suppose you've gotten roped into any of these.

[ She's been trying to avoid it, herself. But everywhere she goes she ends up with people babbling about her long legs and broad shoulders and how it's perfect for this, that, or the other thing....

Nope. [She smirked.] Had a couple people try but I'm seriously not much of a team player.

Saw them force one person to play though. Something about being rude.

...and then she realizes she's just been chatting at this person without introducing herself. Not a huge deal, but might as well. ] ...Haruka, by the way.

I guess it's not rude to them.

[She gives a little salute with the hand holding the cigarette.]

[ She nods in response. ] I haven't seen you around before.

[ Let's conveniently ignore she spends most of her time in ~~the counseling room where her partner "works"~~ her ship. ]

[She shrugs.]

Haven't been hiding or anything. I'm usually on the Tourist or the Paisley.

Split loyalties?

[ Actually, Haruka has a different guess. But this is more fun. ]

...Kinda. [She almost doesn't elaborate, but then really, who cares?]

I'm on the Tourist. My girlfriend lives on the Paisley.

That seems inconvenient. [ And Haruka actually seems interested. And sympathetic.

It took her and Michiru like a week, tops, to end up on the same ship. But to each their own arrangement. ]

Sometimes. But it's not like the rooms around here are really big enough to share all the time anyway.

[She shrugs.]

[ Not everyone's partner can be the ship counselor and get her own guidance office, then. Got it. Haruka nods. ] Fair enough.

[ Oh. One of the players on the field is down... ]

[Chloe winces as she watches the player drops.]

That keeps happening. I guess they don't mind getting hurt.

They certainly aren't coddled. [ Now a fight is breaking out over whether or not the player was hit illegally. Or something. Haruka wonders if these people just like to compete. ]

[Chloe snickers.]

If you live on a planet that wants to kill you, I don't think coddling ever comes into the picture.
