Even so, I prefer observing from a point where they have difficulty drawing me into their games. May I assume you feel the same?

[He huffs, almost a laugh. Looking back down at the crowds below, his irritation resurfaces.]

I do. They're rather too forceful about their games.

[At least they're only that, so far. But the history behind them and his own personal frustrations mean he's got a rather dim opinion on the practice.]

They are, yes. I understand it's part of their culture, yet it's one I'm glad I do not share. The strategy games intrigue me far more.

[The yelling from below increases in volume as the crowd splits itself into teams.]

Perhaps we'd be better off exploring outside of town?

Have you not been? It would be lovely, if it weren't so oddly desolate.

[There were plenty of trees, plants, some animals. The haze and film of the poison hangs over everything, though, constantly reminding him of the nature of the place. After a pause, he considers the Vision again, considering what he can sense. His experience with robots has been limited to those purposely built to be immune to his talents... but even then, he's not quick to assume this person is one.]

It's far less crowded than the city, though.

Not yet, no. I think it's fascinating how some life is attempting to reclaim the land, but I've only observed from a distance.

[While he misses that the examination has a particular power to it, the Vision is quite accustomed to people finding him unusual and isn't bothered by it.]

I'd imagine so. Do the crowds bother you?

The games they play do.

[So yes and no. He could do without the crowds as well, but their fervor for battering each other in the name of competition is tiresome.]

They are rather obsessed with conflict, though I suppose if it keeps their society from a larger war it's worthwhile to them.

[He shrugs.]

You've found as good a way as any to avoid them, I think.

I doubt anything can keep society from war, no matter their outlets.

[There's a touch of disdain about that. Given what he's heard of this moon's history, he doubts they'll never see conflict again. That's the way of things.]

People tend not to look up.

Do you think so? It would be very sad, if so - though I admit I have yet to see a society without it.

[Doesn't mean he wouldn't like to see a society without war, of course.]

I find that very true.

And how many societies have you seen? [He's not human, he can tell that much. Given the ring of metal to him, he could be a machine, or some breed of being with metallic makeup.]

Countless, though my perceptions were in a very different state at the time. In this form, only a few.

[He knows it's an odd answer, so he tilts his head and smiles apologetically.]

Though I've a broad base in historical and theoretical knowledge as well, naturally.

The Mind Stone itself is sentient and has been in existence for many eons. This body was made to bear it; my existence as a separate, symbiotic awareness was unexpected.

[A sentient stone... even with all his experiences, that's a new one to him. He shifts, tilting his body forward to look closer.]

And your body is machine-like in nature. [This one isn't a question, it's a statement. Still a guess, but what he considers to be an educated one.]

In a manner of speaking, yes. I don't suppose you're familiar with a metal called vibranium, but it bonded in odd ways with the organic components of this body. Even I'm not entirely sure exactly what I'm capable of.

[The problems with being "unique". Ah well.]

[So, that's the name for it. It's the second unknown metal he's heard of in this place, coming after adamantium.]

[Very interesting indeed. His eyes light up a bit.]

It's said to be the rarest metal on my version of Earth. I'm afraid I represent several billion dollars worth.

No wonder I haven't heard of it, then.

[He crosses his arms over his chest, speaking plainly.] I control metal and magnetic fields. So yes, I can sense it. It wasn't familiar to me.

That could be very useful, especially from an engineering perspective. The diagnostic value alone-- [He shakes his head; either he already knows because it's his passion or he isn't interested.]

There should be a bit more of it on the Fleet, actually, though if you encounter any on a planet somewhere I'd be very curious to know more.
