first one to make that doctor who joke loses
Who: Everyone! All of you!
Broadcast: Maybe!
Action: Definitely!
When: Anytime during the toxic moon event!
---
[boy oh boy, isn't everyone just so excited to explore this... charming... place...?
this is a game-wide mingle and the timeframe isn't super-important, so throw in with whatever you want! play war games, go shopping for gas masks, get lost in the wilderness, hide up in the Iskaulit and refuse to set foot on the moon, anything goes.
here's the main event info post for reference! have fun!]

Michiru
[exploring the (indoor parts of the) city grants a nice little break from having to wear that mask all the time. She'll take the time to wander through the markets and the museums, but what she's really looking for is a book or a class or something to help her get more acquainted with the tech nowadays. Coming from the 90s can be a struggle sometimes.]
B: Oceanview
[Michiru's leaning against a convenient stone ledge. Her expression looks pretty placid, but it's difficult to tell under the gas mask. It's hard to watch, but it's harder to look away.]
C: War...game??
[who knows how she got into this, but here she is, in the middle of an indoor pavilion with a violin in her hands. Her opposite has an instrument too, and they're exchanging snatches of melody. It's not exactly the most objective of games, but the growing crowd would cheer whenever one of the players takes the other's melody and adds their own twist to it, as if daring the other to respond.
The 'tussle' comes to a head when Michiru gathers up the entire leitmotif, placing herself squarely as the main melody even as she expands and embellishes on the theme. After a few attempts to overtake that melody, her opponent sighs good-naturedly and begins playing accompaniment.
Judging from the cheers, her small smile, and the way the music starts shifting into cooperation rather than an outright challenge, Michiru is having a lot more fun than she's letting on.]
D: Anything!
[on the Bishop, etc.]
B
Although... Hm. Not very scenic, is it?
Still, Penny isn't the kind of girl not to notice or greet a fellow Fleet-er. So she gives a small wave as she approaches. ] Greetings! Enjoying the view? [ Maybe this girl likes the polluted ocean. Penny won't judge.
One thing Michiru might notice is Penny's lack of a gas mask, though. And this far from the city, that must have been quite a while without it. ]

Almost. [the edges of her eyes crinkle a smidge, but her mildly self-deprecating smile is definitely hidden by the mask.] I miss the scent of the sea.
[the movement of the waves is almost the same, if not for the ugly, poisonous color.]
no subject
I am also not sure if this smells anything like the sea.
no subject
[hence the almost nostalgia. So close yet so far.]
It doesn't seem like a good idea to risk it, in any case. [re: gas mask.
Slight headtilt.] Have you been to a proper ocean before?
[without all the toxic sludge, no offense to the inhabitants.]
no subject
The ocean Grimm are particularly violent, or so I've heard.
no subject
Grimm? [her first thought is monsters - probably ones out to steal souls/energy/etc.]
no subject
You are very fortunate. Grimm are monstrous beasts that eradicate life.
no subject
[weirdly enough, they all seem to center around Tokyo and she definitely doesn't have anything to do with it]
no subject
I also assume your oceans do not look like this?
no subject
Not in the least. You'd have the clean tang of salt in the air, the surf lapping at your feet, and the wind in your hair.
[is she still talking about the beach]
no subject
At least there is wind here? That is similar. [ Except this wind carries smoke particles and a nasty chemical smell. ]
no subject
It's harder to enjoy with this thing on - [she gestures at the gas mask] - but thank you.
I know some people have gotten sick from the air, but it looks like you're immune.

Ah, they really have one! I wasn't sure if I'd see another so soon...!
[It's not... quite home, but it's at least a shadow of it.
And that will simply have to do.]
Oh, I wish I could play in it...!
[This goshdarn toxic-everything is just such a bummer, right.]
no subject
Her small smile is mostly hidden by her mask.]
I don't believe anybody else has nearly been as excited as you.
no subject
Oh, me? I -- I suppose I am! Where I'm from, the ocean is all around you.
no subject
Do you live on an island, then? Or on a ship?
no subject
But I've been sailing with a pirate crew, on a ship... So I suppose it's both!
no subject
I lived near the shore, but it doesn't look like I've had quite as many adventures as you have.
no subject
I-it's true... I've been to quite a few places. While I always wish I had never been taken, I try to look at things positively! I was very fortunate to get away and start my journey home. The ocean really is a wonderful place, isn't it?
no subject
You were taken by the pirates?
no subject
But I was very fortunate -- I, I was able to escape some years later. A fishman pirate crew was very kind to decide to take me back home to my island, is what happened...!
no subject
Softly:] I'm sorry that happened.
[a pause, and then here's a quiet smile] It looks like I've heard only the bad things about pirates.
no subject
Horrible, terrible pirates! Ones that steal and hurt people and... well... I learned recently but everything has a good and bad, don't they?
no subject
It definitely is, especially when you're talking about people.
Some people though, [and her eyes soften a bit] have a sort of goodness that just shines.
